Drat. A relatively even gme but Loch Ness manage to get the win and move five points clear in the league as we pass the halfway point, could this be the first season we don't get promoted? Elsewhere we make our Football Times Cup debut with three wins from three and topping our group!

A shock loss to Lewis & Harris in the Football Times Cup Semi Final and just the one match in the league being  good win over Bonar Bridge, also this month we have visited a new stadium! We made the trip to Kinross to face Fossoway AFC in the Non League Cup.

And just like that our season is basically over, we got FM'd away at Alness, struggled with injuries against Inverness Athletic and then a loss to Lowland League side Linlithgow Rose in the Non League Cup but we did get to tick off a new stadium!

For the very first time we don't win promotion! And neither did Loch Ness as they finished bottom of their promotion group which was won by Tayport who then had to face the team predicted dead last of the Highland League, this league is going to be rough to get out of! Jamie Stephen is unhappy due to our lack of DM depth so I've had to quickly sign two DM's who were free the week before his contract expired in order for him to be happy to stay!

Fantastic thread @Makoto Nakamura - I'm new to the forums but am familiar with the Scottish non-league journey having managed Orkney over the past 3 FMs, and not once got out the North Caley League! I know just how frustrating this league can be. I will be giving it another go this year, but I think you've got it in you to crack this league (and the horrible playoffs that come along with it). If I could lend a piece of advice it would be to perhaps abandon prioritising the cups (you may be doing so already) apart from the Scottish Cup obviously! From my experience post Christmas the fixture list does dry up a little and as it becomes such a short league season, the emphasis and pressure on each league game heightens, so if I had spare weeks I would stick a friendly in just to keep up the sharpness.

Really enjoying the amateur starting point you and others have done this year, despite restricting yourself to Highland only players you've done well hoovering up talent from higher tiers, putting you a class above pretty much everyone. I don't think this will be your ceiling, as long as you can stay consistent, keep up momentum and morale, and stay lucky (we all need a bit of luck), you'll get there in the end. I will definitely be loading in the amateur leagues for my save to keep an eye on all the teams you and the others have discussed above - might even find some players to pinch!

Will be following along the journey.

Thanks for the comment Jamstock!

Christ, well this year is your year then.  That's a good shout, the aim should definitely be to get out of the North Caledonian League as for some reason it appears that the teams in this league aren't entered into the Scottish Cup which is our only real source of money so we have to get out of here!

I've enjoyed the amount of Scotland saves already, if you get a chance check out my Shetland & New Elgin saves, both of which went decades into the future! :D

Ah. As you will see in my profile, the team I support is Loch Ness FC. They won the NCL last season but wasn't eligible to even take part in a play-off as they don't have their own ground. BUT what they did get as a reward for NCL champions was entry into the Scottish Cup. Went out at the first ask, but even so, it was the biggest game in their history.

In our careers, we (me and Jimbo) get to be in the pre-preliminary round of the Scottish Cup when we get to tier 10, WoS D4.

I see you were entered when you were in tier 7 but not before or after. Interesting. Must be you came up a different branch of the tree. Maybe the dude who made the db added his own idea in the fantasy levels but stuck to the real take when it came to the NCL.

2028/29 Pre-Season

1e67b15401df3d18a4eb1bacc7aa2b59.png

We conceded in every single match, good thing we can score a lot more than the other sides!

Predicted up in 4th this season, a spot higher with slightly better odds whilst newly promoted Dingwall are favourites to win the league and last seasons winners Loch Ness are predicted down in 7th!

I would say it's been another successful transfer window! Funnily enough Derek Dolan has been on loan to us for the last two seasons so we've signed him on a free and he's immediately gone back to his old club.

A shock loss to Maryhill in the Non League Cup with an xG of 1.88 to 0.83 and then an even more disappointing result at home to Alness United where we conceded their only 2 shots on target with our 2.47 xG to their 0.37 apart from that though it's going well where's we're currently seven points clear with a game in hand!

Two good wins to finish the season! Last season we finished with a goal difference of +24 and 35 points, 9 points off of Loch Ness in 3rd place, this season that would have won us the league on goal difference, onwards to the playoffs which will see us visit a couple new stadiums!

Two late goals as Carnoustie tried to chase the game which means we ease into the playoff final!!

This is it now! The BIG game.

Don't want to add any extra pressure but this arguably your biggest game(s) of the save so far, well, until you reach the Highland/Lowland playoffs and the SPFL playoffs!

You're bound to smash it! You couldn't be entering in any better form.

We're also the 3rd team to get promoted from the North Caley league after St. Duthus & Balloan. Thanks! :D
