We have played our first few games as Spain manager and it has been a bright start. Managing a team of this quality is both a blessing and a curse as I am on a knife edge when it comes to management. If it goes well and if I win a major trophy for example then my managerial reputation will increase and on the other hand if it goes badly then I don't know what next.

Been really enjoying this! It seems could be the pinnacle for the career so far so I hope the stint works out well for you, if not then I fear you may spend a couple of seasons unemployed with your rules.

Thank you very much. It has to work out, you're right. You know there is no point in thinking what would happen next, whatever will happen, will happen. But yes it would be nice to win a major trophy. The Qatar job catapulted me up to the Spain job, as apart from Hartlepool where I won the FA trophy about 13 years back within the save, the Qatar job was the best job I personally feel I have done, when it comes to getting players to perform as well as they can. Especially considering I did such a messed up job with UAE, a 9% win rate in 17 months, this was worse than the Cambridge job about 14 years back within the save. From the disaster as UAE manager that left me in the lurch to becoming the Spain manager, it is a comeback. Not exactly failing upwards but the Qatar job had a huge influence on me getting the Spain job.

It is that time of the year again, it is the January transfer window and I have been looking for new jobs. Also there has been a case where a player has reaffirmed his commitment to represent Spain on the national stage, also the Ivory Coast Under 20's job was offered to me but I have declined it. Also the World Cup qualifying group stage has been drawn, it is a good group that we hope to progress from.

Spain is going well, i hope youre having better luck at the world cup, i look forward to it.

Yes it is, thanks. My managerial reputation also increased first by getting the Spain job and then getting wins as Spain manager, let's hope it translates into something successful. I seem like a Maurizio Sarri/Graham Potter style of manager, working my way from the Vanarama National League South to the Spain job in a very obscure way, for those who have read the entire thing so far, you will know.

It is that time of the year again, it is the 1st of July and we are going to talk about the managerial rich list. It is the same three people even now, Antonio Conte, Jurgen Klopp and Brendan Rodgers. An interesting fact is that Marcelino who was earning the same amount as Brendan Rodgers has retired from football after managing Atletico Madrid for about 7 years. And Jurgen Klopp is now 70 years old on the save so maybe he could quit the Real Madrid job too. So under Conte last season, Inter finished 2nd in Serie A, got knocked out in the Italian Cup semi final against Juventus and got knocked out by Benfica in the quarter final of the Champions League. Under Klopp, last season, Real Madrid finished 3rd in La Liga, lost to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, lost to Levante in the fifth round of the Spanish Cup and got knocked out by Liverpool in the first knockout round in the Champions League. Under Rodgers, last season, Liverpool finished 2nd in the Premier League, lost to Tottenham in the Community Shield, got knocked out by Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup third round, got knocked out by Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter final and got knocked out by Manchester United in the Champions League semi final.

We remain unbeaten in the World Cup qualifying games after a win against Malta and a draw against Ukraine. But we have a couple of injuries to deal with and the squad for the World Cup qualifying games in October has been decided. I brought in two youngsters to the squad who are in good form and if you are good enough you play for the Spain national team.

Shock loss to Israel in the World Cup qualifiers for our Spain national team. That is the big story. We face a fight to qualify for the World Cup now as we are in 2nd place in the group and we need wins against Ukraine and Cyprus to confirm that. I have somehow managed to hang on to the job and this is my first truly big job so it is a huge test.

i have faith u can turn it around otherwise it might be a long search for a new job cause idk who is gonna pay you as much as spain did.

Thank you for your faith @willemvandoorn15 .

I definitely need to turn it around, it is not total crisis mode but Israel have this lethal striker called Itay Freda who is just a proper goalscorer. He currently plays for Lyon in Ligue 1 on my save and is banging the goals in for them. We need to do something quick.

So I have been SACKED as Spain manager after 16 months in charge. I had a 60% win rate. I failed to finish top of my group with Spain in the World Cup qualification campaign. And I finished 3rd with 20 points in 10 games. It is honestly heartbreaking. I think I have also failed to qualify for the World Cup. This is absolutely ****. And I just hope someone who offers me decent wages takes me as their manager. Greed has caught up to me over the past 16 years in management. And being the mercenary I am, I will pursue more money on the save. So it continues.

I have applied for many jobs, I have also been offered many jobs but I refused to take them all because of the wages. I wish Cyprus did not score that last minute equalizer. Maybe I could have stayed on as Spain manager. But I trust the universe. I trust it has something bigger in store for me.

I also wish you luck finding a suitable job... You think you have the reputation to manage a premier league club?

Two and a half stars out of five. That is my reputation. Hopefully that is enough for a good job in one of the top leagues or a good national team job once more.

I don't know where my next step will be. The Wolves job is insecure in the Premier League and I was offered a job interview by Portsmouth who also made it back into the Premier League after many years in the wilderness, but they chose someone else. Some club or country who will pay me more than 58k pounds per week will be good.

So it is that time of the year again. The managerial rich list is as follows. A new name has entered the list after many seasons. Top of the list is Antonio Conte at Inter Milan who is earning 300k pounds per week. Second on the list is Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool who is earning 160k pounds per week. Third on the list is Julian Nagelsmann at Atletico Madrid who is also earning 160k pounds per week. Under Conte last season, Inter Milan won Serie A, they also got knocked out by Roma in the Italian Cup semi final, and they got knocked out by Olympique Lyon in the Champions League quarter final. Under Rodgers last season, Liverpool came 2nd in the Premier League last season, they won the Club World Cup final against Manchester United, got knocked out in the Carabao Cup third round by Chelsea, lost to Norwich in the FA Cup quarter final and got knocked out in the Champions League semi final against Olympique Lyon. Under Nagelsmann last season, Atletico Madrid finished 2nd in La Liga, lost to Real Sociedad in the Super Cup semi final, lost to Real Madrid in the Spanish Cup final, lost to Manchester City in the Champions League quarter final.

Hey Sahajpal, can't you - for example - lower your wage demands over time? Say for each month unemployed, you'd accept jobs offering xyz% less wage than the reference?

No, that's the point of the challenge. You get a job that is equal or higher than your current wage. I know someone called Derbyjack who does that on some level, but I would consider it not to be the rules of the challenge.

Holland won the 2038 World Cup. We have been unemployed for a little over 8 months now. And I hope I get a good offer soon. I got passed over for the jobs of the bigger nations that sacked their manager after the World Cup, so it is going to be like I will wait for the most appropriate offer to come that I will take.

10 months without a job, there was a period in between the Benfica B and the UAE job of 18 months where I could not find work on the save. We have to have faith in ourselves that we can find an employment opportunity that matches our wages.

More months without employment, the Spain job has proved to be a poisoned chalice rather than the step up I thought it would be, the fact that we did not make it to the World Cup with Spain is a huge blot on my CV and a lot of potential employers are noticing it. The positive I take from it is that at least I got the opportunity to manage Spain.

17 months of unemployment, we are getting closer to the gap that I spent being unemployed in between the Benfica B and the UAE job. In hindsight there was a reason I got the Spain job, it was an underperforming big team and I did not do quite as well as expected.

The longest period of time we have been unemployed. Nearly 19 months. The Spain job was a poisoned chalice, pretty much a career wrecker. I am struggling to find another job after a high profile failure, which is the failure to qualify for the World Cup with Spain. Oh, Itay Freda, I wish you did not exist. I would have beaten Israel in the World Cup qualifiers and we would have been talking about a reputation increase, instead it led to a humiliating sacking by Spain. In other news, Portugal won the 2039 Nations League.

It is that time of the year again. The 1st of July. So in 2039, the managerial rich list looks like this. It is Antonio Conte at Inter at the top of the list earning 300k pounds per week. Second on the list is Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool earning 160k pounds per week. And third on the list is Julian Nagelsmann at Atletico Madrid earning 160k pounds per week. Under Conte last season, Inter finished 4th in Serie A, they won the Italian Super Cup against Roma, got knocked out in the Champions League first knockout round against Arsenal and won the Italian Cup against Atalanta. Under Rodgers last season, Liverpool finished 2nd in the Premier League, lost the Community Shield against Manchester United, won the Carabao Cup against Leeds, won the FA Cup against Manchester United and got knocked out in the Champions League quarter final against Tottenham. Under Nagelsmann last season, Atletico Madrid won La Liga, lost the Spanish Super Cup final to Real Sociedad, lost to Real Sociedad in the Spanish Cup fifth round and lost in the Champions League semi final to Manchester United.
