Fancied a crack at the competition overview panel to make it more stats driven. Here is where I'm up to at the moment:

The arrows next to each area will then open a more detailed list that sits where the league table is. The buttons at the top (there are two currently) will show fixtures and past positions. The space at the top next to the trophy will probably be used for something to do with past winners and more general information.

Any thoughts on this?!

Edit:Thought I'd make the hidden attributes panel, that's, well hidden with a pop out button. Panels since changed to a solid back ground, but this is the happy middle ground I've settle on for hidden attributes that ruin the games immersion for others (if they avoid the button obviously) I'm not good at videos the pictures don't really do this justice.

Thought I'd make the hidden attributes panel hidden with a bit of a gimmick with the smiley face, sad face not the greatest achievement but made me chuckle

 

if it works and you're happy with it :) thats all that matters

have you thought about giving the hidden panel a solid background so it becomes easier to read ?

After posting I noticed and changed to contrast box. I'm more happy as some people want it some don't, its a happy middle. Now I've sussed the buttons / triggers I want to add more but not sure what next

A few new ideas that I've been working on:

1. Player comparison screen:

A bit wild to get the hang of but now I've got them I kind of want to test their boundaries see if I can things to show where they normally wouldn't that and get a few more in there.

All the new panels are a great job, I really like the idea for the affiliate page. I feel it's one part of the game with much more potential than the default version, at least in terms of available - and wasted - space, for example.

I wonder what else could be added there, I think things like the stadium pic or even more information in text would be a wild shot.

The ability to incorporate more information about clubs is exciting and inspiring, triggered me to try something too, thank you very much.

loving this @_Ben_... anyway to change the colour so once a champion has been crowned it goes golden? not sure if you've already done this... thought it might fit into the theme overall?

No problem! There's a few little panels that are like this - likely to make things easier for resolution scaling.

I had an idea about how to get more into the comparison screen as I was stuck with just two comparative IDs that actually worked. So I built it all into one ID:

loving the depth of this... does the table change if you highlight any of the attributes? would you look to keep both or just one?

What table? It’s all in one panel because of the issue with number of working IDs. If you click an area of the pitch, it shows the key attributes, as it does on the homepage.

Still ticking away at making a few changes to the skin even if they won't be released. I decided to add a bit more depth to the match news report and then apply that style to the five recent games, found on the club overview:

Took me longer than I'd like to admit but got a working stats panel, in place for previous 5 games (no silly overlapping thanks @GIMN it just clicked what you said about backgrounds just need to fix the bg colour) just need to see if I can add the goals / assists icons onto the pitch (for that game), a fixtures panel (for me I want to know if I can rest a player). Want to take a whack at getting a head to head / previous results on but it seems to conflict with the team1vteam2 part of next match info.

i really like this... was wondering if you'd be able to make use of the dead space next to POTM and incidents? maybe an overview of match ratings for both teams?

I've found it very tough to pull through things that fit into the 'match' panels. The right hand side is all 'data_hub' stuff so I've got to try and find a route through to do this. I am still on it though.

Just made some small visual changes to the player profile area with old (left) to new (right):

There is the issue that the background is always the same on the player search screen, regardless of who the player plays for, so I removed that. I also added the flag at the top as it's something that is used elsewhere, too.

Spot on , looks really nice. I really struggled to get the badge in behind the player pic. 

Thank you for posting that widget code for the nationality, it comes in very handy especially when managing in countries that have a limit of non homegrown players like Norway for instance.

again redid the youth development team tactics inbox panel so that the appearance does not depend on the number of rules

also noticed the strange brackets after the team name. again the programmers broke some inconspicuous functionality :D

Tho the cut off GK and the overlap of feet in the jersey gets to me, but i see the improvements which is good

The brackets should be raised as a possible bug.

Horizontal padding might fix it I fixed my player position chart using vertical padding (mines vertical)

yes, GK need little tweak

"overlap of feet" this is not a bug, but a feature of the design. in theory I could place them vertically, but I'm saving that space for some other indicator. and I don't want to make them microscopically small.

It makes sense.

I have these as feet on my tactic screen

But we all have different taste and i see what you mean.

This is not a 'look at my finished article' post but a 'look at what can be done' post, Team Squad edition:

I wanted to get some stats on the page so that I can get a better overview of other teams when I look at them. Here is my own team.

This is great Ben! How do you get the data hub widgets to pull through? Especially for other teams that aren't your own. Not something I've messed around with before but I'm interested.

I was just a bit bored and playing around with the stats that I think @Tyburn first did, making another area at the bottom of the screen to show some team stuff. I know @GIMN tried to split the panels for a player comparison but it failed - so I was just messing around with other things. I then settled on using that container (obv with a new name and ID) to see if I could fill it with things. Tactics/league tables etc did not work but, given the name of the Statman skin, I felt like I could try and pull some stuff through from the data hub, as that seems the easiest to manipulate.

I've also created a new view that makes the rows a bit bigger as I feel that goes with the 'look' I've created. Switching to any other view will take you back to the normal sized rows. I've now got two options to play with now it's been cleaned up:

I don't want to show 'too much' as it's the job of the scouts and the analysts to get this kind of data but I'm thinking of the latter one here: a rough idea of performance as well as attacking and defensive work - not groundbreaking as you can see that from xG stuff anyway, but a little more than you'd see before. Here, for example, is a team in a playable league and I can get a good bit of info about them before the scouting mission:

The idea is good, but it does require a certain size of screen, else it will imo take up way too much screenspace.

and if we have to go deeper, there can be too much "random" data put into a screen where it's not needed

This is ofc my humble opinion and should not be taken as a overall opinion.

Absolutely. A good point. At 125% zoom (the equivalent to some low res screens), it's very different...

Because my sizing is not absolute for the widgets, it means that the data is just 'lost.' Certainly one to think about as a 'mod' for those who play on higher resolutions or, as it is right now, for me to use.

I 100% agree with @snowofman about the size/resolution etc. I know I would not be able to fit it into my 1920x1080 resolutions with 100% zoom and I can see already the comments about why it looks different (:D) if you would make it available to download. But the idea itself is perfect and I'm sure it can be very useful.

It fits on 1920x1080 with 100% zoom, but not ideally:

Let's try it, for sure :) From my experience, I'm sure I would not use it if it would be something like a popup because it's another "click" and I feel I can open the data hub at the same time with this "click". So, for me, I would make it permanent on the right side by limiting the info in the squad view to ensure the right-sided polygons/data fields will have enough width. I would rather customise the squad view than to making another popup but that's me.

1 year ago I was home sick for two weeks due to covid.
I decided I had some time to try and learn skinning but my ambition to replicate FM06 turned out, in the end, to be too hard for me.
I spent an entire week copying and adapting the original graphics, so every icon, star, flag, font, box, button etc. is the original graphics from 2006.
Note, I played with the 2006 Metallic skin back then, can't remember if that was the default or an alternative.

In the end I realised that using original custom buttons and graphics was too complicated for me, it just looked strange in a lot of menus and windows.
After a while I started again for FM23 but I just feel i don't have the time nor the skill to ever finish it. 
Some screens and buttons are hard coded and it gets really frustrating when you hit a wall :seagull:

FM23 Squad View, this is where I am right now
I would like to remove the shadow on the sidebar but then the standard tables(where the playes are listed in this screen) doesn't look as good.
Some things I haven't figured out in this picture:
The tab bar buttons have the wrong colour, I can't find which one or where to edit.
The status buttons have the wrong font but I haven't yet checked all the files from 22, where it works as it should.
@Loda, when I compare to your skin, I realise I have the wrong tab bar image, strange since I have the right one in the main menu.
I suspect I had trouble moving the items on the tab bar :confused:
I also made som changes to the star ratings, the stars are the stars from 2006 but it was not displayed in the same way in 06.
I removed and/or combined the half stars and unknown stars so now it's more vague

When I think of FM2006, I think of the font, the colours, my Cardiff team and the original facepack, I can still see the pictures of the players in my head.
I particularly liked a facepack for Southampton(I think it was downloaded), where Walcott played, that looked like this:

So, as a bonus, I can show one more thing that took me MONTHS to complete.
I used the cut-out megapack and inserted the same background and border for all 400k+ pictures.
So here he is, 17 years later...

What an effort, amazing!

I feel your pain, I've tried on numerous occasions to build a retro skin on modern FM's and I appreciate how hard it is.

The fact you did this much on a version of FM some 17 years later is amazing.. also don't be afraid to release. We're not talking about modern day panel/graphic rip offs. We're talking about an official generation at once upon a time.

And...why not then compare the players with a little teaser on the main profile, with the 'full fat comparison' at the top with a linked button.

In true 'me' style, you can only initiate this comparison with a player that you own (i.e. not on the AI player profile) but you can then compare with anyone you have recently viewed or in your team.

I think that this concludes the comparison obsession for today!

In true 'me' style, you can only initiate this comparison with a player that you own (i.e. not on the AI player profile) but you can then compare with anyone you have recently viewed or in your team.

I think that this concludes the comparison obsession for today!

 

at this rate... you're going to run out of ideas... loving the idea... may seem a stupid question but can you customise the parameters of the comparisons to be viewed on the player profile screen?

this looks amazing as always don't wanna wanna be demanding like some other fools who ruin the experience that u guys bring with these improvements of the skins of the game are u looking to release this for public download?

I doubt it! My skin has gone from this to this in just the space of the FM23 release. There'll always be things to do and re- make.

In terms of the customisation of the comparisons - what do you mean by that? Right now, it's set up to be somewhat of an overview that would lead you into the more details panel but I'm happy to explore suggestions!

I'm undecided, to be honest. Having no expectation to release things has given me a new lease of life to make the QOL improvements but, with FM25 bringing a completely new design, I do feel that I want to do something before I am kind of forced to start again. I'll see whether I release again in FM23 or then decide to release in FM24.
