Spain need a draw, Japan need to match Costa Rica's result, get a score draw to stay ahead of Germany or just win.

Germany need to win, Costa Rica can get through with a draw should Japan lose to Spain.

Not expecting any surprises tonight. Spain and Germany to win.

Watching the Costa Rica game, in hope of a German meltdown. But they're playing Kimmich at right-back and a proper central midfield pivot, so that's probably not going to happen. :(

Notably, Stéphanie Frappart becomes the first woman to referee a men's World Cup finals match. Her assistants are female too.

Huge gamble innit? I've seen a lot of managers say the downtime between games is a killer being only 3-4 days, but ooof if costa rica get an early goal tonight

It's not even that huge of a downgrade?

Balde starts over Alba for Barcelona, Pau Torres is their second best CB after Laporte and Ferran has been unimpressive.

It's not like he changed the entire lineup.

Doesn't say much for Spain's central defenders that Rodri retains his place while they swap the other centre half.

Eric Garcia was going to be the starter but many (including me) do not trust him.   I guess Luis Enrique also realized.

Tyldesley has called him Iñaki Williams twice now. Can someone tell him Iñaki has been playing for Ghana at this event and not Spain

Probably thinks that Nico Williams is the fella who plays for Wales.

A dog turd on the 18 yard line is more imposing than Eric Garcia to be fair.

Ferran has moved from "squad" to "impact sub" in FC Barcelona recently.  It was a little surprise he started with Spain the first two games.  Pablo Sarabia is a better player, in my opinion.

Costa Rica are awful. Unless there's a bunch of new players coming through, they are a bit lucky that CONCACAF are getting more places for 2026.

Also, how is that not a corner? It was at least a foot over the line. :D

So are Spain on course to meet Brazil in quarters? I can't ever recall them playing eachother at a WC

G winner is probably Brazil, H winner is Portugal.

Without any surprises, we'd get 8 biggest names in quarters.

Seems like the winner of Brazil-Spain should go to the final on that side.
