  1. Youth Candidates Season 2026/27 Unió Esportiva Extremenya The preview was once again, exceptional: The players themselves are brilliant with all being offered contracts and quite a few going straight into the squad.
  2. Aachen FC Season 4 Review All I got to say is phew.... A hard season played with us making the step up to a very competitive Bundesliga 2. We managed to stay up on the last game of the season but we need to improve next season. The Best Overall Starting 11 Transfers
  3. Ungmennafélag Njarðvíkur - Season 2023 Review Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances So I guess, I'm a tactical genius! Or, you know, the team I took over is pretty damn good. And the latter is most likely the actual truth, I mean, several of the starting players are rated as "leading players" for the top tier, so I have no idea why they were in a 3rd tier team from the start. So I guess the team in general simply are at the level they are supposed to be at. We had a shot at the title already, but Valur are a bit ahead of us yet. Still we are going into Europe next season, and we reall
  4. This Thread’s Purpose Maybe it's just me, but I've seen a lot of 4-3-3 questions on the board in the last few months, and find many of them have the same/similar issues - lack of penetration/quality chances and losing games in surprising ways against lesser opposition. Okay, yes,4-3-3 one of the most popular formations and these things can be common with any formation as your team improves, but it’s still made me want to do a tactic write up on a 4-3-3 system that I’ve developed and have found to be very effective, and that doesn’t fall perfectly into categories like possession, g
  5. Had alot of work so didnt play much, but was able to finish another season! Chengfeng Season 42/43 Review Table - Squad - U23 Squad - U19 Squad - Transfers - Finances We finished third, which is quite an achievement. Really nice season for us with only 7 losses. Hope this will help our reputation grow further. Also another international player for our side and I think it wont be the last. We got real problems if there are youth internationals Also another great preview, but I think the intake wasnt really a golden generation. And again only Chinese Players. Two
  6. Marchamalo - Youth Intake - April 2028 The promised intake arrived and was a refreshing sight to see 5 star PA on multiple prospects (although some of the 4 star PA prospects from the last 2 intakes are now 5 stars). This intake also provides an Argentinian and Brazilian, along with some strong personalities. José Vittor (28a) has loads of potential and decent stats to get some appearances in the first team next year. A Fairly Sporting personality is not great, however. Eder Hernández (28b) is the winger to be more excited about. Taller, quicker, and with a Fairly Pro
  7. End of Season Review Season 2026/27 Unió Esportiva Extremenya Season Summary We finished runners up in both the league and cup. Very disappointing as we need to start winning some silverware. Season Details Europa Conference League - For the third year running we reached the second qualifying round though this time it was Cypriot outfit Apollon Limassol who beat us convincingly. League Table - U. E. Santa Coloma dominated the league from start to finish. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - Poor form in the middle of the season prevented any title challenge
  8. For youth teams: The best approach is to have them play the same tactic as the senior team that way you can always bring the better ones in. Assign them roles for training that way the training is more focused. This is especially the case for the best youth players Avoid over playing them in the senior team, this causes them to need rest breaks which take them away from training The default training schedule is fine unless you want something more specific, like developing fullbacks who can play killer balls, which requires a specialised approach. If you set them up with individua
  9. Arões Sport Club Youth Intake 2023/2024 Once again, not a great intake according to the preview Lots of 5 star potential, but given the overall quality of my team, that does not mean a lot Looks like a decent prospect at fullback, would like for him to be a little bit quicker Pacey striker, could do a job as a Deep Lying Forward actually Another pacey striker, if only he could finish... Solid option for CAM, needs to improve his passing Solid future option for CM, agressive as we all l
  10. To add to this, factors that contribute to sustained performance: 1. Proper Preseason with Endurance and Physical sessions 2. Squad Rotation - Younger players shouldn't be asked to play 90 minutes twice a week or sometimes even once a week. You should monitor their fitness levels, otherwise they get jaded too quickly. 3. Injuries - players coming back from injuries should be cotton balled into games, ideally do some rehabilitation work before they resume full training 4. Individual player performances - players will usually tail off, you can tell by looking at their training chart
  11. There is one key aspect that most people seem to be missing, this is not only a game for hard core tactical geniuses who can beat the game blindfolded in a drunken stupor. It's also a game for the masses who like to take on their favourite team and win some matches and be happy. Have you guys seen all the "the AI are cheating"-, and "my tactic works, why do I lose"-threads popping up around the place? The reason for that is because the game is too complicated, or they are misunderstanding, or that they just want an easier game where they can win a couple of matches and have fun. Not every
  12. I'll answer my own question: yes. The AI clubs seem to make decisions only based on players' PA and CA, and completely ignore their career history and form. For example, I have a 22-year old striker now in Vanarama National who has scored 20, 39, and 47 league goals in the previous 3 seasons in the Vanarama North. Absolutely nobody has paid interest to him, because he obviously doesn't have a very high PA at all. This feels quite unrealistic, if it happened IRL, I'm pretty sure Leicester would be knocking on my door hoping to catch the next Jamie Vardy. Moreover, it should not be possible to c
  13. Quick update, after a really bad start I wasn't able to turn the ship around. In the last few matches the players were unhappy with me, which led to me getting sacked. But I had a nice few seasons, I'm 100% trying this challenge again. But for the next time I think picking a smaller, not Big5 country. But for now I will follow your youth adventures. Thanks for having me! final league standings (me 18th)
  14. "Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans win." Bringing Germany into a New Millennium Gegenpressing, the buzzword of European football tactics in the 2010s. While it seemed a like tactical revolution when Borussia Dortmund stormed their way to their first two Bundesliga in nine years, following bouts with insolvency, the genealogy of this seemingly fresh new way of playing can be traced back to the 70s and 80s. Managers like Rinus Michels and, more importantly to this story, Arrigo Sacchi and Valeriy Lobanovskyi, sent their teams out t
  15. The Spanish 2nd tier is weird. B teams can't be promoted to the same division as their 1st team, so even though Barcelona B are walking the league, 2nd and 3rd will go up automatically. Then there's two B teams in the play-off positions, extending the spots down to 9th. We're having a very frustrating season yet are only 1 point off the play-offs.
  16. In my experience the WP and AF work really well together on the same side of the pitch, I had great successes with multiple teams with similar (altough not the same) tactics - I won La Liga and Seriea A in my first season with Valencia and Milan, without any signings. I often use a 442 with an Advanced Forward and a WP on the same side of the pitch. The AF pushes forward, leaving space behind him, and the WP can exploit that space really well. But there is a downside to using a central midfielder on defend duty behing the AF: when your team are out of possession, there can be a huge unoccu

  18. 2025/26 End of Season Review & What next Well here we are! I cannot believe 6 seasons have flown by this quick and also the fact I've managed to tick off my first club along the way! My time at Stuttgart has been amazing, we've had steady progression year on year and also welcome in some amazing young new signing and some sensational intake players. But let's not shed tears just yet, let's take a look back at this season before we reminisce too much! Bundesliga For the first time we managed to hold on to our title, it was our 3rd title in 4 seasons but this one was the easie
  19. My two pennies worth: 433 is a great formation because it's easy to split the team into two units: one behind the ball in possession, and one in front of it in possesssion. 5-5 and 4-6 are the most common splits. This should be enough to protect you against counters and control the game while also having a strong attacking presence. Where some might start having problems is when they overcommit attacking players. If you have a 3-7 split for example, you'll be more vulnerable on the counter and less effective in attack because of a lack of depth. Most set-ups like this will dep
  20. 2025/26 Season - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL v PSG HERE WE GO!! We've gone with our successful 4231 formation and have most players fit, the one exception is Winger Pino who can only make the bench. 10 mins: The first major chance goes to us, a corner is cleared and it's picked up by Camara, he lays it into Koch who turns and shoots and hits the post. 33 mins: The first real chance for PSG, again it's from a corner, it's drops to Curtis Jones on the edge of the box who's shot is wonderfully saved by Camesecchi. 39 mins: Another chance for Koch, it's really nicely play
  21. I've noticed a crucial difference now I've been promoted to the Premier League. Having risen from the lower leagues, I've been used to being in so many sucky cups that our schedule has been a relentless 2-games-a-week season in, season out. Originally my squad were part-timers, and when we went full-time the squad was very young, being an Academy Challenge campaign. It means that players simply were not capable of playing more than half the fixtures (goalkeeper excluded). So I had no choice but to have a weekend and a separate midweek squad. Once in the EFL, the stupid cups disappeared bu
  22. So I guess that's 25 points for me so far. As I said in my first post my target is to try this challenge without spending any money on transfer fees. As you can see in the screenshot of the transfers, this is going well so far. I will not loan a player if the other club is demanding a monthly fee.
  23. Ungmennafélag Njarðvíkur - Season 2022 Review Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances I had forgotten how fast the seasons in Iceland go, but this was a good one! I think this club start out with a very good squad, and also great facilities, so it should be easier initially than many of the other clubs I've chosen before. And it was, actually. We were fighting in the top the whole season through, and in the end we won it ahead of Fjölnir. So we are going up and will compete in the top tier next season already. We are losing money quite rapidly though, so we do need to bring in more mone

  25. I just wanted to say a huge thanks to the team at SI. Having skipped an FM version for the first time in my life since playing FM, I decided to test FM21 out via demo. Now I have the full product. I have to say that FM21 is a huge step in the right direction. The ME is a million times better. I cannot even put into words how happy it makes me to play a Football Management game again. I had long criticisms of the previous match engines that I detailed in the FM20 feedback thread, but this is a massive improvement. Thank you for listening to the fans. At the end of the day, the ME is
  26. Your setup of roles and duties really looks very good for a possession-based, short-passing approach you want to implement Instructions also make sense, although I would not insist on the WBiB at all costs (or at least not all the time). Because there will be situations when such instruction is likely to overcomplicate your attacking play and thus potentially do more harm than good.
  27. Not really. CFs also attacks space but not the same amount of an attack duty striker. Sorry but that is also not true. WPa on the left with CFs in front of him use different areas of the pitch. WPa plays more centrally and CFs roams around vertically & horizontally on the left half of the pitch. That is not a bad thing for a 4-4-2. Because there is no DM, a conservative full back with a support duty winger can balance the tactic with one side is attacking with taking higher risks and the other is supporting attacks with lesser risks.
  28. Self-imposed restrictions just aren't good enough, because we have to eliminate precisely the factors that are at the core of what makes this game enjoyable. If we can't do transfers and we can't do tactics, what is left?
  29. Yeah it’s all about this. the Game might be balanced for a broad audience and that is totally fine as it allows SI to further develop the game and make it even better. But some ingame options would be really nice.
  30. Despite the thrashing we got at Arsenal I would consider us having a good finish of the year. After losing at Cagliari and at home to Napoli we went on a run of 4 league wins without conceding a goal, so pretty satisfied with that. After 15 games we are 7th in the league, but the European places are within reach. Should be a quiet winter transfer window for us, if we ignore the constant offers we get for loaning or selling youngsters produced at the club. It is kind of weird, that they are in the first team squad, play an odd game now and then, but still get upset over me refusing to loan them
  31. Aachen Season 4 Youth Intake A lot better then last season's intake with some excellent wingers/strikers.

  34. I have read some discussions whether FM was easy or not. Then I looked at Steam achievements and I don't understand why its's even a discussion anymore. The base is 84% of total players (players with at least 1 win). Achievement stats of this base (FM2019): Unbeaten for 10: 85%, 10 wins in row, Manager of the Year, Most goals scored, Least conceded: around 64% Promotion 36% Unbeaten league season 29% So depending on how many players exactly start with ManCity etc., this is a super easy arcade-ish game for the majority of players. 36. Follo FK - Season 2028 Review Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances We survived this time! After we went down in our first try in the top tier, simply surviving was the the goal. And we did, even if it was quite close. A lot of teams battled to avoid relegation, but in the end we finished atop the pile at the bottom in a very respectable 11th place. We scored quite freely, but we also concede too many goals for my likening, so I hope I can work on that the next seasons. In Norgesmesterskapet we beat Fagerborg and Flisa before losing to Viking in the 3rd round. Youth The
  37. BFC Dynamo 2029/2030 end of season review League table | Competition overview | Finances | Transfers | Youth intake | Facilities | Club info Again a very good season. Not as good as last year, but still a very good season. A 7th place, with only one goal difference to finish 6th. So we qualified for Europa Conference League in stead of Europa League. But I can't complain, I am very happy that we can play in Europe again nexts season. It was our debut in the Champions League as well. We had a very, very tough group. And as excpected we didn't qualify for the next round. But I am very hap
  38. Follo FK - Season 2024 Review Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances A really good season for us, and it ended in success. On the final day we could finish anywhere from 1st to 3rd, so it was really close. We did our job, and won at home to lower mid-table side Jerv. Sarpsborg 08 also did their job and won, and thus clinched the title, while Egersund lost away to 4th placed Haugesund. That meant we finished 2nd and are promoted to the top tier! Quite amazingly, but the starting squad for this team is really something. I also managed to integrate a few of the youngsters into the side, s
  39. Follo FK - Season 2023 Review Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances This season went much better than I had expected. I initially thought we'd struggle to stay up, but from the start we showed we could compete and were part of the top teams. It was a 5 way battle for the top spots. Start, Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg 08, and Sogndal were all fighting along us throughout the season. Start puller away towards the end, but it went down to the final match before it was clear Fredrikstad had finished above us in the final promotion spot. So we went into the playoffs, but we lost to Egersund in t

Since creating my International Competitions Collection at the start of the year (https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/547256-fm21-dodgee-gamers-international-competition-collection/), I have received several messages guiding me to competitions I had missed and making requests for a whole host of former and fictional competitions. I have therefore now made 3 different collections: International Competitions Collection (19 real senior tournaments and f

  42. 1. Introduction Hello everyone. Today we're going to take a look at how different database setup in terms of amount of loaded divisions and usage of custom database within one country influences number of youngster generated and we will measure their quality based solely on their potential ability attribute (PA). The idea for that experiment came from my fond for playing mostly with lower reputation leagues and clubs with my teams build around youngsters development. For some time I wanted to try this play style with bigger club so obvious candidate became Athletic Bilbao with their Basqu
