  1. Lowerstoft Town 2022/23 VNLN - 7th - Playoff 1st round Still not good enough to get promoted though League Table - Tactics & 1st eleven - Transfers For the second time, I do well in the league, then go out in the playoffs. We almost blew even getting into the playoffs, as our form in the 2nd half of the season was really inconsistent. Our attack was good, but the defence let us down at key times, and we threw away a lot of leads. I'm sad to say our once key man Adarkwa has fallen away due to a terrible run of injuries over past two seasons. He's just too crocked to rely on now, but he's a club icon so I'm keeping him on as a non-contract player. The biggest issue I'm having though is that no one good wants to move to Lowestoft. It's kinda frustrating. 2. Mid season, and things are going well. I feel like we're Everton during the David Moyes days, veering wildly season to season between the upper and lower reaches of the table. I don't think I'll be able to catch Nuneaton or Chester, but I'm definitely optimistic about the playoffs.
  3. Well. I played a few games into the next season, and things have been going a lot better. Goals galore. I'm actually hopeful again.
  4. Lowerstoft Town 2021/22 VNLN - 17th Ugh. League Table - Tactics & 1st eleven - Transfers Started the season poorly, tried to change the formation to fix thing. Continued to play poorly. Changed back to original formation and just about stabilised. Main man Adarkwa was injured most of the season, and everyone in the team was fed up with me. Let's just move on quickly. 5. Lowerstoft Town 2020/21 - Playoff Semi-Finalists Sigh, what might've been... League Table - Tactics & 1st eleven - Transfers We went from having the worst defence in the league to the best. Adarkwa was top scorer in the league. At one point we were on a 14 match unbeaten run, and joint top of the league. But our form in the last 10 games of the season dropped off, and we ended up 5th. The playoff first round was much easier than the score suggests, with Nuneaton scoring two late goals, but against FC United we just weren't really in it at allOur key player this season was arguably central defender Inman, who played fantastically all through the season proper, then had a couple of nightmares in the playoffs. It's weird, this season felt at the same time a great over-achievement and a bitter disappointment. We were predicted to finish 19th, so to get in the playoffs is great, but considering the firepower this team has, once the defence came together I fell like we should have done even better. Oh well, we'll try again next season. 6. Mid season in the VNLN, and things are going pretty well. We started pretty poorly, but once my new defensive signings settled in we've been on a really good run of form. The playoffs are definitely in reach, and the top of the table is so tight, if this run goes on long enough we may even have an outside chance at challenging for top spot, especially as our better results are all coming against the top teams. Who knows? I can but dream.
  7. Lowerstoft Town 2019/20 - 17th and safe! Defending is still overrated. League Table - Tactics & 1st eleven - Transfers Wow, this is the most fun season I've had in FM in a long time. Most goals conceded, joint 2nd highest for goals scored, most of the games seesawing thrillers. It was bonkers. I had 4 strikers get into double figures, Reed, Spyrides, Tomlinson (on loan from Luton) and by far the best of the bunch Adarkwa, who essentially made my season. While we were always close to the relegation zone position wise, there was usually a 7-8 point buffer except for a spell in the middle of the season. The cherry on top is that Adarkwa, having spent the entire season refusing to sign a contract extension because he (correctly) felt he was too good for us, changed his mind and agreed to stay for another season. If I can improve the defence with my tiny transfer budget, I may even have an extremely outside chance for the promotion spots. 8. Mid season update, started well and slowed a bit recently but we are actually scoring goals so hopefully I won't have the painful demise I did with Warrington. I switched to a narrow 433 to be more adventurous and because the AI would always destroy me with it in FM17. Also... Looks like I might be getting the softest of soft Brexits.
  9. Season 2018/19 League Table Well crap. It was a mostly slow death. After a decent first half to the season, playing a counter-attacking 4-4-1-1 2DM, we just stopped scoring goals. My defence was always bobbins, so when my main striker Josh Hine went on a long barren spell, it was always going to end in tears. A radical formation change with about six games left completely backfired and we were relegated with one game to go. But! Lowestoft Town have just been promoted without a manager, and they were dumb enough to appoint me. Looks like I get another chance. 10. Little 18/19 half season update. Started with only around 15 players at the entire club, so at first it was just a case of getting anyone in who could kick a ball without falling over. I did inherit a pretty good experienced GK though. 4 points clear is slightly better than I was expecting at this stage, but recent for has been poor, so I'm not relaxed yet. I also had a fun little moment where one of my influential players threw a hissy fit for getting subbed, and brought half the squad with him. One game later I leave him on despite playing badly and he decides he's fine. I really hope this doesn't become a thing.
  11. Been lurking for a while now, but I thought I'd give the challenge a try this year. Warrington here I come!
