Is the selection type "Get best local region team" broken or it has some hidden criterias?

I'm working a Japan league file which requires to get teams from the same local region to attend the competition.

It looks like the selection type "Get best local region team" is the most suitable one to use.

But during my testing, I found sometimes it can get more teams while sometimes less ones.

Test 1 with local region "Akita-ken"

18 records found in DB

No other selection critiera except for the local region.

35 records returned.

 

Test 2 with local region "Gunma-ken"

16 records found in the DB.

Again no other selection critiera except for the local region.

Only 8 records returned.

 

If I specify the team type (no matter it is first team, B team, reserve team or U18 team), no record will return.

Does anyone have any idea of it?

Decided to report it as bug.

It might be that it's excluding youth teams, ie. the university and high school teams? It could be excluding B teams too, so it's only picking up 1 of the Thespakusatsu Gunma teams, not both.

If I tick the checkbox "Dont's use reserve/B/Youth teams", the number of records will become less (17 from Akita-ken, 4 from  Gunma-ken) but still does not match with the same number in DB.

For high school I can uderstand, but I don't think editor knows how to exclude university teams.

From my screenhost, you can see the "Is institute" flag is no for them.

You could give them a secondary division with no actual function in the rules other than to tell it to get best teams from that

I will give it a try later when I work on regional leagues.
