Tactical Resources (Useful Links)

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,

How about a thread for the 'tactics bible' where we all list good tactical resources, whether they be books, Internet articles or whatever else?

This can be a source of knowledge for FMers who are trying to build tactics based on real life principles.

I'll go first with some suggestions.

First of all, I would like to recommend Inverting the Pyramid by Jonathan Wilson as an excellent history of the development of football tactics.

Then, I would also recommend the following website articles from Wikipedia, which are fairly self-explanatory:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_formations

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_(soccer)_positions

Finally, I have a couple of website links that may be of interest:

http://www.talkfootball.co.uk/guides/football_tactics.html - article that I really like for its simplicity, particularly the bit explaining about zonal and man marking.

http://albicelestesforever.blogspot.com/2007/06/further-exploration-of-22.html - a guys website where he discusses the Argentina National Football Team 'Strategies, Formations, Tactics and Player Selections'. Quite interesting.

http://www.football-lineups.com/ - Various team tactics and formations.

That's all from me for now.

Anyone else got any recommendations?

C.
