UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Match #7 Bayern Munchen AWAY

CopyofCHERRYREDRECORDSSTADIUM.thumb.jpg.c32db977f00cfef8026a77badc223bd9.jpg

Well, it looks like i kicked the hornets nest in this match, it was all cool and equal until i scored a leading goal, from that moment on there was only one club on the pitch and he was not from England. Deserved win for Bayern.

Here are a few things that were happening behind the curtains in the last couple of month and most recently during the last winter transfer period.

Pepple and Gomez were unhappy in the club and they decided to consider their options, i can understand Pepple who was a squad player and did not see much football, but Gomez was a starter but he decided to ditch CL football and go to Leverkusen, although, Leverkusen is a team that finished 2nd in the Bundesliga last year, im glad he didnt join any PL team.

nezadovoljni.thumb.png.64b0753acfdef365ff66500c40fe6098.png

Most recent transfer out was Benjamin Amoah, my first team striker who has really been playing wonderfully for the last couple of seasons and i was ready to accept a decent offer for him as i have a replacement ready in Nico de Jonge already.

Another player i was forced to sell was Do Marcolino, key player in the midfield who also was considering his options at the end of contract so i transfer listed him immediately as i did not wanted to lose him for free and Fulham came in with a fair offer for him which i gladly accepted.

I have not looked into any replacements as i am already happy how this season is going and i think i will be able to provide CL participation next year with this team and then make a plan for the next season when this one is over.

For the second time in this season Liverpool was beaten, fantastic game from both teams but we were a better team of the night. Jorge Rodriguez scoring two games in a row in the FA Cup.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Round of 16 Leg #1 Bayer Leverkusen AWAY

Spoiler

Another beautiful venue i am visiting in Europe and i would love to share a few photos and info with u.

Die Werkself have been making weekly pilgrimages to the BayArena since 1958, when the stadium first opened its gates as the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion, named after the former chairman of Bayer AG, the pharmaceutical company that founded the Rhineland club.

The stadium's design was based on Bochum's Ruhrstadion, and was built section by section over the years, growing bit by bit alongside the demands of the club.

Back then it held 20,000 spectators, before Bayer added a further 2,500 seats in 1997 and in the process became the first all-seater stadium in Germany. It was renamed the BayArena the following year.

This match started somewhat fortunate, first we scored a penalty and a decision to award it was questionable, and then the next goal came from an assist from my GK. It got even better from there, at the end, POM went to Fiacre Kirkland for a goal and an assist.

And two days after this match press went off on me.

Another crazy match against Leverkusen has been played and this one ended up without the winner, this time POTM went to Nico de Jonge for two goals and an assist in this match. We are through to the quarter finals of the Champions League!

Quarter Finals Leg #1 Liverpool HOME

We have literally held them to a draw, Liverpool has controlled the pace and the possession on most occasions during the match and we were quite fortunate getting away with a draw.

Everything fell a part in this second leg but we can not be dissappointed with this season in the CL. Considering this was Wimbledons first season ever in the CL, to come to the quarter finals is a huge success.

It has been a while since i updated on the league and this is the current situation. We just played 35th match of the season and we got a win and we are currently sitting at 4th place on the table but team bellow us has one match less then us so it is going to be a real struggle to play CL next league too but i would be more then happy with Europa League.

EFL CUP

Final Tottenham

Finally, a trophy. It has been 12 years since we last won a trophy and this year, out of nowhere here it comes. Usually i dont have high hopes for this trophy as the competition is always packed with top teams but everyone gets lucky once.

20230702175023_1.thumb.jpg.787b516f802fd21aca2221800dd229aa.jpg

Tight, tight affair where there was not many chances really but i spend a bigger part of the second half with my head in my hands sitting on the edge of a chair. Only goal was scored by magnificient Nico De Jonge.

So one more season, one more final. Continental competition this time, UEFA Conference league where i havent met the real rival so far actually and this Final encounter is actually the biggest test in the competition, Ajax is expecting us.

Also i gotta mention what kind of season Nico De Jonge is having. 43 goals in 56 matches so far.

FINAL VS Ajax

Another final, another victory, much more convincing this time,

Mighty Nico De Jonge was the double scorer while cherry on the top and man of the match performance comes from the long serving Fiacre Kirkland.

I decided to honor my favorite player in FM 23! It is a newgen that spent 8 years in Man. City and he was practically undiscovered before joined my team. All the personal awards he won after joining glorious AFC Wimbledon. 8 years in Man. City, 33 matches played... more info in the comments.

FiacreKirkland.png.18a14521aee6e7338b2430de3f07edec.png

Fiacre spent 8 years in Manchester City warming up the bench for Erling Haaland and i literally have no idea how he was noticed by scouts at all. Only time when he had a chance to show his talents was in EFL League One when he joined Derby County on a loan and played whole season scoring 12 goals.

He won many trophies with Man. City but only as bystander as he played only 33 matches in 8 years where he was not named even in the team of the weak in that time.

Although a player with no credibility he was no cheap, 39m EUROS for him was the price we payed and ooooh boy did he deliver.

It was our third season in PL when he joined and budget was still shaky but we just sold couple of players that emerged from the academy and i was looking for a player like Drogba, strong, tall, good finisher... and 23 year old Kirkland showed up on the scouts list. With heavy heart i decided to empty the bank and push him into first team, starting as many matches possible as Target Man.

As soon as he joined he started showing his talent, goals, goals and goals, not a great assister but crosses, corners, those were bread and butter, when i linked im up with a good crosser it was like a fairy tale... Kirkland went on 9 season streak where he scored 20+ goals in a season with 31 goals in 46 matches being his best season where he was named UEFA Conference League player of the season and Golden Boot runner up.

Now the year is 2043, Kirkland is 35 years old and just had a broken hip that will sideline him for months, it is time to step a side and let the fresh blood to step up.

Mr Kirkland, thank you for your service, it was quite a ride.
