Neutral Grounds

Recommended Posts

I have installed an excellent stadium edits mod, whereby the author has used the FM Editor to make English stadiums as faithful to real life as possible.

I've just played an FA Cup semi-final, supposedly at Wembley, against Manchester United, with united drawn first in the draw

You could clearly see it wasn't Wembley but Old Trafford, right down to the red/white goal nets from the graphics during the match

So is FM22 actually acknowledging neutral grounds?

At least few FM-s back (FM20) SI acknowledged in the forums, that in case of neutral ground one team is still selected as "home team" and one as "visitor team". Home team being the one who is shown on the left in the draw.

As the home team has a clear advantages in the game (subtle or less subtle) that caused a bit of a stir, if I remember correctly and looked unfair in terms of cup finals.

Not sure if it's the case here. Perhaps the issue has been fixed in FM22, but your description indicates that despite neutral ground ManU has been treated as the home team and hence the Wembley skin has been written over and replaced by Old Trafford.

If the stadium is really set to neutral Wembley, why would the mod overwrite it with Old Trafford. The mod doesn't interfere with any of the game mechanics, if it was going to overwrite something, it would overwrite the FM22 version of Wembley with its own.

It definitely does. Sounds more like an issue with the mod than the game itself

How is it that you know it definitely does? Why is it also when I read the attendance figure for the match it tells me a total figure with the amount of away fans in brackets?

Because when Bournemouth played Luton in the Playoff final, you could tell it wasn’t a 12k capacity ground.
