Sahaj Oberoi
We face Sittingbourne in the FA Trophy. Also we got knocked out by Swindon in the FA Cup after a valiant display. No shame there.
Sahaj Oberoi
We are through to the next round of the FA Trophy. In the next round of the FA Trophy we face Carlisle.
Sahaj Oberoi
I got the National A License. Also I have received a very interesting job offer from Edinburgh City in Scotland.
Sahaj Oberoi
I received another job interview from Crawley Town, but they rejected me.
Sahaj Oberoi
Some of the results managing Wealdstone. And I have an announcement I will be making shortly.
Sahaj Oberoi
So here is the big announcement. I am officially leaving Wealdstone. And I am joining Gateshead in the Vanarama National League North, a division below my current division. Shock move? Not if you're a mercenary. My wages have increased from 850 pounds per week to 975 pounds per week. Money talks. The journey to being the richest football manager in the world has taken a new step albeit unconventionally. I leave Wealdstone in 13th place in the Vanarama National League.
Sahaj Oberoi
Here is a quick look at the Gateshead squad.
Sahaj Oberoi
Josh Tibbetts has joined Gateshead from Wealdstone for 1.1k pounds. It is great to work with you again, Josh. Hopefully we shall achieve great things together.
Sahaj Oberoi
We signed former Wealdstone player, Harrison Myring. I am so happy about this. He even scored on his debut for Gateshead. We also got a player on loan from Carlisle called Charlie Barnes.
Sahaj Oberoi
Here are some of the results in the league. Also Andy Fennell is injured for 9 days-2 weeks.
Sahaj Oberoi
A few more injuries to key players has meant that we lost two games in a row. Hopefully we can rally the players after a blip that came after a steady start at Gateshead.
Sahaj Oberoi
More injuries. Some players have recovered. Also here are some of the results. We have made a steady start to life at Gateshead. It will be difficult to qualify for the playoffs as we need to win almost every game. But everything I am doing as a manager is to build a platform for the team for next season, whether I will be at Gateshead or not.
Sahaj Oberoi
We signed a player called Michael Adu from Oxford City on a free transfer. That is the one major highlight. We have been stuttering in the league, picking up points here and there but not nearly consistent enough to make it to the playoffs.
Sahaj Oberoi
We signed another player on loan from Coventry called Aidan Finnegan.
Sahaj Oberoi
We had a few mixed results. Yeah that's how I would speak in press conferences to the reporters, but really after an indifferent run of form our form has been mixed. We also signed a player who will come in next summer called Fearghal McGarrity on a free from Dungannon.
Sahaj Oberoi
Our indifferent form has clearly not impressed the board. There was the dreaded board meeting, I came out of it relatively unscathed. Let's hope I don't get sacked by Gateshead.
Sahaj Oberoi
I have to do damage control and maybe find a way out of Gateshead in case another board meeting happens. So I had a look at the job centre and applied for all the jobs that were available. The money needs to keep rolling in somehow. Also I need to find a solution at Gateshead.
Sahaj Oberoi
Burton Albion in League One have offered me a job interview. Current and new readers, stay tuned to find out whether I get the job or not. This is something I did not expect at all. Of course it also depends on the money on offer.
Sahaj Oberoi
But before that, Stockport have offered me a job interview. And let's see what is on offer. Also in other news we have re-signed Joshveer Shergill and Kyle Hayde on loan for the next season as well from Solihull Moors and Tranmere respectively.
Sahaj Oberoi
Okay, here is the big announcement. I DID NOT get the Burton job. BUT. I had an interview with Barrow in League Two. On paper it is a realistic step forward. And it also depends on the wages I will get.
Sahaj Oberoi
So another major event. I have rejected the Barrow job in League Two because they were offering a lower wage than I currently have at Gateshead. Also I rejected the Stockport job in the Vanarama National League for the same reason. We got a couple of good results towards the end of the season as we are looking to finish the season on a high. Sahaj Oberoi
I have got a new coaching badge, the Continental C License. Also I have managed 100+ games on my save in football management. The season has ended and we, Gateshead have finished 14th in the Vanarama National League North. Edited July 16, 2022 by Sahajpal Oberoi
Sahaj Oberoi
Another board meeting. Another close shave with losing my job at Gateshead. Honestly coming up with stuff to keep my job is getting exhausting. The club have reasonably high ambitions. It is basically like a lower level Newcastle. Yes I am comparing it to Newcastle as Gateshead is based around the area. And I am like Sam Allardyce caught in the headlights, trying to make sense of the squad, realizing that the squad is worse than it initially appears to be and also trying to convince the board to lower expectations to a certain extent. Sahaj Oberoi
My transfer budget is 5.54k pounds and my wage budget is negative. I also had an interview with Ukrainian Premier League side Chornomorets, but they won't be hiring me as their manager. Also on the request of one of my players who has asked me to improve the coaching team, I am doing exactly just that and there will be an overhaul in the coaching team. Sahaj Oberoi
Are you kidding me? This is a joke. Another board meeting. I have do something about this. Like make a proper decision. I will continue applying for jobs. But I have to see if Gateshead offer me more money. I don't know what I am going to do.
Sahaj Oberoi
St Pat's Athletic in Ireland offered me a job interview. But I didn't get the job. HOWEVER. There is some very big news. Technically Chornomorets in the Ukrainian Premier League is the biggest club to ever offer me a job interview so far, but there is another big club relatively that has offered me a job interview. And that club is Barnsley. Now, let us see whether I actually get the job. Also it depends on the money on offer.
Sahaj Oberoi
A bunch of players have renewed their contracts. And I have 3 job interviews. I have a job interviews with Bolton Wanderers, Cambridge United and Port Vale. All 3 sides are in League Two. At least I am getting interviews now. Sahaj Oberoi
I made an edit to my previous post and I posted who won the Champions League, so for new and existing readers in case you didn't know, the winners of the Champions League this season are Manchester City. Sahaj Oberoi
We have some big news. So I have LEFT Gateshead and I have joined Cambridge United in League Two. Yes everyone, I am the new Cambridge United manager. And I have got a 25 pound pay rise in 5 months. My wages have increased from 975 pounds per week to 1000 pounds per week. Yes I have broken through to the 1k mark. And the journey towards being the richest football manager in the world has taken another twist, just when I thought that my managerial career was on the brink of being obscure at Gateshead in the Vanarama National League North albeit with a good amount of money that is being paid to me, Cambridge United have offered me a job two divisions above in League Two. My transfer budget is 208k pounds and wage budget is 1.62k pounds per week.
Sahaj Oberoi
Here is the Cambridge United squad report.
Sahaj Oberoi
We have signed Greg Olley for 65k pounds from Gateshead and Ethen Vaughan for 35k pounds from Gateshead, Vaughan has been loaned back to Gateshead for the upcoming season. Also another transfer that happened before I joined the club was a free transfer of a player called Lee Ashcroft from Dundee. Also some players have signed new contracts with the club. There have been some changes in the backroom staff but I delegated the backroom staff changes to my board.
Sahaj Oberoi
We signed a player from Dundalk called Andrew Quinn for 23k pounds. We also loaned out Connor Barratt to Boston United and Jacob Edwards to Braintree. Also the first round of the Carabao Cup has been drawn and we will face Morecambe.
Sahaj Oberoi
It is that time of the year again. We check who is on the rich list in terms of managers. It is still Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Antonio Conte at Inter and Jose Mourinho at Tottenham. But the interesting thing to note is that Antonio Conte has taken a pay cut in order to stay at Inter. Manchester City finished 3rd in the Premier League, lost the Community Shield to Liverpool, lost the Carabao Cup final to Arsenal and lost in the FA Cup fifth round against Chelsea. But they won the Champions League final against Liverpool. Inter finished 2nd in Serie A under Conte, got knocked out in the Champions League first knockout round against Atletico Madrid and lost the Italian Cup final against Juventus. Tottenham under Mourinho finished 4th in the Premier League, got knocked out by Manchester City in the 4th round of the Carabao Cup, got knocked out by Juventus in the first knockout round of the Champions League and lost to Arsenal in the FA Cup 5th round. Meanwhile, I have a lot of catching up to do as I am earning 1,000 pounds per week at Cambridge United.
Sahaj Oberoi
We signed some players. Aaron McNally comes on loan from Longford. Then there was another transfer arranged by the board before I joined Cambridge and that was the transfer of Ben Tilney from Larne, he came in on a free. Also I got Josh Brooking on a free after he was released by Chelsea. The other big news is that, I have always wanted to incorporate players who were good at my previous club on some level at my next club, so since Gary Roberts retired from football after his spell at Gateshead and he was very good, I have given him his first coaching gig at Cambridge, he joins in as an Under 18's coach. A mercenary can be motivated by money, but it doesn't mean he/she doesn't value the contributions of the people that work with them.
Sahaj Oberoi
There was a bit of wheeling and dealing in the summer transfer window so far. We sold Paul Digby to Notts County for 61k pounds. Laurence Wyke came to Cambridge on a free transfer after being released by Crewe. We also signed Gateshead keeper Harrison Male for 91k pounds. Then we sold Dimitar Mitov to Notts County for 63k pounds. And we bought Daniel Grimshaw from Crewe for 63k pounds.
Sahaj Oberoi
So, there was the Carabao Cup first round and we beat Morecambe 4-1. We will be facing Aston Villa in the next round. Also we had our first league game in League Two against Wrexham. It was an entertaining match. We lost 3-2 and both our goal scorers got injured. Also Neil O'Sullivan went on loan to Slough.
Sahaj Oberoi
The Papa John's Trophy group has been drawn for Cambridge United. We are in Southern Section Group C and we have Aston Villa Under 23's, Gillingham and Swindon in our group.
Sahaj Oberoi
Harvey Knibbs, someone I consider a key player for Cambridge United is injured for 6-7 weeks. We also got knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Aston Villa. A steady start this season, let's see whether we can kick on. Also we signed a player called Harley Willard for 8.5k pounds from Larne.
Sahaj Oberoi
So one Dean goes, another Dean comes in. Dean Cornelius has moved on loan to Dulwich Hamlet and we have signed Will Dean on a free transfer. He comes from Exeter on a free. Also here are some results in the league.
Sahaj Oberoi
Aaron McNally's loan spell at Cambridge has ended and he's gone back to Longford. In comes Sam Ling from Leyton Orient for 10.25k pounds. A stuttering start to my spell at Cambridge means things have to pick up fast.
Sahaj Oberoi
We signed Connor Hodgson on a free transfer. He is a youngster who came from Barnsley. Also Ben Worman has gone on loan to Eastbourne Boro.
Sahaj Oberoi
James Penrice has gone on loan to Aldershot. We also signed a striker on a free transfer called Chris McKee, a former Rangers prospect. The league form is god awful and we haven't won in 8 games. We need to do something in the league, our attack is faltering and Joe Ironside is the only attacking player putting in decent numbers in attack. Harrison Male, the goalkeeper has also stood out. The thing is that we are very competitive in games and we have that mental toughness about us in games which gives me hope that we will be fine eventually.
Sahaj Oberoi
First things first, Harry McKirdy has gone to Stockport on loan. Also we have some very good news, we have qualified for the next round of the Papa John's Trophy, thanks to the best performance by the Cambridge players so far that led to an emphatic 3-0 win against Gillingham.
Sahaj Oberoi
Our struggles in the league continue. But there is some transfer news. Myles Hippolyte comes in on a free transfer. He was released by Scunthorpe who did well in the Vanarama National League last season, so we snapped him up. Also Patrick Webber has gone on loan to Dover.
Sahaj Oberoi
So I got my Continental B License. We face Bradford City in the FA Cup first round and our league form is still concerning.
Sahaj Oberoi
Couple of loan deals. Lewis Simper went on loan to Gloucester and Charlie Machell went on loan to Bath. We also signed a player on a free called Adian Manning. We are in a rut and we have to overcome this run of form.
