Which leagues are you most and least looking forward to getting to?

I don't know if there's anywhere I'm not looking forward to, as I've never really managed outside Europe even as an Australian. But I'm most looking forward to strong nations with weak domestic setups, especially in Europe. I'm not sure which ones they are yet, but things like Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia etc.

Survival on the final day, and what this season has told me is that Elton is legit. His 32 goals in the First Division was enough to get the Golden Boot by a whopping 11 goals. I'm sure Corinthians have enough players to not really miss him, but their loss is our huge gain. Hopefully we can turn other big teams losses into gains for next season as we push for a continental place. Brazil have a whopping 12 places for the Libertadores and Sudamericana, and that's the aim.

We can finally buy players based outside Brazil! We can only get a max of 5 though.

We take advantage of our new scouting range, signing 5 foreigners and a local for the season ahead.

We get off to a perfect start in our preseason cups, which we should be doing because all of these teams are in the Third Division at best.

We've safely progressed to the knockout stages of both cups, and despite playing 22 games already we still haven't started the league.

When we do start the league we'll be doing it with the NXGN winner Elton, whose eligibility was no doubt boosted by him scoring 49 goals in 51 games last season, and 19 in just 12 this season.

We lose the state cup but win the regional cup, and we've gotten off to better than expected start in the league where we sit 7th. There's still plenty of football to play though, and a lot of teams have games in hand to play.

A few cool teams here, like Uzbekistan, Mozambique, Suriname, Venezuela, Jamaica, Thailand, Haiti and Iraq. They unfortunately didn't progress any further, but hey, at least they made it. Haiti got belted 11-1 by Germany though.

Our scouting range has now been upgraded to worldwide, but with only 5 foreign slots available I had to be selective. We didn't really stray too far from South America, picking up two Colombians and three Brazilians, but we also bought someone from Thailand, a first for me. It's a new look backline, one that I hope will hold against the bigger Brazilian teams as we push for the automatic Libertadores spots. We actually qualified for the Libertadores qualifying rounds this season, which begins in February.

I don't know too much about South American clubs outside the main ones, but it looks like we got a pretty good group. Bolivar are the current Bolivian champions, Independiente have won 3 of the last 5 Ecuadorian titles, and Melgar haven't finished in the top 2 in each of the 5 Peruvian seasons in this save. We've avoided Uruguayan, Brazilian, Argentinian and Colombian clubs which I think is a great start. Tell you what though, Groups E, F, G & H are all pretty tough. Imagine having one of the most violent rivalries in football happening in a continental group stages in Boca and River Plate. Exciting stuff.

The tactics have changed to something a bit more Wenger-esque, courtesy of a Wengerball tactic that RDF created and promoted. It took some time for it to settle in, but our last three games have gone well, and I'll be looking to strengthen the side during the July transfer window as well.

Our unbeaten streak extends to over 10 games as we shoot up to 8th in the league. We've been pretty defensively sound as well, highlighted in our win on penalties in the Libertadores against Rosario Central after no goals were scored in 180+ minutes. In the quarter finals we play Libertad of Paraguay, strong for Paraguay but can we handle them?

The goals have dried up and by extension the wins have as well. We're still in a continental spot, but we need to push for that top 7.

It's a showcase of Brazilian continental dominance as all remaining teams hail from there, and 6 of 8 quarter finalists. Curiously enough the other two teams were Paraguayan.

The part I don't get is that we couldn't score for pretty much the entire month, but then we score 5 away against Sao Paulo in the Libertadores semi? I mean I'm thrilled, just confused. Anyway, the first chapter of this save has the potential to be over as we enter the Libertadores final against Flamengo as they overcame a 2-0 deficit against Palmeiras in their semi.

Somewhat prematurely, Brazil is complete!

It's a bit weird to have won the equivalent of the Champions League and then finish so far down the ladder, but it is what it is. I also think my work here was far from done, as the facilities still had upgrades to be made, but let's hope that the next manager can carry it on.

I've changed formations again, this time for the whole save I'd say, as this tactic I found recreates the Invincibles tactic of 03-04 which I want to emulate wherever I go. This is again thanks to RDF Tactics who made a video on this for FM21. I don't think it would play too differently in 23, so it stays unchanged.

That of course means every player attribute rating before this one counts for nothing, so here is the current All-Time Best XI & 2nd XI according to the new formation.

Pretty Brazilian oriented of course, but it will be interesting to see how things change as the save progresses.

Argentina is currently the 5th best nation in the world, and now it's my turn to manage there. But who will I have the honour of managing?

Club Deportivo Maipú were the team predicted to finish the lowest in Argentina's lowest playable division that plays in red and white. There are a whopping 37 teams in the league, and we're predicted 31st.

There may be a small problem though...

081b87d02a0c6e7b2aab307dae3af70f.png

The club is in massive debt, with little to spend on new signings or anything else really. I'll need to salvage the clubs finances by selling a bunch of players who don't fit my tactical setup.

Speaking of, what's our ideal XI looking like?

a5272ea40fe3926dc4ab6108e14a8379.png

It's really not that much worse than what we started with in Brazil. But it's a hugely bloated squad, with 62 players. Plenty will be leaving this window for sure.
