Punch
SEP 2023 - Match Day 8 - At Beaconsfield Town FC Match Report Spoiler A game that was a lot tighter than it appeared. We got an early goal, but there was a lot of back and forth, with neither side being able to take advantage. It's was all action in the final 10 minutes though as the hosts struck first to level the scores, before Allen struck a late winner five minutes later. We managed to hang on for the final few minutes, despite a big push from the home team, and secure the three points. Table Spoiler We move back to 5th spot. Punch
SEP 2023 - FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round - Vs Great Wakering Rovers FC Match Report Spoiler We made much harder work of this than it should have been. A lone second half strike by Allen gave us the win, sending through to the next round. A decent crowd in to help the finances is a positive. Four more debutants from the class of 23, including keeper Jones who kept a clean sheet. 2nd Qualifying Round Draw Spoiler We host Basford United at Footes Lane. Up next...back to League action as we host 6th place Slough Town.
Punch
SEP 2023 - Match Day 9 - Vs Slough Town FC Match Report Spoiler A stunning result as 6 different goal scorers got on the board, including a first senior goal for 23a Joe Docherty. We were nowhere near a 5 goal better team today, but every time we hit the target, the ball went into the net. Their poor keeper did not have his beset day. Table Spoiler We rocket up to second, although most other teams have not yet played their 9th game. Up next...we travel to 15th place Harrow Borough.
Punch
SEP 2023 - Match Day 10 - At Harrow Borough FC Match Report Spoiler Despite blowing the host off the park in the first half, taking a 4-0 lead to the break, we fell asleep at the wheel in the second half. The hosts pulled three back, and it wasn't until a late Canha goal, that we secured the points. TO give up three goals to an opponent on an xG of less than one makes for a disappointing day, despite the win. Table Spoiler Since losing our second game of the season, we have now gone 8 without loss and find ourselves top of the table on goal difference. There are two sides just behind us with games in hand though. Up next...an extra FA Cup game this month, as we host Basford United in the 2nd Qualifying Round. Punch
SEP 2023 - FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round - Vs Basford United FC Match Report Spoiler Many are calling it an upset, but we dominated from post to post. A Ross Allen hat-trick, and a rock solid defensive display book ended a magnificent performance to book us a spot in the 3rd Qualifying Round. 3rd Qualifying Round Draw Spoiler We host division rival Swindon Super Marine, who gave us our only loss of the season when we met on League Match Day 2. Up next...back to League action as we travel to 12th place Poole Town.
Punch
SEP 2023 - Match Day 11 - At Poole Town FC Match Report Spoiler We were slow out of the blocks as we allowed the host to rattle up a 2-0 lead by half time. A missed penalty after half time, and it looked like it just wasn't going to be our day. Legg made up for his miss getting us on the board finally, and we kept pressuring, finally rewarded with and equaliser in injury time to youngster Docherty. Probably a disappointing result as we were the better team for most of the match, but only got a draw. Table Spoiler The teams around us have played their make up games, and some have played extras, so we've dropped back to 4th place. Up next...a big clash at Footes Lane as we host competition favourites, Weston-super-Mare, who started the season slowly, but have been in good form recently.
Punch
SEP 2023 A great month as we have two draws book ending three straight League wins, and two FA Cup wins. We did find ourselves top of the table for a while, but when other teams played their catch up games, we found ourselves back in 4th place. Still a massive achievement considering we are predicted dead last. Stats Goalkeepers While it hasn't been all his own fault, Jordan Kelly has been a little disappointing, with his save % well below his expected save %. While he is not in danger of losing his spot yet, with a little more development from Jones, and the addition of another keeper in April, he may find himself in a fight sooner rather than later. While he hasn't had a lot to do, Jones has performed exceptionally well in his two Cup appearances so far. Defenders I have been a little disappointed with the Tobin brothers so far, so the youngsters have been getting plenty of minutes. Midfielders The midfield continues to be solid, Gauvain and de la Mare the mainstays, with a few of the kids starting to get some minutes. Forwards Allen and Canha just keep doing what they do, but I have been really impressed with the improvement in Docherty, he is going to be a special talent. Two Cup games at Footes Lane did wonders for the bank balance this month. Another busy month coming up, as our FA Cup campaign continues, and our FA Trophy campaign begins. Punch
OCT 2023 - Match Day 12 - Vs Weston-super-Mare AFC Match Report Spoiler We do down in a tight one against the Seagulls, our first loss in ten. We always seemed to be chasing the game, and when it looked like we were back in it, we gave away goals again. Table Spoiler The loss drops us to 5th, and we are conceding way too many goals. Up next...FA Cup action returns to Footes Lane, as we host Swindon Super Marine in the 3rd Qualifying Round.
Punch
OCT 2023 - FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round - Vs Swindon Super Marine FC Match Report Spoiler A solid performance to beat a team that had beaten us earlier in the League season. Two quick goals after half time, and a late sealer were enough to send us through to the next round. Another youngster getting on the scoresheet, and breaking the record for youngest scorer. 4th Qualifying Round Draw Spoiler A tough draw as we head to National North Scunthorpe, giving us another game in October. Up next...back to League action as we host the struggling Met Police at Footes Lane.
Punch
OCT 2023 - Match Day 13 - Vs Metropolitan Police FC Match Report Spoiler This one hurts in a few ways, as we should have won, but gave away a late equaliser. It got worse when we lost our leading scorer for a month. Not a great day at all. Table Spoiler We are sitting 4th after Gosport lost, but it could have been so much better. Up next...Our FA Trophy campaign begins as we host Chasetown at Footes Lane.
Punch
OCT 2023 - FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round - Vs Chasetown FC Match Report Spoiler We sent the kids out to play in this one, and they didn't disappoint, although Harry Tobin continues to worry me, being sent off early again. The kids held firm in the second half, despite being a man down and under plenty of pressure, to advance to the next round. Two more debutants, both scoring as well. Parker breaks the youngest scorer record. 1st Round Draw Spoiler We've made it to the 1st Round proper, where we will host division rival Harrow Borough. Up next...back to League action as we travel to 9th place Hungerford Town Edited January 27 by Punch
Punch
OCT 2023 - Match Day 14 - At Hungerford Town FC Match Report Spoiler We limp to a disappointing draw as we fail to put our chances away. These Tobin boys are doing my head in, now Frank has been sent off for the second time this season. Getting harder to pick them in front of the kids, despite their long service to the club. Table Spoiler Winless in three, we fall out of the play off spots. Up next...we travel to Scunthorpe for the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round.
Punch
OCT 2023 - FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - At Scunthorpe United FC Match Report Spoiler We performed pretty well to stay in the match for as long as we did, even drawing level late in the second half, before the hosts class showed through, and they ran over the top of us. A solid performance against a team well above our level. A shame it was away, we would have had a lot more than 1,500 at Footes Lane. SO our FA Cup run ends at the 4th Qualifying Round, for the second year in a row. Up next...back to League action as we travel to 3rd place Bracknell Town.
Punch
OCT 2023 - Match Day 15 - At Bracknell Town FC Match Report Spoiler A real arm wrestle, but we went down in a tight one at Bracknell. We created a lot of chances, but really struggled to hit the target. Table Spoiler From nine without loss, to 5 without a win. How quickly things can change. That run has dropped us down to 8th place. Up next...we host 13th place Salisbury.
Punch
OCT 2023 Last month we were celebrating 9 games unbeaten, this month we are 5 games without a win, losing two and drawing two League games this month. We exited the FA Cup at the 4th Qualifying Round, while winning through to the main draw of the FA Trophy. Without a win we have tumbled down the table this month, ending it in 8th place. Stats Goalkeepers Kelly is still performing well below expectations, which is not helping our leaky defence. Defenders With games coming thick and fast, there has been plenty of rotation, allowing for plenty of the kids to get minutes. Midfielders Plenty of rotation through the midfield as well, youngster Dennis Salmon has started putting in some decent performances. One to watch. Forwards Allen and Canha continuing to lead the way, Docherty is ever improving, but needs to become more lethal in front of goal. Good crowds at our Cup games help with a brilliant month financially. Will be interesting to see how it goes now we are out of the FA Cup. I completed my second Licence. The first time the media had linked me with a job at another club, and the Board were delighted with my response. Out of the blue I received my first ever interview offer as well. The schedule calms down slightly in November, and the FA Trophy continues with our first venture into the 1st Round proper.
Punch
NOV 2023 - Match Day 16 - Vs Salisbury FC Match Report Spoiler A hard fought, if not very exciting match, but importantly we came out on top, and with a clean sheet. Docherty puts the ball in the net straight after me calling for him to get more ruthless in front of goal, which was also pleasing. We lose on of the kids for a few weeks, but this will be softened by the imminent return of Ross Allen. Table Spoiler We rise a place to 7th. Up next...our first venture into the FA Trophy main draw as we host League rival Harrow Borough in the 1st Round.
Punch
NOV 2023 - FA Trophy 1st Round - Vs Harrow Borough FC Match Report Spoiler Ross Allen returns from injury in spectacular fashion, scoring a hat-trick to guide us through to the 2nd Round. Some great performances up and down the park, as even though we came from behind, we dominated the match. 2nd Round Draw Spoiler We host Bognor Regis in the 2nd Round, giving us another game in November. Up next...back to League action as we travel to 3rd place Bedford Town. Edited January 27 by Punch
Punch
NOV 2023 - Match Day 17 - At Bedford Town FC Match Report Spoiler We made much harder work of it than we should have, but we got out of it with the win and the three points. The goals were flying in in the first half, but we managed to get to the break with a lead. The second half continued in the same break neck pace, but all of a sudden, neither side could hit the target. Table Spoiler Back to back wins and we climb another spot to 6th. Up next...we host 5th place Gosport Borough.
Punch
NOV 2023 - Match Day 18 - Vs Gosport Borough FC Match Report Spoiler A tight tussle, with plenty of chances created, but we were made to pay for not taking them, with the visitors scoring a late equaliser. They were favourites, but we dominated the game, but this is another one that feels like lost points. Table Spoiler We drop a place back to 7th. Up next...we travel to 20th place Yate.
Punch
NOV 2023 - Match Day 19 - At Yate Town FC Match Report Spoiler A dominant performance up and down the field as we smash Yate. Just the one first half goal, but we really turned it on in the second half, running away with it. A clean sheet was the icing on a really good result as well. Table Spoiler No movement here as we stay 7th. Up next...a tough match as we host 2nd place Taunton Town.
Punch
NOV 2023 - Match Day 20 - Vs Taunton Town FC Match Report Spoiler A tight affair at Footes Lane, with neither side able to find a winner. Both teams had their chances, and while the xG suggests we should have won easily, we couldn't get passed their keeper, who had a great game. Been playing around with the graphics, and in the meantime, found a few extra screens I wasn't aware of before. The heat map shows a match that really bogged down in the midfield, and we did get out chances in the box, we didn't make enough of them. Makes for very interesting reading. Table Spoiler Last month we were 5 without a win, now we are 5 without a loss. We have jumped up to 6th place, although there are some teams around us with a game in hand. Up next...FA Trophy 2nd Round at Footes Lane, as we host Bognor Regis.
Punch
NOV 2023 - FA Trophy 2nd Round - Vs Bognor Regis Town FC Match Report Spoiler A hard fought game as we get the better of The Rocks, but only just, needing penalties to get us home. We took a lead into the break, but an exchange of goals after half time left both sides looking for a winner. We ended up going to penalties, and it was the visitors that blinked first with a good save from Kelly to give us the advantage, making no mistake, we booked out spot in the next round. Another mid field slug fest, although we probably had the better of the attacking chances, we again struggled to make them pay. 3rd Round Draw Spoiler A brutal draw as we get National League Oldham. The minor saving grace it that it's at home, so we may get a decent crowd turn up to see a higher division team, than if we'd been drawn away. Up next...back to League action as we travel to 17th place Tiverton. Edited January 27 by Punch
Punch
NOV 2023 After really struggling through October, we managed an undefeated November, winning three and drawing two of our League games. We also won two FA Trophy games to advance to the 3rd Round. We find ourselves just outside the play off spots, in 6th. Although we have lost less games than all the teams in the play off spots, we have had a lot of draws comparatively. Stats Goalkeepers Kelly's save percentage has increased, but still well below expected. Defenders While our defensive line has had it's struggles this season, it is encouraging to see the improvement from the class of 23 kids. Midfielders This table always looks bloated because the forwards are mixed in, Gauvain and de la Mare are the main starters, but Dennis Salmon continues to improve. Forwards Plenty to like among the forwards, Allen and Canha just keep doing what they do, Docherty still improving. Cameron and Easter also getting minutes. We turn a small profit this month. Two more job offers this month. Another busy month coming up, along with the FA Trophy 3rd Round.
Punch
DEC 2023 - Match Day 19 - At Tiverton Town FC Match Report Spoiler A disappointing result as we go down a Tiverton Town. They took a 2-0 lead to the break, and despite creating plenty of chances, we just couldn't hit the target enough to run them down. Table Spoiler We still hold 6th place, but the table has tightened up. Up next...we travel to 10th place Dorcehster.
Punch
DEC 2023 - Match Day 22 - At Dorchester Town FC Match Report Spoiler While it looks like an easy win, we had to work hard for it. It was a pretty tight affair until the hosts had a player sent off just before the hour mark. Form there we were able to make the numerical advantage work in our favour and run away with it in the final 25 minutes. We dominated through the midfield, and our defensive effort was fantastic as we only allowed them two shots inside the box, and neither of them hit the target. Table Spoiler We rise into the play offs spots on goal difference. A lot of teams in close proximity though. Up next...we host 13th place Totton.
Punch
DEC 2023 - Youth Intake Preview Strikers, attacking midfielders, defenders, and a possibly exciting goal keeper. The lack of central midfielders is a bit of a worry though. Still, a very positive looking second intake. Will be very interesting to see what we end up with come April.
Punch
DEC 2023 - Match Day 23 - Vs AFC Totton Match Report Spoiler We had a shocker! A crazy first half, turned into a pretty dour second half, as we concede four at home in a dismal display. We were two down before some fans had found their way out of the car park, but managed to work our way back into the game, two quick goals leveling just after the half hour. But we went to sleep just before the break, conceding two quick goals, to fall behind again. The visitors parked the bus after the break, and although created a few chances, we couldn't break them down and perform another comeback. Keeper Kelly had a really poor game, his form is really bad at the moment, and it might be time to consider a change at the back. We dominated the midfield, mostly in the second half, but couldn't chase them down a second time. Table Spoiler A loss drops us out of the play off spots, back to 6th. Up next...we host 14th place Swindon.

Do you think lower leagues are tougher this year as I recall you won almost every division on your way up last time? Thank you! Hard to tell so far. We won level 10 in a canter with IoM, but we started in a higher level here, only making the play offs, probably winning against the odds. Might become clearer what it's like after the next intake, and we are playing mostly just academy kids. 5 hours ago, Maw74 said: Doing well with a very good chance of making the play-offs. Punch
DEC 2023 - Match Day 24 - Vs Swindon Supermarine FC Match Report Spoiler A tough match in many regards. We couldn't hang on to the lead, didn't take chances we crated, and lost Tobin to a long term injury. While Tobin has been a frustrating figure in our defensive line, he has been a mainstay for a long time. It's a serious injury and he will be on the sidelines for a long time. We were the better team for most of the match, but failed to take our chances. Sounds like a common theme to our season. Table Spoiler We drop a place to 7th. Up next...we host Oldham in the FA Trophy 3rd Round. Edited January 27 by Punch
Punch
DEC 2023 - FA Trophy 3rd Round - Vs Oldham Athletic AFC Match Report Spoiler A massive upset at Footes Lane as we win our second straight FA Trophy match on penalties to bounce Oldham out of the competition. We looked the more likely and got the goal before the break, before the visitors leveled just after. We played some good attacking football in phases, but we couldn't get the winner, so off to penalties it went. I finally lost patience with keeper Kelly, and made the change to give youngster Jones his shot, and didn't he repay in spades. He made several good save during regulation, before making two huge saves in the shoot out to help seal our spot in the next round. 4th Round Draw Spoiler We travel to Dunston for the 4th Round. Up next...a tough match as we travel to 2nd place Truro. Edited January 27 by Punch
Punch
DEC 2023 - Match Day 25 - At Truro City FC Match Report Spoiler A heart breaker at Truro as we lose deep into injury time. After we scored first, the hosts hit back either side of half time to take the lead, and threatened to run away with the game. Some solid defensive efforts kept them at bay, and we managed to start turning the tide. A cracking header from Hickinson leveled the scores, and we were probably over achieving at that, but there was a a feeling that we could get something from the match. It wasn't to be though as the hosts scored a very late goal to take all the points. Even though we lost, there was a lot of performances to be happy with, in particular, young keeper Jones, who continues to shine. Table Spoiler The loss drops us to 8th place. Up next...we travel to 7th place Merthyr.
Punch
DEC 2023 Not a great month as we win only one of our five League games, although we did cause an upset win in the FA Trophy. Our attacking stats are pretty good, although our defensive stats need to improve. After a bad month, we have dropped to 8th place. Stats Goalkeepers After a string of disappointing performances, I dropped Kelly to the bench, and started Jones in the last two games, including his League debut. Kelly's performances while solid, were below par, shown by a massive negative between his save, and expected save percentage. Defenders Harry Tobin is out for 12 months, and Frank Tobin spends most of his time coming off the bench now. Much more minutes for the kids lately. Midfielders Forwards Looking at the stats, it does make me wonder where the goals will come from when Allen retires. A small loss this month. The schedule has settled slightly as the new year begins. Punch
JAN 2024 - Match Day 26 - At Merthyr Town FC Match Report Spoiler A real midfield slug fest at Merthyr Town as neither side could make a meaningful impact on goal. A big game from our young keeper Jones, who was the player of the match. Table Spoiler Despite the draw we still drop a place to 9th. Up next...we host 13th place Beaconsfield. TelcontarTargaryen
You, like myself, seem to have a fond heart and a soft spot for small teams from weird, or better said not-so-common places. Punch
JAN 2024 - Match Day 27 - Vs Beaconsfield Town FC Match Report Spoiler An early lead but we were down by half time as the visitors made us pay for both mistakes, and lack of execution. A half time rev up, and it was a completely different game in the second half as we leveled, and then ran away with the win and the three points. Table Spoiler We gain a place, but a lot of teams have not yet played their 27th game. Up next...we host 18th placed Hendon.
Punch
JAN 2024 - Match Day 28 - Vs Hendon AFC Match Report Spoiler A solid performance as we take the three points at Footes Lane. An early Cameron goal gave us the lead which we held to the break. The visitors leveled after the break, before a Ross Allen special secured the three points. Table Spoiler Back to back wins, and we stay in 8th. Up next...we travel to Dunston for the FA Trophy 4th Round.

Punch
JAN 2024 - FA Trophy 4th Round - At Dunston UTS FC Match Report Spoiler A great performance as we sent out a lot of the class of 23 kids, and they got the job done sending us to the 5th Round. We'd taken the lead back before they had a player sent off late in the piece, and then Docherty completed his brace to complete the scoring. We dominated in the midfield and launched a lot of attacks down the left, where Docherty was running amok. 5th Round Draw Spoiler A monster clash at Footes Lane as we get National North Curzon Ashton in what will be a very tough match. Up next...back to League action as we travel to 20th place Plymouth Parkway.
Punch
JAN 2024 - Match Day 29 - At Plymouth Parkway FC Match Report Spoiler We made hard work of it, but got the job done against lowly Parkway. Docherty came off the bench to secure the win, and the three points. A strange game where we only put two shots on target, they both went in, and it was enough to get the win. Table Spoiler We continue to hold down 8th place. Up next...a tough match up as we travel to 6th place Slough.
Punch
JAN 2024 We start the new year in stunning form, dropping points only to Merthyr in the first game, on the way to three straight League wins, and an FA Trophy win. We both score and concede more goals than we should, but the Analyst is pretty happy with our form at the moment. We sit 8th, but are within striking distance of the play off places. Stats Goalkeeper Youngster Jones continues to shine, no surprise that it coincides with conceding less goals and our turn around in form. Defenders Plenty of youngsters getting minutes. Midfielders Forwards Allen and Canha continue to be the main contributors, but the improvement from Docherty and Easter continues. The concern is a lack of out and out strikers in the youth ranks. Hopefully the next intake might provide some options. A big loss this month as we spend over £20k on 'other'. Can't find any information on what it was. Had a big of a chuckle when I noticed this. The Board love the job I am doing, while the fans have me rated a lot lower, even though they are pleased. That's a pretty major gap. Some tough matches coming up.

Punch
FEB 2024 - Match Day 30 - At Slough Town FC Match Report Spoiler A tighter battle than it appeared, but two second half goals were enough to get the job done at Slough. Another quality performance from our youngsters, and while the game was heavy in midfield, we certainly enjoy getting down the wings as well. Table Spoiler 5 unbeaten and 4 wins on the trot. We swap places with Slough, jumping to 7th, and still within striking distance of the top five. Up next...a monster clash as we travel to 4th place Weston-super-Mare. Punch
FEB 2024 - Match Day 31 - At Weston-super-Mare AFC Match Report Spoiler We made plenty of chances, but couldn't make anything of them as we fall to a much stronger Seagulls outfit. We fought back to draw level, but then conceded again before the break. The second half seen us probably be the better team, but we just couldn't find a way to get the ball in the net, before the hosts scored a late sealer. There was actually plenty to like about the performance, despite the scoreline. Table Spoiler We stay 7th, but a lot of teams around us have a game in hand now. Up next...a must win game as we host last place Harrow.
Punch
FEB 2024 - Match Day 32 - Vs Harrow Borough FC Match Report Spoiler We made tougher work of it than we should have, but we get the job done against the bottom placed Boro. A starting line up that contained all academy players for the first time, played well through the first half, but had nothing to show for their efforts at the break. Two goals in five minutes was enough to secure the points however, and we also kept a clean sheet. A good day at the office. Table Spoiler We gain a place to 6th, but they may not last as the teams around us play their make up games next weekend when we are playing in the FA Trophy. Up next...a huge match at Footes Lane as we host National North Curzon Ashton in the FA Trophy 5th Round.
