Disappointing to miss out on qualifying for the promotion stage on the last game of the season, but results after the break were pretty dreadful:

Mid-season break
A very inconsistent start to the season, we had some great results like the 6-0 win over Naestved, followed by 2-1 loss to Silkeborg.
Again, with our finances and the squad, I can’t be too disappointed to still be heading for the promotion stage.
I’m allso getting more interest!

Pre-season 2022
A very mixed start to the season. We had two very good performances at the start of the season, before some inconsistency later on.
Hopefully a good cup run would improve our finances this year!
A few of last season’s loans extended and more brought in to build the squad.

just wasn’t meant to be, it came down to the last game of the season again top side AC Horsens, but fourth in our first season in the division, as well as having the smallest budget in the league is decent.

We’ve qualified for the promotion stage:
Realistically, we aren’t going to make the top two promotion spots, but for our first season in the division and the budget we have, this is definitely a successful season.

Few more loan signings were made after some of the amateur players decided they wanted to leave. Also sold Iversen and Mucolli to balance the books (and Mucolli got pissed that I warned him about his poor training performances).

Mid-season break
Unbeaten since the start of October, we finally found some consistency. A few too many draws for my liking, but considering this is our first season in the NordicBet Liga we’re keeping up with the leaders fairly well.
Our finances aren’t looking too pretty though…
Not helped by our owners building a new stadium and just turning semi-pro.
Moving forward, depending on our performance in the league this season, I may look to turn us into a feeder team for the big teams in Denmark, due to the minimal rules around loan signings and including loans in the matchday squad.

Into the promotion stage
We enter the promotion stage twelve points clear of FC Fredericia in second, with a fantastic run towards the end of the preliminary stage.
Unfortunately we had a few first team players picked off by other clubs during the mid-season break, most noticeably Smith-Petersen and Tved Hansen. Luckily I had ready made replacements for Smith-Petersen and Tved Hansen in Kasa and Christjansen, Ullum was brought in on an amateur contract just to bolster the numbers in midfield.

A few more signings were made midway through the season, with us lacking rotation in the fullback and central midfield positions:
Jesper Christjansen is a quality signing at this level, he pulled the strings when I moved him to the defensive midfield spot.

Couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season (well maybe turning that loss into a win), it was a hectic month and it’s good to hit the ground running.

Unbeaten in pre-season again, let’s hope we can continue this form into the league.
Transfers
the prodigal son returns! Couldn’t turn down the opportunity to sign him again, having played seven games in total for HF Køge.
He only went and scored a hattrick on his first game back
Tactical changes
With a settled squad who understand the tactical setup, I looked to improve on our style of play. I introduced passing out from the goalkeeper to the centre backs and passing out of the back, as well as a higher line across the defence and midfield/forwards.
The reason for these changes is that we were playing good football when in possession, but we weren’t winning it back and retaining the ball quite as well as I would have liked. With the personnel in the team we should have no issues playing this way.

End of season
So that’s it, we ended up second. Considering the turnover of players, the implementation of a new system, and the low expectations, we did quite well I’d say!
My player of the season
A consistent figure in the midfield, he just kept things ticking over and dictating the game from deep. I can see clubs are in for him this summer so hopefully we can keep hold of him!

Onto the promotion stage
Having qualified in second in the preliminary stage, we make the promotion stage of the competition eight points off Helsingør in first.
It’s going to be a big ask to get promoted, but these signings could help:

Pre-season 2023
Having extended a few of the previous loans and bringing in six new players, we beat FC
København 2-1 in a friendly. Fingers crossed we can get a good start to the season and push on for promotion after two season in the division.
