__McD__ Posted December 30, 2006 Share Posted December 30, 2006 Well with already 66 goals in 26 games and sitting 4th in the table its been a dramatic turn around in AFC Wimbledon's fortunes. 10 players were sold/released at the start of the season and 13 being brought in over the period of the season with some of the standouts being David Galbraith and Mark Little but McDougalls best captures was re-securing Tommy Lyons whos on loan from crystal palace and struck 22 goals in 25 appearances and strike partner Lukas Jutkiewicz a free signing from swindon only 19 years old whos struck 20 in 25. The manager and board are equally delighted and McDougalls comments to the critics who slated team at start of season for being a mid tabel outfit was simply...... knotty_100005 Posted January 2, 2007 Share Posted January 2, 2007 So i got a call from a chairman boyant and full of energy , he approached me about taking over a club on the up just promoted from the Ryaman League, i thought yer ill give it a go only live 10 miles away ,how hard could it be? , and how wrong could i have been ! I recieved a text message saying to meet at the ground in 20 mins , Ok i thought as i started to prepare my first speech for the squad , about wearing hearts on sleeves usually ******** ( OR ANGER!!!!). When i arrived at the ground No steward in sight , no Nets up , not even a tea hut , But Most Alarming of all NO PLAYERS!!! .The Chairman Looked at me And said heres ur chance to Build a Team you want! NOW go out and get what i want ! (he was only on about the corner flags) My first Signing was Chris Hope former Gills Man he came in as my Right Hand man! Got all my backroom staff in place , Now for the exciting part playing staff , well was excited only until i found out my wage budget was 2.5 k , (cant even afford a Tatics Board ) Let alone Boot the Water bottle then replace them we aint even got any int he first place ! Brought in new squad which i feel is capable of Staying in the divsion , several; oldies with experience most notably Alan Pouton former Gills man ! As busy as i was looking into new players , so was my chairman looking into parent clubs and i was delighted when he announced a partnership with Tottenham Hotspurs (here comes Lennons Boot Cleaner) i Got Fagan on Loan who will score goals for Margate ,if Margate ever wore the Ireland u21 Kit or maybe i need to addopt an Irish acsent! So 14 Games in were sitting 17th which is an achievement in itself , we now have half the squad on full time contracts most notably there all subs and the starting 11 are all part time especially as i cant find one of them in the second half ! No staff want to go Full time so the players must just sit about at training Gambling and Hiring Hookers! Im confident Margate can stay up , because it would be a dying shame to loose such a well run club ! oh and Hope got sacked because he punched 1 of the players when he found his missus copping it off with are Guinea internation (HUNG LIKE A DONKEY!) Prescott has lost only one league game since he has taken over (other loss was ass man). Prescott is related to Stevenage manager Tim Prescott, so it seems that managing skills run in the family. Steve lashed out at his brother saying that he could take on his team anyday so they are going to have a "friendly" match at the start of next season to see if he was right. Stalybridge sit in a comfortable 2nd place which could have been 1st if they had a good ass man. Steve would personally like to thank Taav for giving him such a great striker for free. Rhodes has helped the team keep on winning. Will the badgers be celebrating at the end of the season? It seems like only Burton can stop them. One stand out in the wimbledon team has been John Bostock who crystal palace sent to Kingsmeadow due to the parent agreement formed a season before. The midfielder has struck 23 times in 34 games many of them have been vital for late wins. Although McDougall cant boast the same strike talent as last season in Tom Lyons there is still no lack of goals at the club with 60 goals in 31 games and only 19 against theres just no good news for the other clubs as AFC Wimbledon look and show the potential to go all the way to the end and rap this season up early. TafKin Posted January 18, 2007 Share Posted January 18, 2007 HOLIDAY The end of season 09/10 - pre-season 10/11 After seeing his team not having any chances of getting promoted nor relegated, York manager took a long holiday, visiting his native country of Estonia, to see what new buildings have been built and how much forest have been chopped down and if local currency still exists after all these years etc. It was one of these long holidays... 5 months of beautiful local girls and warm sunny weather and sandy beaches and old town pubs full of british blokes... oh what a great holiday... except the british blokes part. Tavv had seen enough of them.. there are even few still playing in his York team. The other negative thing was that when he turned on his mobile (aka cell phone) on one beautiful tuseday afternoon, while lying on the beach, a short SMS (aka text message) came from the chairman, quote: Gaal sold to Hibs, 1.1mil, c u soon, happy holidays. WHAT?!? What the ****, you little ****, **** ******** ****! My god, if it would have been raining and windy and cold and only ugly people aroung at that time, Tavv would have gone bezzzzerk.. but now the sun and the warm summer breeze and nice torsos made this message seem unreal and all will was going to be fine and nobody sold anyone and all players are with their families and/or girlfriends/mistresses, enjoing their holidays and thinking about next season and how we will win everything and everybody... Tavv switched the mobile off, put on his sunglasses and was looking cool and calm.... he actually looked like a million dollars. and he could do that, because his team just made twice as much! stabwest Posted January 27, 2007 Author Share Posted January 27, 2007 After a very average start to the season we find out selves sitting mid-table after 17 games with no players brought in due to the finances at the club and none planned either in the future, its gonna be one indifferent season for the U's, while we try and balance the books by selling or releasing players with the likes of Scott Price joining Oxford for £100k and Carey-Bertram and Jevons being freed to join higher league clubs in order to lower the crippling wage bill, and Jack Ross having his contract ripped up, this leaves us working with the kids and hopefully we can build a strong youth unit within the club to aid our process and in time take Cambridge back into league football where we belong. knotty_100005 Posted January 29, 2007 Share Posted January 29, 2007 MARGATE FC Manager 'Rob Knott' was Called in the Latest of the 'Make Margate a Big Club' Scheme Meeting for the first time for all board members , directors and chairman to congratualate and share the same enthusiasm they all have and hold for the progress for this club. With Survival the only main goal set for Knott by his board members, he delighted to have achieved this 2 season in a row now. The first season was 'squeaky bum time' with the club sitting in 19th place 1 above the drop the second season was all about bringing experience in, keeping the same group of players together and building a team capable of promotion in the plan of 5 seasons. witht he scond season coming to a holt and Margate sitting in 14th a real feeling of sucess stands around the ground. With the chairman currently ongoing talks with the scheme in place surely knott will only have funds to build on .and create many of margate fans dreams!. Ozdemir who had 2 titles with grays athletic said hes happy with their current squad and he said that this is one of the best in League one now. 12 games left in this season and Grays are currently lying in 10th place 4 points away from playoff spot. Guest Posted February 5, 2007 Share Posted February 5, 2007 hey all seen as tho i not actualy posted on here yet, i figured i would give a very breif history of my oxford career thus far. i took over after they had had a run of average to poor seasons and were in 500k debt! so first things first i banished a lot of the nobodies to the reserves and began to search for some hidden jems in the free agen market. i dont use scouts i search for the players my self, an i think im pretty good at it. as u might remeber i signed a lot of players in my first season prob more than 11, and so with all the new faces another average season followed. slowly tho they began to gel and be effective and get results, and i had a very good season just finishing outside of the playofs near the end of the season. this formed a good base and i folled it up with some excellent loan signings! Roque from liverpool/portsmouth on season loan probebly being the best, as i lost count of the clean sheets he and my newly gelled back 4 earned! becoasue of this amount of clean sheets i was having a great season and a certain james hall was bangin goals in like no tomorow, with partenr nathan joynes ( i have big hopes for him) form barnsly begining to perform also. to say james hall was good is a bti of an underestimate, i ended up selling him (the board did) to hearts for £2million!!! ching ching, and he is now actauly at man united in the firs tteam squad and is still only 20! after a long season i finaly got promotion as champions all be it by goal difference, and had money in the bank! good effort! my first season in league football followed, but i didnt want to spend my new found money yet, as i had faith in my signigs, i just made acouple from ther good performers from the conferecne to strengtehn my squad, and i have enjoyed a very good season finishing just out side the playoffs on goal differecne (karma!) nathan joynes has had agreat season. this has now set me up with a new base, and next season wil be the season i will try and bvring the team up to the next level with a few more excelelnt signings. (i consider myself a lil arnsne wenger lol) so overall its been a pretty good turn around and thigns look good for the oxford!!! p.s. i no have a massive squad and there will be a lot of players with lots of potential for conference and below available this summer for loans or transfers, im not greedy i will sell too so SUMMER CLEARENCE SALE at oxford! have a look around Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
