Of course they are, personal reasons is a stock answer for a 100 different scenarios. It’s a standard statement.

“Personal reasons” could be anything from mental health issues to a bust up with staff and anything in between.

Exactly. If he's done something wrong, the FA aren't going to come out in the press and condemn him midway through a World Cup. The truth will come out after the tournament.

It wouldn't happen in a million years but... Gareth Ainsworth.

Hear me out. English. Great bloke all around. Tactically astute. Pragmatic. Likeable as ****. Did wonders without any money.

Lacks experience on the highest level but I'd take it over Southgate every time.

Have you watched Wycombe play? You'd soon be calling for Southgate to come back after watching a Gareth Ainsworth side.

  3. Is there a known problem with the editor editing the wrong line items? I've just been trying to update the Champions League, Europa, etc registered teams and generally try to do them country-by-country (eg swap Man Utd for Tottenham) and after a couple it seems to just edit whichever line it wants. The same applies for other lists, such as the club finances page.

    Any help or fixes?

  4. Ended up winning the league despite the players being on the beach after getting promoted.

Working my way backwards with this update, but this was my transfer activity during the second season. The only out of contract player I decided to keep was Nathan Byrne (and Tom Lawrence but he left for Aberdeen) so there was a lot of work to be done. Hause and Murphy were great free transfers, and Freddie Woodman was an absolute steal at £300k - 24 clean sheets in the league. I was struggling to find a good forward so I ended up spending a bit more than I would've initially wanted to on Woodrow, but he ended the season with 20 league goals in 34 games.

Outs - Shinnie had barely played in the first half of the season then Sunderland came in with an offer which I couldn't refuse at his age. Similar with Forsyth, he'd not played at all and his physical attributes had really gone downhill.

I'm really struggling for players for the Premier league. £30-odd million sounds like a lot, but half of it ends up going on the wage bill.

Out of interest, I assume if you’re making transfers you got a takeover, when did that go through?

It was in October or November in the first season. Certainly not a sugar daddy either.

I haven't updated for a while and now mid-way through the second season. We finished the first season in the top half.  I tried to make us hard to beat with the squad being so threadbare due to injuries, so I was happy to see only the top two losing fewer games than we did. We threw away a lot of leads late on which I think I've rectified in the second season.

Transfer-wise; I brought in Ellis Simms, Anthony Ralston, Charlie Goode and Matt Godden on loan. Simms was a bit of a panic signing after deciding to release Baldock. Jozwiak fractured his leg the day after deadline day, so Dan Crowley came in, although didn't feature much due to the form of Jack Stretton from the right wing. Jagielka wouldn't stay. I got rid of Marshall for a small fee, and accepted bids for a couple of the youngsters to free up some funds.

So far in season two, we're on a bit of a mad run..

My understanding is that for the majority of the first season (2021-22), and through the January transfer window, Tom Lawrence wants at least what he's earning now or will take a small pay-cut.

As the season gets towards the business end, his wage demands drop quite a bit and you can extend his contract at a much more reasonable salary but, and it's a BIG but, if you wait it out, there's a fair chance he'll get a better offer and a bigger salary from other clubs, including MLS clubs irrespective of whether or not you have USA loaded as a playable Nation.

Well, he ended up moving on. It got to March and he announced that he wanted to explore his options at the end of his contract. I've tried to offer him a contract every month but no luck. The sad part is he's ended up at Aberdeen on £7.5k p/w.
