The board don't offer enough wages for hiring youth staff

Obviously it depends on what league you are playing in and the overall finances of the club- you could try asking for more money for wages but it may have to come off your transfer budget.

I'm in Vanarama North League managing Kidderminister Harriers and I've asked the board to increase wages but they won't do it.. Thanks for your help.

It's the nature of lower league management that your club is potless. In real life, the fortunes of many depend on bagging a 3rd round away FA Cup tie at Old Trafford.

That is pretty typical I would suggest- the only way round it really is to be successful and gain promotion, or maybe hit it lucky with the sale of one of your players to a higher league team

You dont even want youth staff at that level. Your intake will be poor, and even if you get a 5star potential, thats a 5star potential for your current league. By the time he is first team material, you should have been promoted hopefully. Also, your facilities and coaches will be not good enough to maximise his growth.

LLM is all about signing players (usually on a free or loan) who can deliver immediately, not within 5years

so this. having a youth or reserve in lower leagues is just a complete waste of time, resources and money. you dont want players or staff honestly. dont even think about reserves or youth until you are in the prem and all your facilities are near the top.

I put all the youth players I retain in my first team squad. The only way they can improve at that level is by playing first team competitive football.

Realistically, I wouldn’t worry about youth until they get to a league and start playing games rather than friendlies. I get the ideal of waiting until the Prem but that is a FM thing as it’s been fairly easy to get into the express lane and reach the top league with back to back promotions. This trend may not be so obvious this year so youth development should probably start sooner IMO. I would shoot for League two in the OP’s case.

depends on your team and facilities and rep. it is just a long shot in llm especially in england. ive gotten a player who newgenned in vns who made it to the prem and did well. but that was like 1 time since fm19. it is just a whole lot of effort for players who most likely are going to immediately get replaced every time you got promoted.

better off singing youth from the prem that gets released or doesnt make it past youth trials. that literally can carry you basically to the championship. with maybe a handful of expiring contract singings. plus when the youth dont develop you cant even make any money on them.

better off focusing on youth that gets released and expiring contracts so at least you can sell for profit even if small.

then it is the question of all that youth staff. usually they are garbage because you have no rep, most of the llm time. or you have to over pay or them.

Then when you are in the Prem it is easy enough to just sign the big teams trial players before they sign contracts. Better to get world beater newgens then your teams low ranked rep newgens. Poaching youth is the way to go until your top 5 rep with top coaches and top facilities. And by then you probably wont even need them unless you want them
