funny thing is, my nee HOYD is a perfectionist but he’s obviously the first one who forgot to email the new intake preview. Hope there will be one …

Uruguay - Villa Teresa

Division 2 - Season 8 (2030)

Season Summary

well...... halfway through the season I realised that in my 8th season I was actually worse off than I was in the first. Worse players, worse results, less money and only one minor improvement.

We started well enough, 3 wins, a draw and 2 defeats in the Torneo Competencia, which is ok. And then in the league proper, we won the first match, which again is not too shabby. And then we lost. and lost. and lost again. and kept losing. It was a battle trying to stop a tidal wave of poor morale, and very little we could do could stop it.

Bizarrely, we won the last two league games! but to no avail....

luckily Uruguay is weird and relegations are decided on the average of the past two seasons, so even though we were abysmal we wouldn't have gone down.

Next season could be a different matter though

Youth

A nice intake! I need some of these to come good and come good quickly!

Career

This will be my last save before the new game so I'm just gonna keep plugging away. It's a tough challenge, this one!

Start Post | Season 1 |Season 2 | Season 3 | Season 4 | Season 5 | Season 6 |Season 7 | Season 8 | Season 9 | Season 10 |Season 11 |Season 12 |

League Performance:

League is becoming pretty straightforward. Gave up some draws during the congested part of the season, but still 10 points ahead of 2nd best.

Cup Performance:

Played like crap away at BDFSP with a few key players out injured and are out in the Semifinal of the cup... I'm hoping once we finally go professional we can gain consistency in the cup.

Reserve & U18s:

Won both again by wide margins.

Squad:

Remembered to screenshot the team this time and also included the CA spreadsheet. Really aren't getting any player development right now as we are semi-pro.

Nothing, we are hoarding everything right now to go professional. Currently we have ~300k profit per season, hopefully NACL this year will help improve on that for this year at least.

Top 3 Players:

The Preview hinted we'd get a good striker this year, and for once it wasn't a lie. He's even got a perfectionist personality to go with a great spread of attributes and a massive 6'4" frame. Even wilder he's straight up American - no Barbados 2nd nationality. Literally our first foreign newgen ever.

image.png.adcc79fafedb247d1b8f79bc2f6eebd9.png

We add to our WB-R depth with Adrian Headley, who I like well enough especially with that speed and movement.

image.png.606e30c3dcb3d68e81f0c7f1c591a3af.png

And now we have our 2 GKs: Darcio Morris & Ramon Howell. Decided to show them in comparison. Really wish we were professional so I could loan these guys out. They will become the entirety of my GK depth now and hopefully in 2 years we will go professional and they can get first team experience to develop. I'm happy enough with my current GK so there's no rush.

image.thumb.png.ff50f43a946ab26e82a0393d66b1605f.png

Poached Player:

Even with minimal knowledge of him, that valuation shows he could be something special, though I hope they retrain him from CB. 7 jumping reach at 5’11” doesn’t spell success in that position, but apparently Arsenal decided to give him 2 appearances already for whatever reason.

image.thumb.png.1a1173fbcd9ff0973e945f87c955d7c7.png

There’s no way he will stick with Barbados, but will be nice to see him at least get one CAP for his home nation.

image.png.3450ad1c0d19fddcb9a4e06346cf8757.png

The clause already has a 500k buyout value, which I might actually consider next year if it rises closer to 1M as that will ensure the club goes professional.

image.png.782d130a909256d97199a2eaa105b532.png

Barbados National Team:

Barbados finished 2034 well winning their Division C group to get promoted back to Division B in the Nation League. Unfortunately, that success didn't continue as they lost in Extra-time in the Gold Cup Playoff to Suriname, meaning they still have yet to qualify for a major tournament this save. Rest of this year will be Nations League matches in a tough group that hopefully doesn't see Barbados relegated again.

Summary

Yet again the Cup proves elusive, and the grind continues towards professionalism. Really next year with the NACL money + Selling the Arsenal Clause I should be able to build up enough bank balance to convince the board to go professional for the following season. We've got the young talent right now who seriously could use full time training to actually improve.

So the year is 2030 and we are a mid-table team that sometimes plays in Europa Conference League thanks to a weird quirk in the Romanian league rules. But that is kinda all. Relegation is on the cards only if I somehow get a particularly terrible season, every year one of the best players either leaves or complains about wanting to leave, all the good stuff.

In a way I've hit the grand grind and I am actually looking for it. And the question in this case is: are there any tips and tricks I am missing, other than waiting for the stars to finally align?

Season Review 2041

Här gör "Henke" Larsson comeback

Table | Transfers | Finance | Facilities | Youth Intake

A poor season overall, we chase top 2 for a while but as many other years our second half is bad and we dont even end up close. A bad intake also suprisingly, i had hoped we would reach promotion this season but now i don't know how many seasons it will take as it is harder to keep our players in this division. And our finances are going into the big red because of this also. Only positive is that we keep getting good increases in attendence. We also loose our star prospect keeper Engström as he woulndt sign a part time contract Lens came and snatched him for free. We have a big chance of getting quite good money thou if he moves as he looks like a top prospect overall.

Top Scorer: (10-B)Olle Edvardsson 19 Goals | 30(0) Games

Most Assists: (14-B)Nicklas Löfvenmark | 15 Assists | 30(0) Games

Season Review 2042

Här gör "Henke" Larsson comeback

Table | Transfers | Finance | Facilities | Youth Intake

Even though last intake were bad a lot of our prospects form earlier intakes took big steps during the season and it really showed in the results! This year we were dominating beating records and looked like a champion from start to finish. We now get another try at tier 2 and i hope we are better prepared this time! Our finances are bad so i hope to stay there for a while and that the board doesnt sell everyone. The intake i forgot to take a picture of but it was quite good Gustav Svensson looks like hte heir to Tobias Jonsson who is getting old.

Top Scorer: (18-G)Kenny Hellström | 23 Goals | 25(3) Games

Most Assists: (14-B)Nicklas Löfvenmark | 20 Assists | 30(1) Games

I'm paying him 1.2k p/w and the next highest player is on 400 p/w, but he's easily worth the money and honestly could be our Striker for this save.

4 Caribbean teams qualified for the Group Stage of the World Cup Qualifiers. Only 1 game in so far (April 2037) and its not looking too great. I'd say there is little chance Cuba or Trinidad will qualify for the World Cup. I could see Jamaica or Curacao having a chance to take 2nd from Honduras.

Summary

Losing the cup so early was aggravating, but everything else about the season was perfect. Over the summer I negotiated everyone onto Full Time contracts and have begun upgrading coaches and other backroom staff to match our professional status. I'm at exactly the same stage with my Uruguay save and honestly, after three years of playing this save, I have no idea other than waiting for the stars to align.

I know improving my facilities would mean better intakes which would mean better players coming through, but I'm losing so much money each year it's impossible.

frustrating isn't it!

I would have done exactly the same. I've been in that position and then the parent club inexplicably releases the player for nothing, or they never sell them. It gave you such a boost in facilities I'd argue that 1m now is worth far more than, say, £10m a few years down the line

I'm kinda jealous by how well your save is progressing at the minute!

I thought we would be quite prepared after last years record season. But our board felt that selling our best CD that where developing like crazy for like 100 euros would solve our 1 million euro debt and then selling his replacement for 600 euros as well as our second best striker for 2.2k euros instead of aiming to stay in the divisios which would clear our debt. It became a awful season from start to finish. Until last 3 games we had a chance of relegation playoffs but we where to bad in general to deserve to stay up. But on the positive we get an amazing intake! Hopefully we can keep hold on most of them to be able to make our trip back down shorter this time.

Sounds like a great adventure. All those mishappenings and twists are great stories.

Yeah, it is really the finances that screw us up. We get to good players overall to stay in division 1 for to long but as soon as we manage to go up a lot of interest comes in and the board sells them for breadcrumbs. Will need to get 2+ seasons in second tier to stabalise the finances i think. Then we can start aiming for tier 1

Finances are key, for sure. Now that they are set and stable everything is much more easier. Took me 15 virtual years to learn that lesson.

Season Review 2044

Här gör "Henke" Larsson comeback

Table | Transfers | Finance | Facilities | Youth Intake

We had a really bad first half of the season where we almost look more downwards then upwards so i kind of already gave up on the season. But then out of nowhere we hit superform winning game after game! we could not catch up to first thou but we claimed 2nd and went into playoffs against Degerfors where we drew 2-2 at home but then we got beaten 0-3 away. If we just hit that form a bit earlier we would have been promoted. Instead we will spend another year losing money which might hurt us long term. The intake where reallt good thou, with Niklas Lundberg going straight into that AMC role and our last intake people are really starting to peform for us already so the future looks bright. We lost last years best prospect thou as Mansour left on a free to Bochum as he never wanted to even talk about a contract with us. Next year we need that promotion and a good intake again!

Top Scorer: (18-G)Kenny Hellström | 32 Goals | 30(1) Games

Most Assists: (21-F)Tom Karlin | 11 Assists | 23(3) Games

Best Average: (18-G)Kenny Hellström | 7.69 Average | 30(1) Games

Top Prospect: (21-B)William Agardius-Hörberg | 0 Goals | 2 Assists | 25(2) Games | 7.16 Average

Best Intake Prospect:  (22-A)Niklas Lundberg

I would have done exactly the same. I've been in that position and then the parent club inexplicably releases the player for nothing, or they never sell them. It gave you such a boost in facilities I'd argue that 1m now is worth far more than, say, £10m a few years down the line

I'm kinda jealous by how well your save is progressing at the minute!

Thanks! Yeah going professional is so huge it's well worth any lost potential future profit. Till the last 2 seasons we've had fantastic players for the level of club, just hope I can turn around these disaster intakes. I had a similar problem in St Vincent last year when my original HOYD got old and replaced I could never replicate the quality of players. Really hoping that doesn't happen again...

"The old logo won't work anymore. We did not bad this year but failed to win against the bigger ones." Earl of Grey

Season 23 - 46/47

We're improving but still we are in the VNS. So nothing important to say here.

We got many upgrades as finances are really good now. Training facilities are average now which means players are developing. Now we're working towards professional status. If we need to do all that in VNS because the Earl isn't competent enough to build a promotion formation than that's okay. My Model Citizens won't do any coaching badges except one. Maybe some coaches won't do any courses. Anybody experienced something like that?

Highlight: Samet Kaya missed the "top scorer" trophy by one goal (34).

Uruguay - Villa Teresa

2031 - Division 2

Season Summary

So, another disastrous season. We were terrible, finished 13th (out of 14) and had to rely on winning the relegation play-off to survive. To be this far into the save and this bad still is kinda upsetting but.....

31combinedtable.JPG.9d5b2877c0b27bc5fce61a041398b8c2.JPG

Youth

Only reason I'm carrying on is my newly upgraded HoYD gave me a ridiculous intake. All my top valued players now are from this intake! 10 elite talents i think?

Finances and upgrades

so, no money, no upgrades and what do the board announce?

there's not many of us left at this stage!

Not sure with that new intake, they all look promising but it's difficult to tell as personality seems to make such a big difference at this level. I'll still be amazed if I'm still in  a job in 2 seasons though

Yeah only my professional players and higher determination ones seem to develop plus those one or two exceptions.
I‘ll follow your postings and keep my fingers crossed

Can you reload for better new gens or are you only allowed to use your first intake each season?

I mean, undoubtedly there are people who do, because there is no way to prevent people from doing it or check the legitimacy of their intakes.

That said, it's very much against the spirit of the challenge, imo. Getting no good full-backs for eight years and having to repurpose some DMs into IWBs is part of the whole experience.

I did reload in the beginning (Truro CIty - didn't know it was against the spirit and rules of the challenge) and I started a new save in consequence. It's so much more fun without reloading not even once.

League Performance:

 image.png.54cde4ce416a66af2eef9ce3ae625628.png

Cup Performance:

I don’t get it how do these teams magically turn up for cups… I rested all my starters before this game so they were fresh and all their players were tired. Wasn’t even that aggressive just our normal lineup on balanced and they scored 2 goals on 2 shots with under 1 xG in the first half. I pushed a little harder after halftime and their 3rd shot is a goal, with still under 1 xG. After that I just went all offense, but everything fell flat and they got the 4th goal and over half their xG. Ended up with just 4 shots on target and 4 goals. I was so mad I just simed the rest of the season (as we had won the league already)

North American Champions League:

Draw is reasonable, so will look forward to these games over the summer to hopefully take the bad taste of the cup out of our mouth.

image.png.fd68c6d0644c6202932446e2d7672842.png

Matches:

#1: Away at Entincelle: Very easy 4-0 victory for us, they didn't even manage a shot on target.

#2: Home vs Road View (Jamaica): Much tougher opponent (hardest in our group). I switched to our more defensive wingbacks and had them less aggressive which yielded a pretty dry first half. Second half, pushing them forward more opened up the game and we got a goal over the top to Carrillo in the 59'. We then punish them for pushing forward with another ball over the top to Carillo in the 65' for his brace. 69' they bring one back on us, and unfortunately in the 81' they push forward and find their equalizer.

#3: Away vs Defense Force (Trinidad): The 2nd best team in the group, and this one is away. We will need a win to keep our hope of advancing alive. 16' they burn us hard down the center and get an early lead. Second half we hit the post 3 times on clear chances for our strikers. But finally, 72' we get the equalizer. Then the Route-One ball from GK to Carrillo gets us ahead in the 78! Ugly but effective to keep our NACL dream alive.

#4: Home vs Bayamon (Puerto Rico): My players are coming off fantastic international performances and this is a weak squad [due to issues with the Puerto Rican League], so it was no surprised we dominated and won 3-0. Unfortunately, we didn't score enough and Humble lion will Advance on GD.

Shane Hoyte: This high flair playmaker actually could be decent and is perfectly timed for the releasing of the old and slow Burke. Fairly Sporting is at least a neutral personality.

Barbados National Team:

2037: Team is playing all friendlies since they got dropped from WCQ & Gold Cup. Nothing really to say.

2038: Nations League, and Barbados actually pulled off some great performances to stay in Nations League B even with a relatively tough group due to Bonaire being absolutely demolished by everyone.

Summary

At least I'll get one summer of NACL to enjoy before another drought due to cup fiascos. I am glad the Academy turned around after some scary down years even if the personalities are horrible. I can only sign people to about 2 year contracts so hopefully I can keep everyone happy to hold them at the club. I could see a breakdown in a couple seasons if we can't start securing the cup. I really didn't expect to have this kind of trouble with the cup matches.

well, I messed up while watching the champions league games and simed over the NACL registration date (as its a random thursday in mid August). There is a glitch in this database that the game doesn't recognize it needs to register anyone so my whole squad is unregistered :onmehead: . Naturally this is the one year I didn't save after the Youth intake so guess I'll just punt on this NACL which is frustrating, but I don't want to re-roll the intake.

EDIT: Guess there's no registration? My whole team is available for selection so never mind registering players. Rollercoaster in the Caribbean lol

Player Profiles

Christian CarrilloI know this is a minor-league nation, but the fact that we've gotten a Pressing forward over 100 CA is a big achievement with just Basic facilities. Granted, he wants to leave and go play in the MLS so we only will have him for 2 more season, but Carrillo is a solid Pressing Forward and single-handedly carries our team in continental matches. Going to miss him when he's gone. He is physically dominant in our league and just powers through defenders at every turn.

Adrian Headley & Zidkigah Mars: My two wingbacks aren't particularly great in my eyes but do a well enough job on our flanks. It helps we play through the middle primarily so weak crossing is acceptable for my wingbacks.

Curtis Croney ; Barry Hoyte ;Rashad Downey: These are my 3 BWM type players to provide the muscle as the CM-L and CM-R positions for the club. You'll notice they all also play WB so provide defensive cover there

Hadan Joseph: Our playmaker. He has trash physicals, but mentally he's a pretty good playmaker. It also helps he has good PK attributes (14) and hasn't missed too many as our dedicated taker.

Darico Morris: Our up and coming GK who is improving well and still has potential left.

Clive Jones ; Gregory Neblett ; Randolph Morris - These are our Poachers / Advanced Forwards. Jones came in last intake (and I haven't added his face yet) and has surprised me by not only actually developing with 3 Det & Unambitious, but also scoring goals with 11 in 11 apperances.

Youth Intake:

What an odd intake. 3* level of intake is awful, but we got a Star Goalkeeper who is Fairly Professional and good enough to start for us if I want him to. The real issue I have with the intake is personalities. It is absolutely atrocious with 1 casual, 1 Low det, 7 Unambitious and 5 Balanced. With only my new GK and one other player having any positive personality.

Top 3 Players:

Sheran Cumberbatch: The literal only downside to him is he's Inconsistent. Everything else about this guy is awesome. 6'5" GK with Handling & Reflexes. Jackpot! I'm glad of the two GKs he doesn't have USA 2nd nationality as this means he will hopefully really help the Barbadian national side.

image.png.2b91086ab685e2cf02d0dd1fb16db02c.png

Shane Lloyd: Game sees him as having the better Current Ability. Unfortunately, I don't use wingers and with 1 Marking and 4 Tckling he can't play WB properly.

image.png.ad989aaa38f2ba8d5584cd8e3f4b8130.png

Tajio Broome: Tool says he has 50 CA-wf. I don't see it.

image.png.c310c4daedbdd8ecdd588a80e3c40282.png

Carl Warner: Tool says he also has 50 CA-wf. Unfortunately he is casual with 1 Det so what could have been a possible depth Poacher will probably be tossed after a few years.

Hey @WhiteCat33I usually keep an eye on this thread throughout the year but this time I just haven't got round to it. I've just seen your Excel charts and while there is a lot going on in there and I'm sure there is stuff I've missed at 1st glance..... they're absolutely brilliant. Well done. :applause:

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on why you think you've had so many (Unamb) players through the Academy (25.5%)? I used to be of the opinion that there was a Nationality/Nation slant/impact/influence on personalities, but that was in a much older version of the game and now I'm much less sure.

Do you mind if I ask what you did with Brad Jones the (L.Det)+(Unamb) poacher from a previous intake? Did you just bin him off or are you playing him in the hope that he will develop because of game time and you can hopefully do something with his hidden attributes?
