Welcome to the Greece! Here we will try to revive the former power of one of the greatest clubs in the country - Panathinaikos.

There will be a great emphasis on developing young players through the club vertical (U19 --> B Team --> Senior Team), a smart transfer policy with a focus on Greek players (but without any self-restrictions).

I would also like to bring the team a modern and attractive football and our training and recruitment should focus on having the right players for this style of play.

Game setup (leagues loaded)

Top 5 (down to the second tier) - England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France

Greece's neighboring countries - Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey

Other countries - Cyprus, Netherland, Portugal, Serbia, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Argentina (view only), Brazil (view only)

+ All international players from all continents and players from European clubs participating in continental competitions.

Starting point

- Adequate corporate facilities

- Good training facilities

- Good youth facilities

Stadium (Apostolos Nikolaidis):

- 16000 Capacity

- Good condition

- Owned by the club

- 1.3M € overall balance

- 4.1M € state loan (until 30/6/22)

f1gb344.png   SQUAD OVERVIEW

Senior squad

J9aMZnl.pngSokratis DioudisQd4SshJ.pngAlberto Brignoli

Probably the best line in the squad. Two very good keepers in their best years.

B Team & U19

The only one who could be mentioned is Nikos Christogeorgos. He looks decent.

Senior squad

OTK0AUt.pngZvonimir SarlijaJ9aMZnl.pngAchilleas PoungourasaiATnKW.pngBart SchenkeveldJ9aMZnl.pngGiorgos Sideras | 0Z2yVDx.pngFacundo SánchezJ9aMZnl.pngGiannis Kotsiras | ZluSLhz.pngFran VélezJ9aMZnl.pngIlias ChatzitheodoridisZluSLhz.png Juankar

Decent line with some great players like Juankar, Schenkeveld (he is out till November), Kotsiras but it lacks quality in depth.

B Team & U19

Some real talents here: Giorgos Vagiannidis, Evagoras Antoniou.

Senior squad

J9aMZnl.pngDimitris KourbelisA1peCjw.pngMauricioJ9aMZnl.pngSotris Alexandropoulas | GRpP7Jv.pngYassin AyoubZluSLhz.pngRubén Pérez | 0Z2yVDx.pngLucas VillafáñezA1peCjw.pngMateus Vital | mUjVNRg.pngUffe BechJ9aMZnl.pngTasos ChatzigiovanispcjPWRu.pngRamon-Pascal Lundqvistkrnoi1a.pngMijat Gaćinović |0Z2yVDx.pngSebástian PalaciosZluSLhz.pngAitor Cantalapiedra

I`m really satisfied with our midfield. A lot of technical and experienced players. Kourbelis is a team leader but unfortunately he is seriously injured and can`t help us for the next 5-6 months. And we have young Greece talent Sotris Alexandropoulas who is expected to have bright future not only in the club but in National team too.

B Team & U19

A lot of youngsters here but no one is could be described as bright talent. Though Gianis Sardelis, Andreas Athanasakopoulas and Dimitris Kaloskamis have some potential to break into senior squad.

ZluSLhz.pngCarlitos | Qd4SshJ.pngFederico MachedaJ9aMZnl.pngFotis Ioannidis

We have three versatile players which is really helpful. Carlitos is creative and clinical in the box, Macheda is decent advanced forward and young Ioannidis could be excellent pressing forward in the future.

B Team & U19

We don`t have any good young strikers in club system and this is the area we should look in the future with our recruitment team.

I have already agreed new two-years contracts with Mauricio, Juankar, Facundo Sanchez. At the same time Chtazigiovanis have claimed that he wants to leave the club after the end of contract. And also we can`t meet demands of  Villafáñez, and it looks like he will leave next summer too.

Great start. Greece is on my (long) list of countries I want to manage in. Will be following along.

Thanks, Ben. Yes, Greece is very interesting place. And for those who are going to manage Olympiakos, PAOK, AEK and Panathinaikos there is a huge bonus now - reserve team in 2nd tier that can`t be relegated (and promoted too of course). So there is a great platform for developing young players.

f1gb344.png   2021-2022 | PRE-SEASON REPORT

Setting-up training schedules

Hard first two weeks of pre-season followed by 3 weeks with multiply matches – good base for the season especially with high-energy football we are going to play.

For the season I want our training to be balanced and focus on upcoming matches firstly.

We have also some occasional schedules for something like international breaks or big match ahead.

Tactical approach

I`m satisfied with what I`ve drawn on the paper and what I`ve seen in pre-season fixtures but lets see how it works in official matches.

As you can see – it`s quite attacking approach but without real extremes, with priority to shorter passing but moving the ball quicker than in classical tiki-taka style. We are going to press opposition higher up the pitch to reduce the time they make decisions. At the same time standard DL allows our not the quickest defense not to lose opposition attacking players easily.

Friendly matches

I couldn`t say that it was perfect but I saw a lot of positives in team actions on the pitch.  More important that we`ve avoided any serious injures during this period.

Staff movements

Tbh our staff quality is pretty average but at the moment we don`t have enough founds to make a massive overhaul and not so many good specialists available who want to join our team.

We`ve agreed to terminate contracts with DoF and technical director as I have no need in these positions at the club.

At the same time we`ve signed 5 new coaches, 3 new scouts, new Head of Sports Science.

So for now now our senior team staff looks like this:

Coaching team

Medical team

Recruitment team

Some notable figures: Valencia `s Icon Vicente as scout, very good goalkeeping coach Christos Kelpekis (new signing), whose last club was Watford, fitness coach Stergios Fotopoulos well known to Russian fans.

Board expectations

Our board is not too ambitious but club is not in its best conditions for the last years and I think they are cautious in their expectations. But I aim for top-4 as we need to return to European football as soon as possible.

f1gb344.png   2021-2022 | SEPTEMBER UPDATE

I couldn't even imagine starting the season like that. "Derby of the eternal rivals" on the Olympiacos ground and 3-1 win. Absolutely fantastic!  (Sorry, @Sheriff7 :D). As well as the next match against one of the season favorites - PAOK. Very comfortable win with exciting football from our side.  Next two matches were good in terms of quality of our play but finishing was below average. We were close to 4th win a row but sudden mistake of Poungouras on last minute cost us 2 points.

f1gb344.png   2021-2022 | OCTOBER UPDATE

Excellent month. Two straight crushing wins in a league over Ionikos and Volos, two rounds passed in Greece Cup and summary 10 games unbeaten run. Cantalapiedra is a man of the month for me, started as backup for Vital, but have gained much more matches in the start.

Suddenly I forget to save those pictures from PAS Giannina and PAOK fixtures.

Well, first defeat came from the last game of 2021. But before that match we crashed again Olympiakos which is very pleasant.

f1gb344.png   2021-2022 | JANUARY UPDATE

Transfer Window

Chatzigiovanis early before the season had claimed that he will leave the club after the end of contract so I think It was right decision to let him go in January and get money from the transfer. Bech was also in his last year of contract but he is just significantly lower standards of our club. Ayoub and Ilias were sent on loan to have more regular playing time.

4pVgP9a.png image is clickable

Good and cheap attacking player with decent technical skills. Will provide needed depth after Chatzigiovanis departure.

vQyFf5X.png image is clickable

Top transfer for us. Lykogiannis was in 6 month before his contract expired and agreed to return to his homeland without any high demands for wage.

Very busy month with four 3-0 wins in a row including another win in Derby in cup fixture. Though we lost 4 points in January our position in league is still very comfortable and I hope we could avoid any significant drops in form.

Another excellent month with 5 wins, 0 conceded goals and 13 scored. We are near to entering Championship group from the 1st place and also in one step from the Cup final

We are in the cup final and we start the Championship Group with 6 points and another beautiful win in Derby. Olympiakos fans should be furious.

Youth Intake 2022

Though our HoYD says that It`s an excellent intake I am more cautious in my judgments. There are some good youngsters but no one clearly looks like top talent.

The win over Panetolikos meant an early victory in the league. Having guaranteed the title, we once again won the main derby of the country.

Even the loss in Zosimades could not overshadow the end of the season. The final point of this incredible year was victory in the Nation Cup Final.

f1gb344.png   2021-2022 |SEASON REVIEW

Fantastic season and start of my alter ego career in PAO. It would be easily described as overachievement but looking at how stable we were during the whole season I have no doubts that we fully deserve both titles.

Good to see your B and U's19s doing well in their league   Shame U's19 missed out by a point!

Yes, I`m especially impressed with our B Team. They are playing the same tactical system as the main squad and It`s good to know that system works even with lower quality players.

f1gb344.png   2022-2023 |SEASON PREVIEW

Players Out

Not the best financial situation forced us to raise funds by selling some good actives. Selling Brignoli was an easy decision though as we have Dioudis. Two great keepers is a luxury in current situation. Schenkeveld not really impressed me even thoug he was rankes by assistant as our best defender. But stats say otherwise. Carlitos is more tough decision. He was our top scorer last season but he spent a lot of time in medical cabinet and in 31 y.o. with last year in his contract I decided to let him go.

Players In

I`m satisfied with our transfer campaign. With very limited finances we signed qualified players. Savic looks impressive - absolutely top transfer for us. Though I would like him to learn new position on right wing. Borges is pacey young player with decent potential. Signings of Blazic and Saliakis we had already agreed in winter with their contracts going to expire. They are very solid and should strengthen defensive line. Zivkovic is another great signing for free. He looks like perfect backup for Dioudis - experienced and still skilled enough.

Expected First and Second XI

* Ayoub has returned from loan

** Borges is third-choice winger

f1gb344.png   2022-2023 | JULY - AUGUST UPDATE

Final two signings that I`m really excited with

images are clickable

V45OIxo.png uigpFf7.png

Joaquin is versatile attacking player, very strong mentally and still young. Fein looks better than any other playmakers in our team. I hope that Bayern will not offer him new contract and we could try to sign him for free next season.

We returned to Champions League from the second qualifying round where in two tough matches we beat Ferencvaros. Suduva was more easier task. At the playoff stages we faced Norwegian top side Bodo/Glimt. After total destroy at the first leg we were very close to comeback but missed some great chances at the final minutes. So we enter Europa League group stages and this tournament suits us more then UCL at this stage.

At the very first match of the Super League season we lost points in match with one of the main outsiders but then won 3 in a row including 2-0 with PAOK.

Very tough draw but we will try to catch few points here and there.

With the money from UEFA we made investments in our facilities.

Thriller at Olympiakos stadium ended with first defeat in Derby under my achievement. On a positive side we grabbed 6 points in first 3 EL matches and beat AEK in another Athens Derby.

f1gb344.png   2022-2023 | OCTOBER - NOVEMBER UPDATE

If not annoying home defeat in match with Aris ( @Sheriff7 you are right - Aris is a big surprise), it could be a perfect month. But what I`m really proud of - it`s our performance in Europe. In group with so strong opponents we took 15 points and finished 1st.

We are in a long mid-season break, watching WC without Greece. Next official matches will be only at the end of December

World Cup

Group Stages

Groups A-D | Groups E-H

The only one but what a sensation! Brazil is 4th in Group with Czech, Denmark and Algeria...4th!!

Italy is the winner and it`s not a sensation of course. Great tournament for Czech - their best result in modern history (Czechoslovakia was runner-up two times, last one in 1962).

Transfer window

Two notable departures: Villafranez and Macheda were near to the end of contract and opted to live the club so we got decent money for Argentinian playmaker and agreed mutual contract termination with Federico whose game in this season was real disappointment.

Two loans with mandatory future fee. Very talented players, who could be the core of the new PAO that we are building.

Tough month with matches against biggest Greek sides. Our game is very pleasant even though we lost points in fixtures with Panetolikos and AEK. We also got to the semi-finals of Greek Cup where will meet PAOK.

Poor intake - same as in previous season. Though Oikonomou could be decent pressing forward in the future if he develop well.
