Nmason10
Is there a reason the game is released so as only to work with Mac OS 11 and above? I've just bought it last night, very excited to play as I'm a long-suffering Nottingham Forest who's elated to see his team finally back in the Premier League after all these years. I buy the game every year, it's my favourite game in the world. I can't even tell you how many months have been lost wrapped up in it. Last years edition worked fine on my mac running OS 10.15.7. But this year, without making clear in any advertising materials, it's only been released for OS 11 and above, which my mac isn't able to be upgraded to, despite it running perfectly fine, great RAM specs and all that... Now I'm used to the b*stards at apple trying this kind of exploitative practise to get you to buy new devices every year, but I think it's a damn shame that I'm now unable to play my favourite game without having to upgrade my whole laptop, something I'm unable to do currently as I'm low paid and we're in the middle of a cost of living crisis. So I ask developers - is there a GENUINE reason (technical malarkey I'm never going to understand) it's only been made available for OS 11 onwards, and if so could it please be explained in idiot-proof terms, or is it possible to be made available for earlier operating systems so long term fans like me can just crack on with getting Forest to win their third European Cup. Administrators Neil Brock Posted November 13, 2022 Administrators Share Posted November 13, 2022 Can assure you it's not in our best interest to make it harder for people to access our game, so we only ever drop support for previous devices and operating systems when it's absolutely necessary. Unfortunately it isn't possible for us to expand our support back to older Mac OS's. If you system does meet minimum specs outside of the OS, you could bootcamp the machine with Windows which could work in theory, but wouldn't be officially supported. Apologies about that. Nmason10
Thank you for the quick response, but can I ask WHY it's unable to be supported when last years game ran perfectly fine?

It's not fair to say its not made clear when the system requirements that are widely available clearly say MacOS 11 or newer.

Really, because I can't see it here: https://www.footballmanager.com/news/football-manager-2023-out-now or here: https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/football-manager-2023-release-date-new-features-price-full-game-devices/blt27fc5ae682e97644 Here it seems to list the system requirements for FM22, despite it being a an article about FM23, which could've been confusing: https://www.footballmanagerblog.org/2022/09/football-manager-2023-system-requirements-fm23.html But, anal retentiveness aside, my point is - it's a game I've been playing for a long time, and all previous versions have worked perfectly fine. I'm clearly not the only person that has made the rather reasonable assumption that it should work fine on my operating system (plenty of people have queried this too on here) but I don't understand WHY this decision has been made and developed in this way, and why it is unable to be made compatible? Do you make a habit of checking system requirements for every game you purchase before buying? Is it unreasonable to expect the game to work on an OS that has been supported for every year previous? If the answer is Yes to either of the above, well... you must be fun at parties
kevhamster
Yes, I do always check system requirements for games before I buy them. I don't want to spend upwards of £40 on a game my rig will struggle with. Call it due diligence.

But they're clearly available on Steam and Epic. And the FM Blog site is not an official SI site. Edited November 13, 2022 by kevhamster

fc.cadoni
You can request a refund if you are not happy about it. End of story.
Huey Lewis
Was also posted on these forums here - https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/567860-football-manager-2023-minimum-specs/ Not sure they're really going to be like "FM23, no longer available for those of you on Macs from 2012 and 2013". Advertisements never include the system requirements. For any game. This isn't specific to advertising for FM. Get ratty with me and other posters all you like but if you chose to buy the game without checking the system requirements that's entirely on you. You should be able to get a refund from Steam though depending on how long ago you made the purchase.

JordanMilly
I'm going to shut this here, given that @Nmason10 isn't interested in further responses. I would also suggest he take a look over the forum rules, as some of his responses have been unnecessarily rude. https://community.sigames.com/forum/34-house-rules-forum-guidelines/
