Simon Middleton YP4a who I decided would start as first choice left winger this season has been ruled out for 10 months half way through the season. For a 16 year old he’d been doing well with 3 goals and 9 assists in 24 games.

While we did end up in a relegation battle, we had good end of season form that saw us comfortably midish table. The suspensions were hilarious when it made me play my backup GK in random positions on the field, but I was able to play the season without using any Grey players!

Youth Intake: Not pretty. Granted my AssMan isn't any good, but still its pretty dismal when your highest rated player is 2 Silver stars

Lots of mixed nationalities which is cool. Highlight is an Egyptian striker who can finish (but is molases slow), Fickle RM who will be my RWB and a random Indian Player who actually has Resolute personality and will be my LWB (even though he's a RB).

Everyone goes onto non-contracts when they turn 17 but for now they are bleeding me dry with all their 30-50 p/w youth contracts. curious how many I actually lose as I've added lots of players into the databse so you would think the teams around me would go for better options than my youngsters.

I'm going to continue my Berchem save from the beta but the red figures are a big big issue.. i'm hoping for a good takeover.

Well that...was pretty crap. After my confidence in us being an established mid table side, it took until the final game of the season to secure a top half finish, and then we were crap some more after that. We just can't score goals, despite having a really impressive striker in Dorde Petrovic 31-1. He did manage 20 goals in all competitions, but too many times we were shut out, either drawing games we should have won, or losing games we should have drawn. I've gone back to the drawing board with the tactics to try and get more support in the final third, so hopefully next season will see us start to turn things around.

Europe was...actually pretty good! We managed one of the best comebacks I have ever managed in a CM or FM game, turning around a 2-0 deficit against Legia Warsaw en route to making the Conference League proper! There, we didn't do too much and bowed out at the (massive) group stage, but we did manage this result along the way! We did make a few quid from our European adventure, but most funds came from the sale of one player. Goalkeeper Goran Dimitrijevic 30-1 was the subject of a number of transfer bids, and I knew the inevitable board sale was incoming. So I decided to go back to Manchester City with a mad negotiation - worth up to £6m after they had originally offered a million. They went for it! I was sad to see our starting keeper go, but those kinds of funds could go a long way! At least, they could if the board would let me ask for another youth upgrade (it's been the best part of a season now without the option coming up...please don't be another bug).

So Goran has left us. Here's a look at our other notable departures:

Nikola Cakic 26-1 is still at Leipzig, and still worth an absolute fortune. He made 25 league appearances this season, so it looks like he's finally earned a starting spot.
Igor Pavlovic 27-1 remains at Porto, and finally made his first team debut for them. 2 appearances in total for the firsts, with 30 more for the B team.
Kenan Bozic 24-1 is still with Bielefeld. He managed his best season since leaving us, bagging 10 goals.
Milos Stojanovic 29-1 has made 9 appearances for Milan, although he hasn't done much yet.

Not much to report on Dimitrijevic yet, although he has made 5 appearances for Man City which is pretty impressive for a 19 year old!

On to the youth graduates, and after a 5 star preview (it's barely worth even hyping that up at this point!), the class was pretty underwhelming with one exception, and he heads the list:

Aleksandar Sladojevic 33-1

Yeah he's yet another winger, and he needs some work to learn the position, but he's got some freakish physicals and impressive technicals already.

Sreten Muharemovic 33-2

I don't know what my Head of Youth Development is up to, but he seems to love a team full of wingers and strikers. Here's the latest from that production line.

Aleksandar Marinkovic 33-3

Someone who knows how to play a position in our own half! Long way to go, you've heard this one before.

Milan Milojevic 33-4

I'm not sure about the elite talent here, seems like he has a loooooong way to go. Let's see what our coaches can do with him.

Off the field, we did manage to get our training facilities upgraded once, and then followed that up with another successful board meeting to get them upgraded again with some of the Dimitrijevic funds. They'll be done before next season, and will get us to 'Good' facilities for both youth and training. No idea why I can't ask to get the youth facilities upgraded again - not sure if anyone can shed any light on that?!

Honestly some of the potential bugs are starting to stack up in this save, and making me wonder if I should continue. Not being able to trigger club options is absolutely massive - everyone in here knows how important it is to keep hold of talent for as long as possible when you can't bring new players in! If that is combined with no option to upgrade youth facilities any further, I may have to cut my losses. I'd be gutted to leave Zemun behind, but I would fire up another save and stick around here! I'll see how it goes over the next season.

Well @Makoto Nakamura seems I'm diving down a little deeper when I return to Luxembourg

First game of the season our Best striker tore his cruciate ligament and was out for a full year in the first pre-season friendly again 

 then we lost our second striker to poaching as he wouldn't accept our non-contract offer. That and a couple other rotation players left us thin on talent. Let's just say those 16 year olds couldn't cut muster.

Back to England I go!

So somebody up there really does not fancy me as my hard drive decided to die and I cannot really recoup my Nitra save. So time to (re)start again. They say 3rd time lucky. For this attempt of not being bad at the game I shall pick a team somewhat closer to me as in I was born less than 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) air distance from their stadium (or 34km/21 miles on road). Also I shall be using the editor to change the name as the team got a different name starting with 2016 which is not reflected in the game and I shall provide evidence that is the only thing I am doing. @darren1983 time to bother you again: am I eligible for the challenge? I will do it regardless of eligibility but it would be nice to have my name (and the teams one too) on the list.

Never in all my seasons have I had a run like this.....

We were not having a good season anyway, but we went and lost all of our last 7 league games.  Last game of the season we lost 0-2 away at an already relegated side.  The team below us in the relegation playoff spot beat already champions away to leap frog us...

Relegation Playoffs, we take a lead (undeserved) and then got hammered at home but only lost 1-2.  2nd leg, we inexplicably turned up for work for the first time in 2 months!  Survived, but what a complete lost season that was.  Write up will have to be tomorrow night, as I cannot revisit that again right now!

it's a new bug/feature they introduced last season. It's to do with a hidden attribute of your chairman to do with their attitude to youth. all you can do is either change his rating in the editor or hope and pray for a takeover with a more youth friendly chairperson.

it was a huge game-breaking feature/bug for a lot of us last year, it's really frustrating.

Season Summary

Another amazing season from us and one that would have won us the title in either group A or B again, but for some reason we were stuck with Avellino who ran away with it. We did better in the play-offs as well making the final where we narrowly lost to Modena 3-2. 

Players

the best two players were again de Luca up front and giovinco on the left wing. But they are now 33 and 34 respectively so I don't think I can rely on them for too much longer. I do have some really promising youth coming through though - one of the benefits of having excellent training facilities at this level - but they're nowhere near the level of these two just yet.

Youth

Only two elite talents is a little disappointing after improving youth recruitment two levels. But also de Luca and Giovinco are both so good they totally skew the ratings. In any other Serie C side I'd probably have 12 elite talents! 3 star CA is rated as a good serie C player by my coaches so I shouldn't be too disappointed really.

also, i got my first poached player!

Finances

Good, breaking about even. Not because of attendances, which are miniscule, but because for some reason we get almost 3m a year in sponsorship money.

My youth facilities are good but rather worryingly i have not yet seen the option to ask for them to be improved.

Thanks for the reply @libbyshuss, much appreciated. That's a real shame, but I guess it becomes part of the challenge!

I am going to start fresh just to ensure I can add club options. Busy one with work today but I'm sure I can fit some planning time in!

This is the fourth player I lost to Ulot…I have all their names in a note with a reminder set every year; I am curious how they will develop.

 

But the HoyD is still optimistic about the intake:

 

League table half way:

We started the season playing very well. We dominated every game and should have won the first 6, but we drew 3 games and I still can’t believe it. After that we were around a mid table position. I let some older players go, to let the new players get as much playing time as possible. I tried subbing them in after 60-70 minutes to close out games, but we ended up giving up goals due to mistakes and bad build up play. We have a determined and professional bunch so thank god morale is still very good. The last three games before the winter break, we had some bad opponents. We won all three games with very much rotated squads. With our playing style a lower quality player in peak condition performs better than a better but fatigued  player. The league table flatters us. One loss and we could be back in 12th. We need a bit more maturity from our youngsters to finish off the games better to challenge for the playoffs. We are in a good place to stay away from relegation for the next seasons.  

 

Big upset in the Copa:

The first game in the Copa del Rey is the last game before Christmas. We had a tough draw, because Rayo Vallecano is a La Liga side. The AI managers tend to be terrible at managing fatigue with their players, so I smelled an opportunity. The last few games I had rotated 7 players in and out my line up. I decided to start all the fit, sharp lower quality players. I tweaked my tactic so we would have bags of possession and tire Rayo out and have my starters fresh for the last part of the game. The fatigue trick worked like a charm, but the possession trick didn’t. As you can see it was a very open game with 20+ shots for both teams. We had more possession, better xG, more shots on target than Rayo. We did not steal the win, we deserved it. The next round after the winter break we have a La Liga 2 side. They are bottom of the league. so perhaps we can cause another upset.  

Finances; Barcelona worthy….

I hope the board will do some cash injections now and then. With the current squad we will be able to realize the board's vision and not get relegated. Improving the squad will depend on having a lot of decent players to have a fit lineup every game. Star players would be a stroke of luck, but that’s not to be expected with our current level of facilities. We won’t be upgrading for a while...

This challenge really perked my interest for FM this year and is something I've never tried before!  Therefore I've decided to make the Youth Academy Challenge my main save on YouTube this year.

This could be one of the best challenges I've seen in my long years of playing FM and I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into it - hopefully it doesn't end dramatically early!

Season 30/31 (8th) - Süper Lig

Transfers / Players

We did it! Champions of Turkiye! And we really ware the best team this season. 8 points above Gala! Only 21 goals conceded and only 3 losses. Great year. We improved training facilities and we got into champions league so we end up the season with 17mln positive. We did lose UMUT who got sold to Arsenal. And I fear for next year. but we do have a healthy balance so maybe I will be able to keep most of the team. UMUT was replaced by DILLI who grew from 2 stars into 4 stars in one season. Amazing progress. YALCIN entered the 1st 11 in the midfiield and does great. Rest of the core team stayed the same, we sold some bakcups and got new ones form the youth.

Cup was bad. 5th round out again. We need to put more forcus on that in future years.

Champions!

Biggest sale so far. 11,25 mln is quite good.

Champions league we dit well. We shoudl have won in Krakow...but the win against the belgians makes up for that. 5 points in our first year is not bad.

We have the #1 and #2 wonderkid in the world! Can you believe that? I'm afraid I will not be able to keep them. OZDURAN is really wanted by Arsenal and I might lose him, I already declined 8mln offers. Both players are not lised as wonderkid in description though.

This years intake is a tad bit worse than last 2 seaosn but still amazing.

CIGERCI. Wing back who is resilient. Great marking and tackling already. He's just a bit slow and does nto work hard. 2 star ability already though. Could be a starter soon.

Squad | Transfers | Finances

First season done in Iceland, and it was nearly the end of the save. On the 2 last game days, we got 6 point and secure our position in the second league in Iceland. Hopefully can we get some of the new prospects up to the first team, but non of them are a lot better than what we got today, but some of them have the same level and can hopefully develop into being better players than we got. We have nearly non players on contracts and our best player is gone to the next season, so it will be another fight to stay up in the second best league.

Mjólkurbikarinn is the primary cup in Iceland, and we won the first game ind the 2nd round 6-3 in extra time, but got knocked out by Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur in the next round, who is a team from the top flight, so it's fine for me.

Deildabikar is the other cup we played in, and it was the first meeting with the squad. We just bottled it a lot with only 2 points in 5 games, so hopefully we can get a better start to the cup next year.

Now to the interesting thing. Our youth intake. We got an excellent preview, but we got an winger, and it's a position, where we only have 1 player to both wings, and the other players was fine, and maybe some of them wil feature in the next season.

Did you save before, or after the playoff final? If you save after the playoff final, you won't get the option to change your teams. I had to reload to get Motor Lublin for my save.

You can try to recover it using free tools such as Recuva.

2023/24 Season Review:

That was unexpected. First time in my attempts at England that I actually got a promotion. We were pretty good all year and I was pretty confident about making the playoffs but then went on to a 10 match undefeated streak to close out the year (including the playoffs) with 8 of the 10 as wins. 

The stadium upgrade is the downside to promotion as now we have to take on a loan and finances already weren't very good. No luck on any improvements. Coach course was approved but not completed yet.

Youth Intake:

A lot of potential, but without good facilities or coaching it will be hard to reach for a lot of players. Only D & E come in with enough current abilities to have yellow stars. They'll get some backup time next season, and anyone else would be in emergency situations.

2024/25 Season Preview:

I don't really know what to expect here. We didn't match up with any National League teams during cup runs, so the only team we know is Dorking from winning the league. We went 0-1-1 against them last season. The hope is to not get relegated.

Season Summary 2024 - 2025

Great first 2nd Bundesliga season, big generational change coming up! 

 

After our promotion last year the media predicted us to finish last in the 2nd Bundesliga. I could understand why, but we still have some good quality in the team and we managed to finish in a very impressive 9th place! We started very average, but we managed to pick up speed and collect some good wins! At the end of the season we lost quite a few games that we should have won, but it seemed like fatigue had set in a bit! 

We have some good players in our U19 team and I think at least three of them will be promoted to first team starters next season. This will as always provide it's own set of challenges, but it's the only way to make progression.

We have a 21 000 seat stadium, now the board has taken up a massive loan to build new 17 000 seat stadium.............. 

Our Youth Intake wasnt that great, especially in regards to personalities, but we had a great intake last season so I cant complain!

That's a proper annoying bug and no shock they've not fixed it but unfortunately we have to have a blanket ban on the editor even if it's as simple as just changing the name. Sorry.

Yeah could be helpful. As far as I know the bugs are finances in Belgium being a mess and U18's in Scotland don't work as you can't hire staff or move players between the squads right?

You could use an lnc file to change the name of the club, like some of us do to tag our newgens. It's nothing to do with the editor, just overriding the name the team uses.

Brønshøj BK - Youth Intake Season 2

A relatively poor intake this time around, and it certainly didn't help that the players at the top had poor personalities. Again, I'll only be keeping the players that are tagged. Anyone with bad personality + low determination won't develop anyways, and none of them are talented enough to walk into the first team as is. (Especially because we are deep in youth players in M(C) positions)

Spork 02a looks like the player of the bunch with a good personality and starting ability. We needed an influx of youth in the center of defense, so this is appeciated.

Winther 02b is intriguing as a physical speciman. Very tall and can jump, I'm not sure whether to play him on the wing or retrain him up top through the center.

Alright so full 2032/2033 season update is coming soon but i just got an incredible intake, personality wise its iffy but Alex Foden looks INCREDIBLE

Joe Rogers here is immediately going to be a starter, we're lacking defensively and this is what we needed!

ahhh pc crashed a bit after this but i had a semi-recent save so stars are all the same and stuff, thank god.
