Especially as you don't appear to be spending it Some winnable games to come in the PL, hopefully you can find a way past the Belgians. The money that is really pilling up is the Premier League TV Money. It pays for our operating budget since the Board and Jester are Cheapskates looking to play Moneyball. The biggest transfer fee so far has been $14.5M, but our best players Charlie Patino and Nico O'Reilly were Free Transfers! We are building for the future, and you will see in the near future some spending to take us to next level hopefully.
Hootieleece
March 2030: Regular Season Manager's Thoughts March was a busy month for the team because of the Europa League. The team also had three winnable matches in the league but match congestion kept Jester from playing the starters in all of them since the Europa League now had priority. The Man City match shows the failings of the more defensive system, but with the players they have PNE would have been hard put to get a result. The team didn't exactly put in great displays in the other league matches as well due to the use of the backups and the more defensive system. The great result over Club Brugge over Two legs was the real highlight of the month where the team were at their best. Jester also started thinking about what the team would look like next season and made a signing and renegotiated a contract for our best player Charlie Patino! Schedule Highlights The month of March started out with a trip to East Anglia and a match that the team should win. and the team came through and did a Professional Job. In other News Sean Dyche wasn't out of a job long..... He reunited with his old team and our Archrivals Burnley! Burnley is in a Relegation Fight! With the team probably safe from relegation Jester decided to turn his thoughts to next season. With Leicester City about to be relegated Jester went after one of the players he was after last summer. Preston swooped in and offered 5X what it would have taken last summer but it had to be done. He is earmarked to replace Ali McCann as Patino's partner in the Defensive Midfield. The Team then had to play a League Leading Manchester City side led by Haaland..... Jester played more conservatively but it didn't help....Man City are just too good even with Haaland resting! Another move that happened was that Jester moved Team Captain McClelland. He had been complaining about playing time and had slid down the pecking order in the backline and even after a run of matches was still complaining about it. Jester sent the player to Korea! Jester would have liked to have kept him for personality, but he wasn't happy as a backup. So after the Man City defeat the team prepared for the Europa League! The first match was in Belgium and Jester played Defensively and ended up with a 1-2 Victory on an Extra time goal. The team then headed for Leads using the same tactics but the Backups lost 2-0 to a struggling team. After that the team returned to Preston to await the Belgians. The fans were hyped and thought we would win..... Jester decided to play offensively and use his Starters to get the win. Winning both matches puts us through to the Quarterfinals! This win changed Jester's mind and the team will continue to play his Starters to see how far we can go in the competition! The team will take familiar foes AFC Bournemouth in the Quarterfinals. Preston has a chance! The last match of the month was against relegation threatened Leicester. Jester played a rotated team due to the match coming two days AFTER the Europa League. The match should have been won but Jester will still take the point! That much closer to safety. The Poor Man's TAA played a great match in the Draw against Leicester. and as we head into the Quarterfinals and homestretch we lose our starting DM-D. Biggest News was that after some more scouting expeditions from Tottenham, Jester negotiated a better deal for Patino who is now Team Captain. He is the player that makes it work....that is why Jester is doing everything to keep him at Preston. I think it was a UEFA Conspiracy to keep at least one English team from having a chance to win it! LOL! Actually, even though the Cherries play the 4-4-2, We have a 4-2 advantage head-to-head. Hootieleece
April 2030: Regular Season "The Dream is over....." Manager's Thoughts The month of April was a short month with only four fixtures. The Month started off with a long layoff from playing that lasted 18 Days! Jester thinks the time away from matches contributed to poor showings in the matches this month. Against Bournemouth Jester can be considered a little guilty of Over confidence because he was looking ahead and already dreaming of another trophy. The team put in two shambolic defensive performances in a row versus both Bournemouth and Liverpool. Afterwards a team meeting righted things but the damage was done all that was left was to make sure of safety in the Premier League which was mostly accomplished by the end of the month. Schedule Highlights The month of April began with the team on an extended break of 18 days between matches and whatever momentum we had was lost. Man City ran away with the League Title winning it with 6 matches left in the season.....No one can stop Ademyi and Haaland from scoring! The team also continued to build for next season bringing in a young Uruguayan Wingback. For $5M Jester thinks he is a Steal...... The team used all that extra time to get ready for Bournemouth in the Europa League. Bournemouth was favored by the experts but Jester felt confident in his team. He decided to play more defensively to nullify the Bournemouth longballs over the top. That was a mistake dropping deeper only gave Bournmouth better positions to launch them from.....The day was awful defensively and the only glimmer of hope came from Xavier Simons World Class shot from 30 yards that swerved and beat Jordan Pickford who was on top of his game during the match. Jester gave the players a hair dryer afterwards..... The team then had to travel to Anfield low on morale. A rotated team was played due to this being only 3 days after the Bournemouth match. Liverpool just had too much quality and PNE went in thinking they were going to lose..... In Other news the team was one of Six teams to actually make a profit this season. During the time away from training Jester called a team meeting and did his best to raise morale among the team going into the second Leg against Bournemouth. For some reason PNE was favored....must have been the keyboard warriors at Central Lancashire University! The team played their usual way but it wasn't enough to overturn the first leg result, but overall the team played better.... Jester thought we had a chance to win if we could get past Bournemouth, but the 4-4-2 and over confidence led to the loss. Almost $2million dollars for losing isn't bad....right? The team then had to take on Tottenham who were chasing Charlie Patino. Scott Parker playing mind games had he seen us lately? It was a lucky draw but nonetheless Jester would take the point towards assuring safety. Jester wants to score more goals! But he needs players to do that! This years academy prospects don't look to inspiring! League Table Monthly Analysis Report We are good defensively and that is why we are most likely safe again this season. Player of the Month This Player did some great things coming off the bench in the two draws this month changing the matches in significant ways defensively. Hootieleece
May 2030: Regular Season "Playing out the string" Manager's Thoughts The team had nothing left to play for in the league or in Europe, but Jester wasn't looking for lethargic performances of a team already on vacation. To counteract that tendency in the players he alloweed them to play the 5-2-1-2 WB and play toe to toe with all comers. It led to two wins and two close defeats. This meant that the team kept playing to the end of the season. Schedule Highlights The team came into the month of May with nothing really to play for safety was assured and Top 7 or 8 for a possible European place was out of reach. So the team was playing for pride and professionalism that Jester didn't let them forget. The month started with a trip to Everton where Jester was hoping for a win against a relegation threatened team. It wasn't meant to be as Everton came storming back after going down to win it with two late goals. The team returned home to Preston chastened and took on Southhampton who was in a similar position as PNE. The boys played well and dominated the south coast side. and the stats prove it! After that smashing victory at home it was time to travel to Newcastle. Jester with nothing to play for decided to let the players play our style instead of the more defensive formation against the top 6. This time PNE got the last-minute goal for the win! The team was lucky as the stats show but it meant the boys were still invested and not playing golf or heading to Ibiza. The Newsie's put out figures on Transfer Spending and Percentage of Turnover spent on payroll. The figures aren't horrible and PNE is living within its means. Also the Europa League Final saw Bournemouth lose..... The Final match of the season would be at Deepdale and Chelsea would be the visitors. Again PNE tried to play toe to toe with a big boy and even though we lost it showed how far we had come! It was a relatively even match. Real Madrid do Real Madrid things.... and this guy was suggested to be our new Chief Scout! League Table Tenth place is respectable and an overachievement! We are some of the best blockers and Clearers in the League and have two of the best Crossers of the ball as well. Making the Quarters was an outlier since in "League Play" I used our Backups for the most part. Jester was always concentrating on the Premier League First. As for the Uruguayan Left Back, He will start as the backup to Bueno but he might end up overtaking him before the end of the season.
Hootieleece
May-June 2030: The Offseason Manager's Thoughts Jester went into the Offseason thinking that Preston other than not getting European Football was in a good place and might take the next step with the right signings. That was not the case because of a Bombshell. Gavin Bazunu wanted out and He wanted European Football that both Liverpool and Newcastle could provide. So Jester had to replace a big reason why we are so defensively sound. Unfortunately there aren't many top goal keepers that tick all the boxes that Preston can afford. Otherwise we will end up with Jonck, South Africa's #1 at 22, as our keeper and Jester is afraid he isn't ready for primetime even though he played well in the Europa League last season. Highlights The offseason started with a board meeting that let Jester know the budgets for next season. The same as this season. The core supporters are increasing hopefully there will be a few more season ticket holders! Jester chose Scotland since we are popular there. We will now have top level youth academy and facilities. Something that will be necessary to make this project sustainable. The Marketing Department talked about sales in the meeting..... After the board meeting Jester took some time off and headed to the Golf Course for some R&R. He didn't forget his cellphone though! He negotiated an extension for our top goalscorer! The 9th of June came and all the transfers that Jester had made during the season showed up! Including this transfer that makes Ali McCann redundant and he won't take a smaller role remain on the team. Liverpool and Newcastle wanted our Goalkeeper and Jester couldn't negotiate with him because we didn't have the European Football he craved! Preston is in the Top 100 and 16th in England! Because of the pending Bazunu Transfer Jester got to work looking for Goalkeepers with similar attributes and settled on this guy. He is signed as a backup, but if Jonck can't make it as number 1 or Jester can find another this player will get time in net. Bazunu chose Newcastle! This still leaves a hole in our team because Jester is unsure Jonck is ready for the Number 1 jersey. All from the Bazunu Transfer! A review of the past season was enlightening! Another Board meeting was called and he expectations for the season were announced: with more money in the payroll budget and plenty left in the Transfer Kitty....Jester went in search of a new Number one Goalie! He would make a suitable replacement, but we are battling Real Hispalis for his signature. The following players were added for the U-21 Team: and Gibson is happy being a backup on a Premier League club! Hootieleece
July 2030: Preseason Manager's Thoughts The team is coming along well we beat smaller teams like we should but when we play teams of our stature, we are missing two things Shooting and goalkeeping. Shooting will hopefully get better and the same with the Goalkeeping. Jester is pessimistic about it though. At least we have a chance to lay a marker down in the Relegation battle in the first month playing all three of our direct rivals. Also not having European football should mean a better chance to play the first team in every match without scheduling congestion. Schedule Highlights The Board finally decided to add personnel to the staff recognizing the fact we are now a Premier League Club! Our target for new #1 Goalie spurned us for Real Hispalis.... The Team then returned from vacation and started playing Friendlies. Against smaller teams we looked good against comparable teams not so good. We played Celtic and it was close, but the team forgot how to shoot on net! They are all trying out to be NFL Kickers! The stats were close and it was a fair result but team needs to do better. At the end of the Week we took on Rangers as well An interesting E-Mail came after the World Cup! Also our Wonderkid Left Wingback will miss the start of the season After our week in Scotland, we returned to Deepdale Stadium and took on SC Freiburg the Europa League Champs! This one we should have won! XG of 4.39! World Cup The World cup went on this Summer. Season Preview We are expected to battle for survival yet again, but we are better than any of the promoted teams! Financial Report Looking Ahead Jester thinks we will be able to start the season well and is looking for 9 of 12 points. to be continued:
Hootieleece
August 2030: Regular Season Manager's Thoughts The team wasn't looking great after the preseason but Jester was looking for 10 of 15 points before the international break. Mostly because three of the matches were against direct rivals in the relegation battle. The team came out lighting up the scoreboard against these teams and thankfully since the team has seen some less than stellar goalkeeping. The team is also still having probalems against teams that play the 4-4-2. Against Swansea they parked the bus, and we couldn't score. Against Bournemouth they pressed we beat it but were let down by our goalkeeping. It is looking like it will be an exciting season in Lancashire but one that will give the manager indigestion. No second Breakfasts for Jester! Schedule Team Preview Goalies Wally Jonck is the starter for now. Joe Bursik is a competent backup and Harrison Foulkes (not shown) is the Emergency Plan. Centerbacks Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Alfie Dorrington, and Luke Mbete are the Starters. Jamal Baptiste, Kaiden Wilson, Lewis Gibson are the Backups. Kian Kelly is a U-21 player training with the First team and the emergency. Wingbacks Dante Cassanova and Hugo Bueno are the Starters. Colombo will push for Bueno's place by the end of the season. McCallum is a backup. Woodhouse is U-21 player and Emergency plan. Midfielders Patino, Leyland and Castledine are the starters and the rest are backups. Xavier Simons listed with wingbacks is also a backup. Strikers O'Reilly and Roberts are the starters. Starting Lineup and Formation Highlights The first match of the season was to be Norwich visiting Deepdale Stadium PNE was favored. and lived up to their billing. They also found their shooting boots. If Jester had anything to complain about was the defending and Goalkeeping! Also Nico O'Reilly was injured and will miss the rest of the month! Here Jester was criticizing the Defense and one of his CB's is player of the week! The next match wouls see the team head to Liverpool to take on Everton. Since this was a midweek match, the Backups would be used because of a Rivalry match on the Weekend. The backups played well but weren't ready from kickoff and were a little slow getting started a lot better after Halftime, but the damage had been done. Preston would get a visit from Forest Green another match for the Backups. The team had to put the loss to Everton in the back of their memories and ready themselves for our LOCAL RIVALS: Blackburn Rovers. Blackburn was promoted to the Premier League through the playoffs and might be the worst team in the league. and PNE proved that to be true with a demolition of their Rivals! Just about everyone put in a superior performance. Our passing and penetration took advantage of their right flank. Bueno had a field day. The recipient of all those crosses was the big man Roberts! The Blackburn Manager wasn't thrilled that Jester always wants to beat local rivals! Jester not worrying about that "tinpot" club. The next match was a trip to Swansea in Wales. A club that plays the 4-4-2 that we have trouble with. We played well but ran into a Hot Goalkeeper. He made 10 saves! Just look at the stats we should have won this one..... After the Disappointment in Wales the team hosted Forest Green at Deepdale. PNE was favored and would play the Backups with a big match with competitive rivals Bournemouth coming up! Former player Kieran Watson played for Forest Green......he made a few appearances for the club but was more of a U-21 player. The Backups did a great job even though Watson was allowed to score. As a reward we will play the Wolves next in the Carabao Cup! The team had one more match before the International Break. This one against Bournemouth. Bournemouth was the visitor and still favored. Will the home Underdog have its day? It ended in a stalemate due to terrible goalkeeping by Jonck. Stats show that this is another match we should have won..... Hootieleece
September 2030: Regular Season Manager's Thoughts The month of September started with Jester petrified that he would lose his star players because of how well everything was going. After the International Break the team picked up where it left off. A close stalemate with Newcastle, The Backups beating Liverpool, and the Starters throwing Goal party against the Wolves in the Carabao Cup. The only thing that slowed the team down was Tottenham and even that match could have been a win. The team is playing well and with confidence and is among the best defensive teams in the League. If the Goals keep coming this may be a season to remember! Schedule Highlights The month of September began with the end of the Transfer Window and an International Break. Jester spent a nervous final day of the transfer window because there were rumors that teams were lining up for Patino, Roberts, and a few of his CB's. In the end no one left on the final day. This low amount of Commercial income directly affects the payroll budget. The team has the 19th biggest payroll if We have to resign Patino, Roberts and others we have room to go up to about $85M, but that is about the limit because that means that 90% of the Premier league TV money is on the pitch, and that leaves the team vulnerable to player raiding. The team returned from the International Break and readied themselves for a trip to Newcastle. Our Former #1 is in Goal and Jester is hoping to get a few past him! The team continued their plundering ways but the step up in talent playing a Top 7 club was evident but PNE held their own. More of a problem was the loss of Bueno leaving the team without a Left Wingback! Jester also had to answer questions abour Roberts! The stats show that we more than held our own against Newcastle. Next up was trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool. Jester decided to let the boys play since we are in good form and see if we could get a win. and it was rotated team that played against Liverpool and got the three points! Stats show we were lucky, but sometimes you need luck! The next match would see the team visit the Wolverhampton and Molyneux Stadium for the Carabao Cup. Jester played the Starters and Finley Roberts had a party! as a reward for crushing the Wolves the team will now play Bristol Rovers! Jester will decide if he should play a rotated team closer to the date. The team then returned home to Deepdale Stadium to take on Tottenham. Tottenham was favored, but would the home dogs pull off the upset? Not this time, Tottenham scored a goal in extra time after an even affair that looked like it was going to be a draw. The team played a relatively even match even if we weren't at our best. The unbeaten streak is over time to start another! Hootieleece
October 2030: Regular Season Manager's Thoughts The team continued its great play in the month of October with another win over the Wolves, but the clincher that something special might be happening in the "Shire" was when PNE upset League Leading Man United at Deepdale Stadium. The Team is continuing to play good defense and now the goals are coming. The question is can the young team continue to play like this. Right now they look like "world beaters" even if there was some luck involved. Jester decided to stay with PNE because something special seems to be happening even though he had an offer from one of the top teams in the world. Schedule Highlights The month of October started with a rematch against Wolverhampton. This time Jester expected more fight from the Wolves. The First team would face them once again the only player missing would be Bueno. Another Victory not as convincingly as the cup, but a win is a win. They had more and better chances but couldn't put them away. After the match against the Wolves came another International Break during which Jester was busy negotiating with his biggest Stars and their Agents. Patino our biggest Star took a small pay cut and Jester made his release clause over $100M! Roberts got a pay raise and a bigger release clause as well. ($90M) That should keep both players in Lilywhite for a few seasons. After the International Break came Man United to Deepdale Stadium. The Supporters were up for it. It was "Gentry" Day! and the team put on a display worthy of the Fans! A 2-1 Victory! Famous Win! It was lucky but it also showed how reliant we are on Patino and Roberts! After the visit from Man United came Leeds United FC to Preston as well. Preston due to recent form was considered the favorites. The team did just enough to see them off with a clean sheet as well. After the match Jester was asked why does he buy so many young players? Building for the Future, but is the "Future" Now? SkySports reported that Liverpool had fired their manager......the first of the season..... The Final match of the month was against the Bristol Rovers in the Carabao Cup. The Bristol Rovers were near the bottom of the Championship and Jester decided to rotate the Squad and give some players a rest against them. A former U-21 player anchors their backline. The Rovers played tough taking the lead, but the substitution of Mark Helm and Finley Roberts gave us the extra talent needed to breakdown their bus. A halftime "Hairdryer" helped as well. a bit player who is on the team as depth showed his worth..... As a reward for winning the match we will take on Chelsea next: after the match with Bristol this email showed up on Jester's Laptop. After some discussions with trusted mates and mentors.....Jester did this..... Turned down one of the biggest jobs in the world mostly because he wouldn't get any satisfaction out of it. He enjoyed building a team and a culture around a young core. It reminded him of his days as a Classics Professor at Central Lancashire University. Hootieleece
November 2030: Regular Season Manager's Thoughts The team kept up its good play throughout the month of November. The only blip was the draw against Brentford. The Highlight was definitely beating Man City at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the month. The team is being led by the singular excellence of Finley Roberts in front of the net, but everyone contributes a little bit in every match. Jester doesn't want to jinx it, but this is beginning to feel like Leicester City in 2015. Somehow, we keep on winning......We should get to safety sometime in December if we keep up this play. Schedule Highlights The month of November would see two fixtures then an International Break. After the Break would come two more matches including a trip to the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. First up though was a trip to Birmingham to take on Aston Villa. It looked like a rather even match with AV favorites because of Home Pitch Advantage. Dean Smith is back again as Aston Villa Manager and had some "Mind Games " for us. The team ignored the Praise before the match but proved worthy of it by winning a tight affair. The Stats were very even but winning matches like this are what champions are made of..... The team then returned to Deepdale Stadium to host Brentford before the Break. PNE was favored, but would have to do a professional job. Brentford played us toe to toe and a stalemate ensued that saw each team get a point. The stats show how close the match was..... The media noticed we are playing well.... and the Analysts wanted to get in on the season of good feelings over the break by forwarding Jester this report: It shows mostly positives. The negative is Cassanova losing possession the most but in our gameplan he often has the ball as we attack the opponent's Left Flank to setup our Attack. The World Top 50 Players Unfortunately, no PNE players made the list. The team then came back from The International Break..... Biggest News of Note was Charlie Patino got his first England Cap! The team then had to ready themselves for a trip to the south coast and Southhampton. Preston was favored even though this was a road match...... Sean Dyche is out at Burnley after another bad loss.....always good to see Archrivals in Turmoil. PNE won the match easily 0-2! It was a master class of offensive possession breaking down a "Parked Bus". Also after the match Jester was asked why his team doesn't commit many fouls.... This all sets the Stage for a trip to the Etihad to visit Erling Haaland and M Pochettino. Jester wants to show the Man City supporters that we are for real..... Pochettino tried to blow it off..... He regretted it....and Finley Roberts did his best Haaland Imitation! The Team is now in Second Place! Finley led the line! Our upset made the Sky Sports Highlights! Finley was the Player of the Week! Efficient pass map and we even hit the "magic number" of 500 passes! decent soundbite from Pochettino! Hootieleece
December 2030: Regular Season "Running with the Big Dogs" Manager's Thoughts The team continued to play well in the congested month of December. A few more draws than Jester would like to have and a terrible loss to Tottenham that seems to be our bogey team this season. We lost both meetings. The Carabao Cup saw the Backups eek out a win on Penalties against a strong Chelsea team that the Starters could only draw against a few days before. The most impressive victory was the one over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in London. As one supporter put it in a Sky Sports interview. We are now "Running with the Big Dogs" Schedule Highlights The team took the time between the many matches to negotiate new contracts for a few players and the man leading the merry band of marauders, Jester. Mbete's deal gets rid of a $32M/ release clause and now he is no longer wanted. Dorrington's Deal increased his release clause from $64M to $80M! No longer wanted. The poor man's TAA signed up longterm and his Transfer Value made him unaffordable which was the intention of the deal. Afterwards the Board called Jester to a meeting to brook the subject of an Extension, because of the interest shown in him the board thought it would be a good idea to tie him down long term like the players. Jester agreed to a 3 year extension that doubled his salary! I think that the Title is out of reach but European Football, hopefully Champions League is possible. Mostly because of match congestion in December and January.
Hootieleece
January 2031: Regular Season Manager's Thoughts The team continued its good play except for the loss to Man United at Old Trafford the team earned points or won Cup games that will lead to a chance at a trophy. Due to match congestion the Backups played almost as often as the Starters and there was little difference in results because of what XI was on the pitch. Now that the match congestion is over The starters barring injury will play most matches as we make our way towards a possible Champions League place and or other trophies. Schedule Highlights The month of January started off with a tough test for the Boys from PNE. It was a trip to the "Theater of Dreams" to play the League Leaders Man United, who would be looking to avenge their loss at the Deepdale Stadium. It was a tough match where the PNE Boys did a lot of defending, which isn't a bad thing as we are pretty good at it. (more on that later) The match ended with a 2-1 loss because of a late penalty. The team had to pick themselves up after the loss because of a match just a few days later against Wolves. Because of Match Congestion Jester played the Backups! and the Backups stood up and took their chances leading to a 3-1 victory over the Relegation Threatened Side. Of more interest was the fact that Finley Roberts is becoming a target for Transfer....even with his $90M Release Clause. The real reason for the Backups playing against the Wolves was that Jester wanted to beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup for a chance in the final and a Trophy. Arsenal was favored and the first match was in London. The matchday came and we played well and escaped with a victory when Jester would have been happy with a draw. but the victory was Pyrrhic because another of our CB's went down to injury. This meant that the Backups would play the next match to rest the starters for the Cup. The next match was against Burnley in the FA Cup. It was a tough match for the backups but scoring twice late allowed the team to come out winners. Now we are down our backup Left Back. Our next match in the FA Cup is versus Portsmouth, Jester expects to rotate the squad for that match. Arsenal then made the trip to Preston to finish the Carabao Cup Semi-Final. Arsenal was favored but Jester new we just needed a draw to advance..... and that is exactly what we got against the defending champions. For our efforts we will play Liverpool for the Trophy! A trip to London was set for the final at Wembley! The team had a another trip to London to deal with first, this time to Craven Cottage to play Fulham. This would be another match with a rotated squad. The Backups gave reason for Jester to think....but in reality it was a close match on the pitch until after Fulham went down to ten and Finley Roberts was brought on. Highlights of Roberts goals made SkySports! Term Moffi led the line though! NewCastle United, Now Tottenham.....Hand off! Everton was the next match.....the First team would play in this match. It was a tough match and ended in stalemate but could have been different! We hit woodwork 4 times in the match! League Table Monthly Analysis Report Overall performance is good, scoring more than we concede. Our Defensive numbers are interesting....(Best in League) Also interesting is our Attacking efficiency. We take about 12 shots a match and score on 14% of them leading the League! Financial Report after a rather slow Transfer Window...(we did add a few U-21 players) We are still near the bottom on payroll......definitely overachieving! We are doing well both Chelsea and Liverpool are floundering in Midtable and there has been some luck involved, but I am constantly afraid that the match congestion will catch up to the small squad. And or one of my Key Players is bought in a transfer window. At least I don't have to worry about the latter till this summer.

Top four is definitely doable this year Spoiler: They get their revenge in the next update. I have young players who have the right attributes for the roles they play. Most were overlooked by the big boys and now I am reaping the rewards. It will probably be hard to keep a few of them this summer even with release clauses. Because of those release clauses I should be able to by some suitable replacements.

I think that the Large Clubs underestimated us and were complacent. In the Next update Arsenal gets revenge with a formation change to a 4-3-3. I think that we could use some hardware and not just a top four spot, even though that would be nice and help keep the players from leaving (Patino and Roberts). Hootieleece
February 2031: Regular Season "Gunned down" Manager's Thoughts The team kept playing well except for the terrible home loss to the Arsenal. Unfortunately it was only four days after a match with Man City and the team wasn't fully rested. The entire defense was befuddled by the new Arsenal Formation and it was the worst performance of one of the best defenses in the league. The team is probably out of the title fight but seems to be in the drivers seat for Fourth place and a Champions League spot. Which would be welcome because that should allow us to keep our top players even with their release clauses. Schedule Highlights The month of February started off with another trip to London this time to take on floundering Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea was favored because they are Chelsea. But it didn't matter we got an early goal and our defense stifled their attack. based on the stats we could have scored more! The next match was against Norwich and Jester rotated the Squad. The rotated squad was ready and the team wanted to put on a show to get more playing time. The team is doing well financially but investors must be attracted to the "Futures" Market. The rotated squad had some trouble with Norwich. and Nico O'Reilly helped us claim a draw from the jaws of defeat. The next match was a trip to Portsmouth for the FA Cup. Jester expected to play the rotated squad yet again. Portsmouth was relishing it chances with a home match against us. Then came the injury bug......in the Goalkeeping department! Both the first and second keepers go down. Thus it was up to Emergency Keeper: Harrison Foulkes! He had a relatively easy time of it, but made a couple of key saves. Norwich would be our next opponent. By rotating the Squad, the team was able to field the First Team minus Jonck against Man City at Deepdale Stadium. Man City with Haaland was of course the favorites. We played them tough and just about won the match except for Haaland in Extra-Time! Four Days later the First Team was tested again this time by Arsenal.....They were looking for Revenge and had changed their Formation to 4-3-3 from 5-2-1-2WB. Yes, the boys were tired but that didn't give them an excuse for this Defensive **** show! Even the stats prove we should have lost..... and after the Arsenal Disaster Takeover Rumors persist..... and the injuries continue to plague us..... This time one of our front two! The final match of the month is against West Ham United. Some mind games before the match. But it didn't matter! even though we went down to ten men we got the Victory! Thanks to our Goalkeeper making 8 saves! The first match of March will be the FA Cup versus Norwich. Hootieleece
March 2031: Regular Season "Trophy Chasing" Manager's Thoughts The team continued its good play in a month dominated by cup play and an International Break. The Team reached the Carabao Cup final and did themselves proud defeating favored Liverpool in Extra time. It was the "Hobbit" Finlay Cross-Adair that scored two goals to win the trophy. The season is a success already but there is more to play for and the boys seem up for the challenge. What is at stake? A top 4 finish and a possible FA Cup Final if they can win at Wembley again Twice! Schedule Highlights The month of March due to the schedule would see the team spend most of their time in Cup Play. Starting with the 5th Round tie versus Norwich at Deepdale Stadium. Now that we are nearer to the end of the Cup Run the Starters are playing instead of the backups unless injured. Even though the starters played Norwich gave us a tough fight that went to extra time and penalties! Very even stats! We are now down Two Strikers..... and as a reward for beating Norwich we will get: We will play the Wolves just before the International Break! It is a winnable match. After the match congestion in January and February having a week off before the Premier League match with Brentford felt like forever. It was another trip to London and Jester wanted to do better than the last trip. Relegation Threatened Brentford played their hearts out and denied us the victory! We hit woodwork 3 times in the Match! Jester is trying to battle complacency in the team because of the Draw instead of win even though it is due to luck! No more Takeover Rumors..... Time for a Final! Liverpool is the Favorite, but don't count us out. Liverpool is in 8th place in the Premier League playing better under a new manager. Our Star man Roberts who only does basic passes is about to set a club record for Assists....he does play CF-S! Match Day came and it was an academy grad off the bench that won the Final for us. Finlay Cross-Adair that Jester affectionately calls the "English Messi" even though he is only a backup player. Match Stats show it was a close match and luck went our way this time! The board is pleased so season is successful.....but there are other targets to try for! We are the overachievers and Champions! Youth Intake Randolph Prince Leyton Slaven Xavier Fawns None of these players look great now but maybe in couple of years they can be backups and help fill out European Cup Registration. The FA Cup Quarterfinals were the last match of the Month, and it was held at Deepdale Stadium PNE were favored to win but needed to do a professional job to advance to the Semifinals! And that is just what Jester got from the Team! As a reward for reaching the Semifinals PNE's next opponent would be: About as tough a match as we could get..... After the match 25 First and U-21 players joined their national teams for International Duty. 50 Best Wonderkids League Table Monthly Analysis Report Still good defensively. and efficient even if we hit the post and crossbar a lot! Hootieleece
April 2031: Regular Season "Trophy hopes dashed" Manager's Thoughts The team kept up the good play in the league and Jester even rested the starters before the FA Cup Semi-Final. It was all for nothing as our dreams of a double were shattered by Phil Foden. That left us playing for the top four and we are in a leading position holding fourth place currently and having a small lead. The Newcastle match next month will decide it. PNE will have European nights no matter what having already qualified for the Europa League. If we get Champions League, the team will need to add some players over the summer to deal with the match congestion. The team had an advantage this season because it was concentrating on the League and Domestic Cups. Jester knows that our starters can compete at the highest level but we need to upgrade the depth if we are to really challenge for titles and trophies. The Man City match proved it. Schedule Highlights April started with the publishing of Jester's Favorite list: And these are the players PNE is likely to sign from it. Steven McCarey Derek Wheatley Kristoffer Mardal All three look like useful players for the U-21's and maybe to loan out. Maybe in a couple of years breaking into first team. The first match of the month was a trip to Leeds United. Leeds was favored but PNE needed to do a professional job to keep them in the race for the top four places. Leeds Manager ran off with his mouth.... and his team was made to pay with an 0-2 loss! another injury during a match......our AMC-SS-A After the match Jesper started signing the Youngster on the list to contracts: Mardal will be converted into a DM-D for our formation. He is a little short. Castledine had been playing well and deserved a new contract. 10 goals and 7 assists don't hurt. The next match would bring Southampton to town..... Jester decided to rotate the team for this match...... and the backups did a wonderful job. In between matches the media showed that Preston was making a small profit even with the increased spending. The next match was the FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley Stadium versus Manchester City. The first team was rested and ready for the match..... not really....Man City really stepped up the pressure after halftime and we couldn't respond..... So, after that misfortune the team had to rally and prepare for Aston Villa. The match was a draw.... but according to the stats we were lucky! The final match of the month would see us play relegation threatened Swansea. Looking to qualify for the Europa League....and after that possibly the Champions League if we can secure a top 4 slot. We put the nails in their coffin...... So someone else will be in the Europa Conference League. The Youth Candidates came through and look ok.
