August 2024 Transfer Window

This is the first window where we were pursuing lower-league players under 18. So, let's look who we brought in

Transfers IN

b83f381dcd992761f6cc373ca5d5699f.jpg

  • AMRC Mal Richards (£800k, rising to £2.3m with clauses, Cambridge United)

This was our first player incoming. Pacy with technique, he'll be a great develop and sell candidate.

9f728f22ed25ff326c6d97602245c844.jpg

  • AMR/ST Sion Owen (£2.5m, rising to £3m with clauses, Bolton Wanderers)

Again, a develop and sell candidate as the rest of them are, however he may get the odd sub appearance due to his position.

3c4bddfe43e10c59d2780f5a0cdfe2bb.jpg

  • M/AMC Shaun Jones (£1.5m, rising to £5.5m with clauses, Plymouth Argyle)

Shaun is going to be battling with Stewart Archibald for the backup AMC position next season.

74851ff517aed7083c589a25804821a4.jpg

  • M/AMRL Gideon Tetteh (£500k, Shamrock Rovers)

A raid over the water for a player that could hopefully develop into a servicable player

c17ee07ab306f8ff336cd11352edccd5.png

  • M/AMC Dani Ceballos (Loan, AS Monaco FC)

A player of his calibre available on loan for just his wages and no need to buy? Easy money

Transfers OUT

ST Odsonne Edouard (£49.5m, Everton)
DRL Alex Phipps (£550k, Aston Villa)
DRLC Joel Ward (Free Transfer, FC København)
AMC/ST Jean-Philippe Maleta (£20m, U.C Sampdoria)
DLC/DM/MC Jaïro Riedewald (£3.1m, ACF Fiorentina)

This was an odd window. Edouard made it clear he was not signing a new contract at the club and I needed to get money for him, so when Everton came in for me, I had to let him go, which left us very light up front as Mateta had triggered his buy clause in his loan deal, as did Riedewald. The Joel Ward transfer was a dump of an un-needed player and the Alex Phipps sale was a very annoying one, as I tried to get him to sign a new deal and his agent played hardball. It got to the summer and I went to reopen talks and the agent entirely refused, leaving him vunerable and Villa took advantage. I then went through who the agent represented and it turned out to be a lot of our youth players. So I gave them all long term contracts with 3 year club options for a bit of extra cash and I will refuse til my dying day to give them a better deal.

Fulham Season 2

Mid-Season Update

It is January 1st 2024 and we are just over halfway through season 2.

4abbb451ea8dc648213b1a702dfc431b.png

The start of the season felt very much like when I first took over. We couldn't put two wins together but seeing as we played United, Arsenal and Liverpool all away I can be forgiven. We started terribly in Europe thanks for a lackluster performance against, on paper at least, the easier team in the Group.

0bc81b0720940f6faf6ff2ed5f01e9b4.png

The next two months saw a change in fortunes. We got going finally. Big wins in Europe but us back on track to qualify and we were where we expected to be in the league. We hit a rough patch, we dominated against Newcastle, one of those games. We were 1-0 up against RB Salzburg before going down to 10 men, we couldn't hold on and Chelsea...well...Chelsea destroyed us and we were lucky it was only 1-0. Still in all 4 cups though and we went into our last game in the Europa League knowing a win against Maccabi Tel-Aviv and we were through.

6d2005ddd82cdae5f5e872eb3c54778d.png

December was a long old month and we were finally being punished for having a small squad. I trimmed it massively.

We will play European Football after Christmas.

d816edd210a1c22fe025200b9d41e4e7.png

Comfortably coming second in the end.

We will play 1. FC Koln in the Playoff round after they dropped down from the Champions League. I thought it could have been much worse.

We bowed out of the League Cup on penalties. Axel Tuanzebe left the day after the lost to Everton and his last kick for me was missing the penalty that knocked us out. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

League form was good. We finished the year with contrasting performances. We were awful aganist City but amazing against Liverpool. Go figure.

01158170abee554763ee5fb11078e09e.png

If the season ended today we would be on the outside looking in for Europe but amazingly we are only 3 points off a Champions League place, and looking at the fixtures I think we have had out harder part of the season already. Lets do this.

One transfer already in.

44ebace00aaba76cb8ff038f260f5511.png

He joins us for 5.5m. Another CM. We have loads. We need defenders. Only issue is we only have 1 more signing we can make and the squad is already bare. So we can't afford to really lose many players over the January window.

Quinn Sullivan becomes the last player I can sign under the rules until the opening of the Summer Transfer Window.

Honestly I think I'm more than set with Midfielders and Attacking Midfielders.

This kid is 19 years old.

I don't think I need to buy anymore players for a while. I am happy with the side and confident I can be challenging in a few years time.

Current look at my squad suggests I need to invest in the defensive side of things.

e8f0ad0ca6fbf43d9c8ba893271604da.png

I have this Youth Prospect currently out on loan at Bath. He seems the natural successor to Leno. Leno being the only player over the age of 30 in the entire squad. With everybody else being 28 or under.

I have 5 seasons after this one to win the League. I think we are on course.

This is the column that worries me.

7 players with Minimum Release Clauses for Clubs in a MAJOR European Competition.

All of them are for way more than I spent on the player so if worst happens then its good value. But some of them (Rieder) are sitting right in the wheelhouse of their transfer value. Most cases I couldn't remove it, so I've tried to maximise when possible.

With me not really looking to strengthen the squad much during the Summer. It might be a good idea to reevaluate these contracts and maybe increase the wages in order to get rid of those clauses.

UPDATE*
Rieder has signed a new contract. Wasn't able to get rid of the clause but its been increased to 88m
Farias the same, still a clause but its now 60m. Much happier, and now over wage budget haha

Two new Elite Youth Prospects.

My Keeper from last season has been on loan at Bath all season and is progressing nicely. The other striker has only just turned 17 so not been able to loan him out.

I am going to use the money we save by hopefully not needing to buy anybody in the Summer on Youth and Training Facilities.

Fulham Season 2

2023/24

8cd717e8f0e222f4f327e2465b351eac.png

That FA Cup exit to Bournemouth hurt, lower league opposition. It means that in 10 years told when I win the Quadtruple the headlines will be "Yeah but remember 10 years ago when you lost in the 4th Round of the Cup lol".

Good aggregate win against FC Koln keeps us going in Europe. We have a good draw as well.

In the league we are plodding along nicely. We still have top 4 ambitions.

1aac0bb136aa641f3d716b72c4903e01.png

Too many draws. Way too many dropped points in the league now means the Top 4 is gone and we are looking at a fight just to keep the European places. Olympiacos gave us a scare but a later "winner" for us. Real Soceidad was a great tie. It actually went to Extra time but we smashed them all over the park in those 90 minutes to secure a surprise Semi Final place. We haven't played anybody massive which has helped.

By the time we played Soceidad we were on fully "eggs in the Europa League basket" mode.

5260029320f71e11bf5715bf6bf82b6d.png

We went into the final game against Arsenal knowing avoiding defeat would see us secure European football next season, unfortunetly we fell short.

We finished 8th.

Now the big one. As you can see, another Extra Time showcase saw us knock off Lazio and qualify for the Final of the Europa League and my God it was a good game against Levekusen.

We started slow. Conceding in 3 minutes, luckily it woke us up and Evander equalised less than 10 minutes later. It was a nip and tuck first half with both teams creating chances. Schick scored just before the half which gave me a big half time team talk. We huffed and puffed for the half, survived some scares but kept in the game. It was looking like we were going to just fall short. Up stepped Vinicius, who has had a brilliant season. He grabbed an equaliser 87th minute. Boom! Extra time we go. We are kings of extra time! But this time it was us on the back foot. We kept them at bag and 30 agonising minutes later we were staring at penalties.

Both teams scored their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th penalty. It was down to sudden death. Who would blink first? It didn't take long to find out as the 6th penalty was the deciding one.

a7b5e226973278c27c6032d13e4e92f1.png

We won the ruddy thing!

327e6737094140b84c305b96a7240b69.png

I didn't want to spoil the surprise that as we know with the Europa League comes a Champions League berth. Absolutely amazing.

Now I remember saying I was happy with the squad and I wouldn't be spending much if anything...

Fulham Season 3

Off-Season

I mean come on. I couldn't not spend money right!?

I did stick to my guns however, we have a Training and Youth Facility upgrade in the Works.

But I bought 3 players. Two Center Backs and another Midfielder, because, evidently I have a problem.

f4a0bedc1b98d58312ceb2d342bcd362.png

Moroto comes to us on the cheap. He cost 14.5m (so maybe not that cheap). I wanted players who could come in and would improve, neither of our defenders have any improvements in them so hopefully, this guy will get better.

7f579e050c2b8dbecc9cf64989822252.png

Ibanez is hopefully going to be the crown jewel of the defence. Room for improvement and already good. One of the future.

It does mean we have a lot of Centre Backs. There were some interest in some players over the Summer but nobody was bidding and players were getting frustrated I was offering them out. I didn't want upset in the squad so had to promise I wouldn't sell them.

f058a174a76f23d25b879e812b61cbe0.png

Yeah it was a rough Summer.

Pereira, I accidentally promised playing time. Playing time I don't think I'll be fulfilling.

The last signing has the chance to being the signing of the summer I think.

4e78527fe1867ca78413e3d0a52a72e2.png

Only 21m got me this guy. I've been buying players in the hopes they will reach their potential. But if a player like this falls into my lap for 21m I can't say no!

bad54e05bb6a7bb2d86cb0cce250c5f9.png

Pre-Season was largely uneventful, Ass Man was in charge really.

We are ready for the next season. I think a European Challenge is on the cards and a good showing the Champions League.

Another poor season, but we've again been running the second XI in the Prem this season. We need some of our young kids to step up next season

Jan 2025 Transfer Window

Transfers IN:

4e91aa4b6074e643e18acdcf263d49b8.png

  • DC Travis Akomeah (£500k, rising to £11.5m with clauses, Chelsea)

This is literally a buy-and-sell issue. He's got talent, but I could happily get rid for a huge profit

3849464508770a83adfce21a9fb65cf1.png

  • AMC/ST Jake Vermiglio (£5k, FC United of Manchester)

Again, for £5,000, this is a bargain.

fa0628663c38204591859bc704fe7126.png

  • DRC Lewis Allsopp (£350k, rising to £850k with clauses, Rochdale AFC)

A good talent here and there is hopefully a lot of growth in the role

2856d4decee27414f3dfa602ffee568f.png

  • MC/AMRC Adam Miles (Loan, £2.5m future fee, MK Dons)

This little beauty will kick beautifully with the talent that's available.

This is the most embarassing result of my career so far. Losing to a club 4 leagues below me and so comprehensibly is shocking, but deserved. We had 29 shots, an xG of 3.37, hit the woodwork three times and were awful

Another 'golden generation' eh? Once again, I'll believe it when I see it. Let's have a look at the top 3 prospects.

1. Wilfred Tshibuabua (AML/ST)

1c80c0ba54bb0fba7877f5e08efb21b4.png

We finally get the home-grown striker that we need. Wonderful.

2. Steve Davies (M/AMC/ST)

Steve, despite being able to play up the middle, will be re-trained to play in the DM slot.

3. Jason Todd (AMC/ST)

Jason will have to go 'under the red hood' and maybe re-train as a AMR

2024/25 Season Review

Premier League

966903f859b30d80b1f0592fad0874b4.png

This was a bit of a disaster season in the league. Thumpings of 2-6 by Liverpool, 0-5 by West Ham and 0-9 by Manchester City gave us the worst defensive performance of probably my entire FM career to date. But, my policy of concentrating on the cups whilst our second XI gets supplemented by our academy prospects is bearing fruit with the UEFA Europa League win which puts us in the Champions League for the very first time.
