We're back at the Al Thumama Stadium, where Senegal lost their opening match and Spain put 7 past Costa Rica.

Qatar

Going by what happened in the opening match, and with the Netherlands coming up in their final game, a win is the only option for Qatar here. They will have to do better than their quite frankly hopeless attempt in the first match. They have DROPPED goalkeeper Saad Al Sheeb.

Senegal

A defeat wouldn't definitely see them gone, but they would be in big big trouble. A draw isn't great either, need to win this.

It's Lineker with Pearce and Dublin commentating. God help us all.

Head to Head

These countries have never faced off before.

Lineker just mentioned that Qatar's new keeper Barsham is the brother of the high-jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim, who won Olympic gold in Tokyo (sharing it with an Italian rival - what a moment that was, by the way).

Jonathan Pearce on comms, so you can absolutely guarantee he will start talking about Qatar/Senegal being eliminated for definite if they go behind. Even though there is still a scenario for the loser here where they could get through with a final day win. If the group finishes 9-3-3-3 that is.

What we can say for certain is that if Qatar lose here, they will be officially the worst host nation of all time.

South Africa in 2010 was the only previous group stage exit by a host, but South Africa managed four points from nine that year.

If Qatar lose this they'll become the first host nation to go out after just two games.

Incidentally I think the defender is an idiot but I dislike it when engineering a pen is rewarded. Just take the shot rather than stopping and moving unnaturally across the defender.

Totally agree. But it is still a pen no matter how much he looked for it. Right through the back.
