Chairman taking a bung?

After Wolves boss Nick Bott was given some spending money by the Wolves board after complaining about his transfer kitty he went ahead and identified a number of transfer targets he was interested in. Making a number of bids to test the water. However it is now believed that the Wolves chairman may have taken a bung from leading foreign agents after it was discovered that in Botts ABSENCE the chairman had finalised the deals of 4 players who did NOT recieve work permits. Bott will have to fish these out to his belgium feeder club and thank his chairman for wasting 750K of his kitty!!!!!

On a brighter note Wolves have confirmed the transfer of young Man Utd keeper Ben Amos who will be joining Wolves for 100K in January.

League Cup

(A) Wolves v Portsmouth 1-0 Loss

A real battle at Portsmouth saw the home side go into the hat for the next round even though Wolves had a lot of opportunities to pinch a win.

(A) Wolves v Leeds 0-0 Draw

(A) Wolves v Reading 2-0 WinVilakazi,Bothroyd

*Assistant Manager in charge*

(H) Wolves v West Brom 1-1 DrawSutton

Always going to be a tough game for the struggling Wolves team lying in 16th place. Wolves attacked wella nd created numerous chances only to see the Baggies keeper pull off numerous exceptional saves, the sides went in level at half time and Woves came out slightly more attack minded only to see West Brom take the lead completely against the run of play. Wolves changed to a more attacking 4-4-2 and brought on top scorer Sutton who managed to snatch an equaliser late on with a screaming drive that the baggies keeper had no chance of stopping. 1-1 the final score but Wolves were bitterly dissapointed not to get a win.

(A) Wolves v Coventry 1-0 WinVilakazi

Another local derby and Wolves again came out fighting and were rightfully given the lead when after numerous chances Vilakazis deflected shot from outside the area found its way in. The Coventry side staged a spirited comeback and kept pushing and pushing only to see Wolves change to there defensive 4411 formation to try and preserve the lead they had. Coventry were unlucky not to get a point as Wolves had to park a bus in front of there goal for the last 10 mins.

(H) Wolves v Crewe 0-0 Draw

Crewe literally came to Molineux and parked the bus in front of goal, Wolves huffed and puffed but couldn't find a way through to the Crewe goal. A 0-0 draw was the result Crewe had come for.

On a bright note, thats 8 games unbeaten in the league now and are slowly creeping up the table.

Following Price's anger management issues last week we are pleased to be able to provide the following update:

bannerhh5.jpg

QPR Started last nights session at 4th. Price was reportedly fuming with Kanu's lacklustre form in front of goal as well as a generally poor team performance over the past session. A good start was therefore required.

QPR 1 - Leicester - 0

Dexster Blackstock scoring on a rare start. A relatively dull game however the defence played well keeping Leicester at bay.

QPR - 1 Everton - 1

Ray Jones scored in 30 seconds to put the favourites behind. A brilliant Cahill managed to equalise in the 2nd half but QPR held on for the draw.

QPR - 2 Southend - 1

QPR came from behind to win this game in excellent style. A satisfying win kept them in the playoff spaces.

Stoke - 1 QPR - 3

Once again QPR come from behind to beat the favourites Stoke. Ghali scored a screamer but the cracks are becoming ever more obvious. Chances are carved but the strikers are unable to capitalise on them.

Blackburn - 2 QPR - 0 League Cup 4th Round

QPR did play well but on the face of the chances were even. Price once again rues his teams chances and inability to sometimes seemingly tap the ball in over the line.

QPR - 0 Luton - 0

Price was furious following what should have been a white wash for the home side. QPR had all the play keeping Luton from having one shot. However once again they were unable to convert their plethora of chances. Price decided it may be best to cash in on Kanu (who was a free signing just 2 months prior) to help fund the purchase of someone able to score.

Plymouth - 1 QPR - 0

The week started badly with the news that Nick Bott had secured the signature of Oliveria, the young 19 yr old Brazilian. This it turned out did not matter as Kanu refused to move to either Ipswich or Crystal Palace instead deciding to be a money mooching miss machine at QPR. If things looked bad Price nearly went insane when his team once again missed several 'open net' chances against Plymouth. However Plymouth did play well and deserved their win.

Price is now mulling over the option of applying for the recently vacated Watford position. He's loathed to do so though as QPR sit a promising 5th in the table with a host of brilliant young talent coming through the ranks (although Ray Jones is appearing less appealing).

The January transfer window is sure to see the possible offloading of waster Kanu and possibly Ray Jones to fund a new striker. Combined value of these two players would reach a possible 3m, which is 3m more than they have cost. 14 games into the season and they have a combined 5 goals, when you consider 3 were for Ray Jones in the first game it becomes clear just how badly they are performing....

And finally.... I will be quite late to next weeks session unless I can weasel my way out of going to some god awful lebanese restaurant for my sisters birthday next week. She would want to do it midweek... on her birthday.... when arsenal are playing spurs, and its on TV, and there is gaming at hand..... some people are just soooo selfish ><

Andy, i wouldn't worry about Oliveira, he will probably have his WP turned down and the chairman will spend the 850K on him anyway to waste my transfer kitty icon_confused.gif

Love the report mate, i can see the insanity err i mean passion you showed during last nights sessions is still very much with you lol.

Leeds Elland Rd 22/9/07

1-3 League

Plymouth Started the stronger but allowed themselves to be bullied out of the match Fletcher hit the opener for Argyle but it went down hill from there Leeds came back into it When a Keeper error From Alexander drew them level on the 63rd min cresswell hit Leeds 2nd 1 min later before wraping up all 3 points in the 81st min

Luton Home Park 26/9/07

1-0 League

Plymouth should have had this game wraped up early with both strikers missing easy chance's Fletcher was the lucky one who was not subbed and repaid the manager with a 86 min winner

Hull The Circle 29/9/07

2-2 League

Ferretti was back to his goal scoring best with a double but yet again Failure to hit the net cost Argyle as Hull hit back with Fagan stealing a well deserved point for hull in the last few mins

Notts Forrest Home Park 20/10/07

3-2 League

Plymouth got of to a bad start as Forrest got of to a flyer Tyson hit there opening goal in the 2nd min Fletcher hit back with a double Before Thomson brought the game level on the 70th min Fletcher completed the scoring with his 3rd Making sure all 3 points stayed at Home Park

Reading Madejski Stadium 27/10/07

2-2 League

A trip to top of the Table Reading looked a unlikely place for Argyle to pick up anything but 2 goals by Fletcher gave them a 2 goal lead before for the 2nd time in 3 games Argyle failed to Keep the lead letting Reading back in it Thomson later said "if you had offered a point to him before the game he would have accepted it but was disapointed now after leading"

QPR Home Park 30/10/07

1-0 league

Thomson pulled a master stroke returning Larsson to the starting 11 to face 5th placed QPR how ironic it was that Larsson scored vs Rangers although this time Queens park and not the Glasgow one This game was not for the vaint harted with 3 players carried off and 1 limping off a even game that could have went either way but with a trip to Southampton to come on the Saturday Thomson was of course worried his 2 injured starts might not make it

Ipswich Boss Returns For Relegation Dogfight!

Ipswich manager David McGowan returned to Portman Road in late September to resume his duties after missing around 9 months due to personal reasons. During his absence, the backroom staff guided the team back to the Premiership, which was a great achievement. However they weren’t able to secure any summer signings, which means McGowan faces the fight for survival with a squad best suited to Championship football. Here’s how things went upon the managers return.

English Premiership

Derby (H) 22.9.07

This was an exciting encounter between the 2 promoted sides that saw both sides creating plenty of goalscoring opportunities. Steve Howard opened the scoring for Derby in the 47th minute but they couldn’t hold onto their lead for that long as Sylvain Legwinski hit an excellent free-kick 15 minutes later to even things up. Ipswich keeper Price pulled off a few excellent saves to secure the man of the match award that could have went to any of the Derby defenders, who all put in a good shift.

Final Score: 1-1 Draw

English Premiership

Portsmouth (A) 29.9.07

Ipswich got of to a wonderful start in this game. Right winger Gavin Williams struck first in the 10th minute which gave the Portman Road side hope of taking something form the game but it was not to be. Portsmouth came back into it and dominated the play for long spells although Ipswich did have their chances aswell. The difference was Pompey took theirs. Goals from Fernandes, O'Neill and Lua Lua wrapped up a 3-1 win for the home side, which was helped by Sito’s sending off for Ipswich.

Final Score: 3-1 Defeat

English Premiership

Blackburn (H) 3.10.07

An excellent win for Ipswich and manager McGowan's first in the Premiership! This was a good moral booster for the squad that would have gave them the belief that they can get a good result in the division. Bendtner opened the scoring for Blackburn early on and they held onto their lead for a considerable amount of time. The equaliser came through Danny Haynes in the 63rd minute before the drama late on. Ipswich were awarded a penalty just 3 minutes before time which midfielder Gavin Williams converted to send the Ipswich faithful home happy and a deserved win for the team.

Final Score: 2-1 Win

English Premiership

Aston Villa (A) 20.10.07

Danny Haynes opened the scoring in the first minute for Ipswich in this close encounter. Two quick goals from Aston Villa put them in the lead and it stayed that way for the rest of the game. There wasn't that much goalmouth activity in what was quite a dull encounter. Owen Garvan played well in midfield and was awarded the man of the match award.

Final Score: 2-1 Defeat

League Cup 3rd Round

Newcastle (A) 24.10.07

Ipswich played very well in this game and were unlucky not to at least force extra time. Poor shooting was their downfall in this game as they had more than enough chances to put a few past Newcastle but the strikers were simply not up to scratch on this occasion. Michael Owen’s goal in the second half was the only one of the game as Ipswich crashed out of the cup. McGowan said after the game that he was "concentrating on staying up", giving the impression he wasn't too concerned with the result.

Final Score: 1-0 Defeat

So an indifferent start for Ipswich on their return to the top division but they are doing well for now, sitting just above the relegation zone. A few signings in January are definetly needed and with the squad strengthened they just might be able to stay up. Just maybe.

(A) Wolves v Watford 2-2 Draw Tahirovic 2

*Assistant Manager in charge*

(H) Wolves v QPR 2-0 Win Tahirovic, Le Tallec

*Assistant Manager in charge*

(H) Wolves v Cardiff 2-1 Win Tahirovic 2

*Assistant Manager in charge*

(A) Wolves v Sheff Wed 1-1 Draw O'Brien

This was a far tougher game than expected, Sheff Wednesday came at Wolves with a very attacking 442 and controlled most of the game, this resulted in them taking the lead in the first half through a Jamie Combover Clapham own goal. An early injury to Robert Koren saw Benny Vilikazi take to the field and start to take more and more control of the game. Wolves poked and prodded and eventually found the equaliser they had been after when O'Brien (playing in an unfamiliar left wing role) tapped home at the back post. Wolves continued to press in the final stages but could not find the winner they were after.

(H) Wolves v Preston 0-0 Draw

After losing first choice keeper to injury for two months and with Ben Amos not coming in until January, Wolves gave Michael Oakes his first taste of 1st team action this season.

A very dull game that saw Wolves control most of the play and have numerous shots on goal but only one managed to find the back of the net and that was disallowed.

(H) Wolves v Everton 3-1 Win Le Tallec 2, Tahirovic

*Touchline Ban*

After bitterly complaining about the goal being disallowed in the previous game the Wolves manager had to endure a touchline ban for the big game against Everton.

Wolves played a counter attacking 4411 and hustled Ecerton all over the park and spurned a few early chances, in the 26th min Le Tallec finished off a great Halmosi cross to put Wolves 1-0 up only to see Everton draw level within 5 mins, just before half time Tahirovic put Wolves back ahead and Le Tallec finished the game off in the 54th minute with his second.

Wolves are currently unbeaten in 14 games and sit in 8th place, 1 point off the play offs and only 6 points off 2nd. A late push could see Wolves pushing for promotion again this season.

Started the session in 15th and finished in 13th but generally it was disapointing. The team are still gelling, however a good 2-1 victory against Coventry finished the session on a high with Nilsson moving into midfield. A good run of results would send us fighting for the play offs but a couple of defeats would see a relegation fight. Realisticaly mid table would be OK because the team is full of younger players who will improve.

Ken Bates looks set to leave the club with a takeover imminent. Rumours are saying Brownley may get 50 million pounds to spend in the Jan window. Alan Smith may return to the club if the takeover is succesful. Also rumoured is a possible 20 million bid for an unamed Wolves Player.

Leeds win 4 out of 5 to put themselves on the fringes of the play off places. The highlight was a 4-2 hammering of QPR at Loftus Road. David Healy was on magic form scoring all 4 goals. Leeds could have added a few more as QPR collapsed at the end. The worst result was a 3-0 loss at then bottom club Crewe.

Leeds have been drawn to play Arsenal at Elland Road in the FA Cup 3rd Round.

Leeds slay mighty Arsenal

Leeds United brouht back memories or their glory years with a great 2-1 success at Arsenal. After going behind in the 70th Minute Leeds grabbed 2 late goals to send Arsenal crashing out of the competition. Hleb got the equalisee and Healy grabbed the winner to stun the Emirates. The Leeds fans at The Emirates broke into song at the final whistle. "Champions of Europe" rang around the stadium at the final whistle as the Leeds fans and players celebrated like years gone by. http://www.fanchants.com/team/3/

If Leeds could perform like this every week then the glory years may just be round the corner again.

Derry was like Bremner, Hleb was like Strachan and Easton was like Giles and at the back Nilsson was like Radebe.

In the league however Leeds sank to mid table with 3 succesive defeats, but a draw at Swansea and a victory gave Leeds a lift and a 3 game unbeaton run.

Been a while since my last update due to losing my last write up. So i will briefly update on the games missed so far.

(A) Wolves v Swansea 3-1 Win

(A) Wolves v Southend 1-0 Win

(H) Wolves v Leicester 1-0 Win Tahirovic

M.O.M Bothroyd

(H) Wolves v Crystal Palace 2-0 Loss

M.O.M Watson

Crystal Palace played us off the park in this game as they played a Chelsea style 4-5-1 and the midfield 3 ran the game for them. Ben Watson and Tom Soares were particulary impressive against a lacklustre Wolves side.

(A) Wolves v Stoke 3-1 Loss Bothroyd

M.O.M Newton

Another lacklustre performance from Wolves saw fellow clan member Matt Bersantie's Stoke outplay Wolves and to compound the misery former Wolves old bot Shaun Newton picked up the man of the match award after tormenting the Wolves defence.

(A) Wolves v Norwich 2-0 Loss

M.O.M Jarvis

After seeing Wolves go 17 games unbeaten Wolves collapsed in the last 3 games and looked like relegation candidates instead of challengers. Wolves were again utplayed and out dominated through out most of the game and were unable to compete with a dominating Norwich team. 9 points dropped in the last 3 games could cost Wolves dearly at the end of the season.

(H) Wolves v Luton 3-0 Win Sankofa O.G, Jeremias, Le Tallec

M.O.M Oakes

A tough game saw Luton match Wolves across the park and only Michael Oakes between the sticks for Wolves stopped Luton getting anything fromt his game. A string of fine saves saw Wolves finally turn the corner and put Wolves back on the winning track.

(A) Wolves v Plymouth Argyle 0-0 Draw

M.O.M Craddock

A trip down to Rics Plymouth saw a dull game end in a 0-0 stalemate with Plymouth lining up 3 ex Wolves defenders in there back 4. Craddock had a solid debut for Plymouth against his old team and picked up the M.O.M

FA Cup 3rd Round

(A) Wolves v Man Utd 3-0 Loss

M.O.M Evra

A tough game saw Man Utd pull off the result most people expected, a little dissapointed i was not able to make this game and my Asst Manager had to take charge.

12th January 08

Keith Lowe 20K To Tranmere

Round Up

Signing 10 Players during the transfer window would normally give you a lot of options, however due to my chairman signing players who NEVER got a work permit, on my behlaf during my absence, i was left with 4 players being shipped out to my Belgian Feeder Club. Then Sidnei picked up a broken leg just before he signed and was out for 6 Months. Thankfully i also managed to sign 16yr old Right Winger Miguel who has went straight into the first team and looks incredibly good. Striker Oyvind Hoas also went straight in to the first 11 and can only be described as exceptional. Ben Amos will add further cover to first choice keeper Matt Murray and could be a star of the future. Ze Eduardo was valued at 2.2M but Wolves took advantage of his minimum release clause and snapped him up for 425K. A young brazilian who will hopefully develop and push for a first team place.

Jody craddock left to go to Plymouth and this meant Wolves had managed to cut there wage bill by 10% just by releasing this one player. Robert Koren moved to Blackburn after being unsettled at Wolves and Johnson moved to Rangers after finding himself behind Tahirovic, Sutton, Bothroyd and Hoas in the pecking order.
