Timma Posted August 31, 2007 Share Posted August 31, 2007 After hearing of the news that Arsenal had let Tim Prescott go it had been rumoured that he would be Liverpool chairman Matthew Kemps choice to take over from Steve Gold who had moved to rivals West Ham. Liverpool quickly moved to offer Prescott a contract but this was turned down several times by the ex Arsenal man, but in the end Kemps persistence payed off and they got their man. This is what Prescott had to say about his appointment: I've had a few offers from other clubs including premiership rivals everton and coventry as well as preston but the chairmans persistance and ambition to make Liverpool back into one of the best clubs in europe again is what made me finally ssay yes after a long period of negotiation. My aim for this season is to rebuild the squad and hopefully make it into the uefa up but this club needs a lot of work before we are to be considered title contenders. With 2/3 of the season gone Liverpool fnd themselves in 5th place and still with a chance of getting a champions keague spot which would be a grat achievement for the club in his first season in charge. Andy1979 Posted September 1, 2007 Share Posted September 1, 2007 After 4 straight seasons in the conf nat, manager Andrew O'Malley has made Altrincham in to a team worthy of finishing inside the play-offs if not top of the pile. After bringing in two yes two polish under 21 internationals among other good youth player O'Malley now has a strong side through out the squad. Although there is financial trouble at Moss lane the chairman has backed the manager by letting him keep his squad together after a lot of bids coming in for our better players. The fans are doing there part by turning up and getting behind the team week in week out and that shows with avarage crowds just short of 2000. Life is good at moss lane and the chairman must only hope O'Malley dosn't get tempted to leave,after all it is down to him we are looking so good for promotion this season. I knew it was only a matter of time before I was shown the door at Easter Road. I could of walked away to save face, but no I stayed, to fight another day. and fight we did only losing 2 games in 13 games, getting thru to Scottish cup S/F after beating Celtic 1-0. with Hearts next up I knew defeat would probably seal my fate and my P45 would be on my desk Monday morning. little did I think beating Hearts on there own patch would seal my fate as well. the board where pleased with the 2-1 win over city rivals, the fans rallied behind me. for what I ask, within 24hours I was sacked. anyway I must dash the phone is ringing................................. stabwest Posted September 10, 2007 Author Share Posted September 10, 2007 stripped to the bare bone With 10 games left to save the 2nd bottom Grimsby from falling back into league two, I had to stick with the basics a simple 4-4-2. The balance was just right as we finished up the season on a 10 game unbeaten run which saw us win 8 of those games, and climb to 12th 9 points clear. While this run was on I also had to build the squad for the upcoming season, and really make my mark on the team. By the time the summer window had closed we had offloaded 20 players either to new clubs or released and in return signed 12 players With the likes of Paul Miller the England u21 gk from my old club Hibs for 850k, Freddy Akerberg who’s now played in 3 clubs I’ve been the manager of. 2025/26 we started the new season with 4 out of 4 wins sitting top on 12 points, then we had a slight dip in form, falling to 5th after failing to win in the next 3 games, a return of form saw us go back top after beating Blackpool 2-0 and Cambridge 2-1 and since the end of September we've been top. Sadly were out of all 3 cups with defeats from Everton in League cup, Margate beating us in a replay in FAC and Halifax knocking us out in the semis of the northern section of the Johnstone paints cup. with around about 300k to spend before the window closes and over on wages, If I do sign a player, hes got to be worth every penny as I don't want to put Grimsby into the red for the sake of a dud. Villarreal in UEFA cup 1st rnd and could face Lyon or Palermo in 2nd rnd while Dundee Utd and Liverpool could meet in 2nd rnd if they both get thru, Utd face Juventus, while Liverpool take on HSV. Goldy Posted September 10, 2007 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Hammering On Champions League Door Well it was a pretty good debut season for manager Gold and to his Hammers reign, a predicted 6th place turned out to be even better as Hammers were running in a decent 2nd place in the league but managed in the end to come 3rd but most important of all, they qualified for the ultimate competition, the Champions League! The Board and Fans were delighted that Gold had managed to bring not just European football to the hammers for another season running but for it to be against the creame de la creame of europe was more than they had expected! Out at the first hurdle of the FA Cup but it was to rivals Chelsea in the 3rd round with a 1-0 loss, Hammers were knocked out again by big London rivals Arsenal in the Semi Final of the League Cup. But there was some joy if you would like to call it that for Hammer Fans as Gold steered them into the Uefa Cup final, on the way they we beat the likes of Dortmund, Besiktas, Benfica and also Tavvs York! However, in the final it was Tim´s Liverpool who took the honours by winning 2-1. A trophy would have been nice but maybe next season will see us rewarded with a trophy but of course priority would be to take another one of the four Champions League Places. So the Hammers are on the up.......lets see what the Summer can bring and how the new season develops, I predict, its going to be a close one! There were some new faces coming in for the Hammers but mainly players which will contribute towards the future of the club and most of these signings have also gone immediately out on loan to our feeder clubs. Transfers Trujillo (Right Winger), Silva (Centre Back) and Duenes (Central Mid) all join on Free Transfers from Barcelona Iacop joins from Burcharest, a young attacking mid. Alain Sauvage - French Right Winger, touted for big big things, at only 17 he is already showing potential to be the worlds best. Michel Geurts - He wanted to leave Citeh and joins us for 12.25million, a dutch midfielder with also big potential Thomas Toppmöller - Much needed right back cover, the german defender will hopefully in the future be the no 1 in that position. Ho-Lee - A bit of a gamble but with already 5 caps to his name I think the 18yr old Korean can turn out to be prize winner Tony Skinn - Another player Ive got hopes in will turn out to be good, hopefully the Nigerian Forward will prove it too! Soriano - The Spanish striker comes in on a free transfer and will hopefully be a future star at the Hammers. Going the otherway is Peltonen, the 32yr old Finish mid enjoyed some good years with the Hammers but with young replacements coming in he was starting to be surplus to my requirements and a big earner on the wage list that I could do without. The Season Campaign Well it wasnt a bad start at all for the Hammers as Champions Arsenal were met and put away nicely with a 2-0 win, a draw with York then followed but unfortunately then defeats to Chelsea and Citeh followed. But after the Citeh defeat we had won at Bolton, Millwall and Sheff Wed without conceding and took a draw against Stevenage. Then in the big game, we defeated Tim´s Liverpool side 1-0 which is the same scoreline we beat Man Utd with infront of the home fans. A bit of a downer losing to Charlton but we recovered with a 3-0 win over Coventry and two scoreless draws versus Birmingham and Norwich. We lost to Sunderland of all teams aswell, so some results could have been better but things picked up once more as we drew 0-0 with York and then also beat Arsenal away and Chelsea at home. With 21 games gone, we have only conceded 9 goals so far this season in the league, a performance that makes me very happy indeed. We are currently sitting third with a game in hand which could propell the club into Top Position! Certainly would be a dream to make that top spot of course but this is the EPL, anything can happen! The Domestic Cups Well lets get started, the League Cup was up first and we are certainly not giving an easy ride here, first up in the 3rd Round we get to face former prem side Notts C, Meier and Matchett doing the honours and taking a 2-1 win. In the fourth round we got drawn against fellow Prem Side Wigan, a tight game that went to Penalties, of course Beattie was the Hero for the Hammers by slotting home the winning kick. The Big One in the Quarter Final as we would face Tim´s Liverpool side, but this being our first home game in the cup we didnt want to disappoint, despite Liverpool going down to ten, they fought hard but Hammers did more than enough to deserve the win. 2-1 win. In the Semi Final we face Millwall, after the first leg in Millwall we curretly trail 3-2 after a 90th min goal from Millwall but hopefully infront of our own fans we can turn things around and make it to the Final! The FA Cup has only seen the 3rd round so far and in that we faced Brentford, who will be glad to see the back of our team bus as we romped home to a 4-0 victory and take us further than last season in this competition! Guerts, Bull(2) and Matchett scored the goals. Champions League In the 3rd Round Qualifier we got drawn against Legia, obviously an easy game on paper but these things can out to be nasty on some occassions, thankfully though, this wasnt to be one of those times! Legia got a goal infront of their Home fans, however the Hammers scored 4 of their own to take back home with them! Back in the Home leg we cruised to a solid 2-0 over the Poles to take us through in the Group Stage and give us a nice big earner towards it too. Well before the Groups were announced, Hammers were put into Seed 1 for the draw, thankfully that means we should not have to face too difficult oppsition! Ok that didnt work out as planned! We face Juventus, Barcelona and the mighty Kilmarnock!! 1st Game we face Juventus and they wish they never put foot in England as they were demolished 4-0. 2nd Game we travel upto Scotland to pick up some much needed 3 points with a two nil win over Killie 3rd Game we face the big one! Barcelona! The home fans loved it, 3-0 against the Spanish Giants was more than anyone dreamed could happen! 4th Game saw us at the Nou Camp, it was a lot closer this time round and unfortunately, we concede our first goal and defeat in the CL 5th game we travel to Turin and show them that what we treated our fans to at home we will do away, 3-0 win here! 6th game saw us against Killie, with qualification already guaranteed we took it easy and won 2-0. A great group stage for the Hammers, 14 goals scored and only one conceded, I cannot complain at all about that but now it will become really tough and the draw showed us that as we have to face Bayern! A win here would go a long way but there certainly wont be any easy games ahead! So its going well so far in the first half of the season for the Hammers, maybe we can even see a trophy of some kind this season which would definately be a bonus to the club and its fans! Other News As other news, West Ham can confirm that they have SPL side Dunfermline as their new feeder club, a deal which will see future Hammer stars out on loan and strutting their stuff in the SPL! RDXCougar8173 Posted September 11, 2007 Share Posted September 11, 2007 After enjoyiing 3 nearly 3 seasons with harrogate town the board gave me no alteranative but to resign so this time i took them up on that option and left the club immeiately and like most managers in the lower leagues had to wait ages for a job to come along which it did and i am now in charge of blyth spartans but i have got a lot of work to do as we are 20th in the league and have missed 97 days of the season but am hopefull that i can get the right players in and get the right result to keep blyth in the conference north then hopefully next seasom push for the title Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

He has until the end of the season to guide his team to saftey and ensure they start to play decent football that of which the chairman expects. With the board currently satisfied but expecting improvements knott isnt letting the pressure get to him as he still has huge backing from the clubs fans. We caught up with knott abut what has changed to ensure he turns things around. Knott commented... To be honest i know the position were in isnt good enough ,but if my defence with what i have to work with this isnt a disaster. Most championship clubs have a striker force worth over 10m and players that can turn games with one goal. WBA havn't spent stupid money. Since at the club i have restructured the coaching staff which has cost money but now i feel this will not have to be changed for many years. The free Foreign players i have brought in are taken a long time in getting work permits and this is a very frustrating time for the club but as soon as i have these players made available to me then we will be heavily stregthened, Alot of players have left the club but thats either only because there too old or there unhappy, The wage bill has been dropped hugely and the club now makes profit of nearly 800k each month. Its true more players are expected to leave in january but im lookin to add 4 key players to my squad and i think these key signing will inspire other players to help this club. Also knott confirmed 1 Player will be returning to West Ham knott thanked Goldy for making this loan move available in the summer and hoped to do more buisness soon. Goldy Posted September 21, 2007 Share Posted September 21, 2007 Golden Hammers Break EPL Tradition!!! There were spectacular scenes outside and inside Upton Park after the Norwich game as Steve Gold´s Hammers were crowned Champions of England and thus breaking the traditional Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd winning the EPL streak! Its the first time the Hammers have won the Premiership and the board and fans are over the moon with the success Gold has brought to the club. The season could have been much sweeter as the Hammers were represented in both Domestic cup finals but the fans are more than delightful to be going home with the Premiership Title. This season has been one of the closet in the EPL for sure and I am more than delighted that we have come out on top, the players have done really well and showed exactly what they are capable off, obviously, there is still lots of hard work to be continued with the Hammers are we are hoping to win some more Silverware in the coming years including trying to get to the Final of the Champions League and also continue the growth of the club. Although the squad has won the league, we are still not yet upto the standard of the usual top clubs like Man City and this summer I will be hoping to bring in some more top class players to help out and hopefully make strides in Europe. Anyway, more soon from the Hammers in the new season update as right now im going to celebrate with the fans......... CHAMPIONS CHAMPIONS CHAMPIONS!!! Andy1979 Posted September 23, 2007 Share Posted September 23, 2007 After 6 seasons of hard work manager Andrew Omalley has finally lifted Altrincham out of non league football for the first time.After a grat season they also lifted the f.a trophy as well, completing a league and cup double that as only been a dream in the past. Omalley made that possible this season and will go down as a hero at moss lane. Life in league 2 will be no push over but we have a sqaud more than able to hold there own.A few players here and there and most imortantly holding on to the young gems already there will be Omalleys main job this pre season. So dont be suprised to see Altrincham among the front runners this season but survivel must be the first thing and then we will take it from there. Plus after a phone call from Stephen 'Bod' McGuiness who begged me to return home and take the reins of his beloved Thistle, as Dick Campbell old ticker stopped on the final whistle of last season when Partick won the 1st Division. there was no-one left to take control of the Glasgow club, more so as MR Partick Ths himself 'John Lambie' was taking his food thru a straw at the age of 86, although was rumored McGuiness had tried, plus failed to allow Lambie leave from his nursing home on match day to manage the team. On the 10th of July 2026 I headed back up north from another stint in the SPL. on joining the club I set about evaluating the squad, looking at areas in which to improve, with the £2m transfer budget to play with it was a case of searching out the best untapped talent that was out there. But trying to attract players to Maryhill wasn't easy, my 1st port of call was back to Grimsby to see if I could bring young Peter Fraser back north, as I had signed him for Hibs and then took him to Grimsby. Grimsby’s asking price was within my reach, but Fraser had settled and had no plans as yet to come home. My 1st signing was Andy Cargill a player I was tracking while at Grimsby and was tipped off by my scout he had been released from this contract at Coventry. Then Simon Daly a former Millwall trainee released, before splashing out on Ruben Cortes £475k, making Thistle his 3rd Scottish club for this former Spanish u21 player. With a further 8 players signing up, 7 of them being on frees, with Martin Muller costing £525k from Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow. The pre-season had all gone to plan knocking up some good results and bring in some fresh blood. So now to the hard part the season its self, we started with a tricky away game against Caley ths which was won 2-1, then faced Celtic at home that saw us lose 2-0. Then the league cup which saw as face Montrose and we destroy them 5-0. All was looking good, and maybe we had a chance of finishing closer to the mid table than the bottom. But a run of 9 straight defeats put us in our place, Rock bottom. A 2-0 win over the Pars ended that run and shone some light on our season, we faced Celtic at Parkhead next and feared the worst, but came away with a 1-1 draw, and that seemed to lift the lads helping us go on a wee mini run of 6 games unbeaten in the league. Now in mid Jan and sitting 11th and out of both cups, but still within 11pts of 5th place hearts, we have everything to play for and that’s what where going to do for the final half of the season.
