Well..if they dont play their first team, we got a small chance.

Luckily the EFL Cup goes straight to pens after 90 minutes.

We got like 6-7 players with decent pens and this advantage we took and beat City!

I think we played ok vs City, made couple of mistakes to many.

The rest of the month went pretty good.

 

Yes we are currently 4th, but we still need to play some big teams.

We need to think from game to game.

Arsenal...Liverpool...Chelsea...in 8 days and at the end of December Spurs.

Well atleast we got a lot of home game.

Boom!

After yelling at Edwards he finally showed his quality.

We played really well overall, your can feel the progression of the entire team.

I think its save to say, we are fighting for Europe this season.

4th to 10th only 3 points.

We are in the semi final of the EFL Cup again.

We drew Brentford in the EFL Cup. And looking at the other semi final, there is a good possibility of some silverware.

Tough end of January with Simeone, City and Spurs...

Im pretty proud of those transfers.

 

Diawara came last winter from AS Rom for 7,75 mio. He played pretty ok, but I hate players which hates big matches.

After 2 months....there was the "hate big matches" icon...

So I put him on the unwanted list and Mr. DoF managed to sell him to Wolves for a 3 mio profit and we got rid of the 4 mio/year wages.

 

Shomurodov was pretty key in our first season the Premier League.

But he only works in a two striker formation, I noticed this last season too.

So I saw that Lyon was interested in him, so I offered him out for 30 mio. They said...yep here is the money.

We made 26,3 mio profit on him!

 

Jean Lucas was a signing our first DoF. We payed 800k last season which was a steal in my eyes.

He is a solid allrounder, but we are starting to outgrow him.

He goes for 6,75 mio and roughly 6 mio profit back to Brazil.

 

Small profit on Sokratis after 6 months. He was moaning abouth playing time.

With Hector Herrera we got some much needed experience in our team.

An absolute leader and big match player. He is the replacement for Diawara.

 

I dont search for wonderkids, but if my scout find them, I will look at them.

Marcos Leonardo looks amazing for 20 years and for 13,5 mio I thinks its a decent prize.

I think I will still search for an older option.

 

Kieran Trippier was transfer listed by Newcastle and...why not

Decent HG option, which will challenge Kristensen.

Really nice 2:0 away win in the 1st leg.

Marcous Leonardo settled really well.

 

Also our first academy prospect got his first minutes.

Finsson looks like he got all the tools to be a solid IW

January 2024 - EFL Cup - Semi Final - 2nd Leg

Smashed Brentford with 4 goals at home.

 

We got the chance of our first silverware of this save!

We will play the Wolverhampton Wanderers.

 

And we are still undefeated at Wembley!

Ok we only played once there, but straight facts.

Pretty good month.

Only one loss in the league, beat Leicester and drew Spurs.

Benarous was a young prospect from the Bristol academy.

And we finally sold Yiadom, our 3rd choice RB.

Two unlucky games at the start of the month.

But we ended with 5:1 smashing of Everton.

 

Looking at the table...it seems we gettin Europa League football next season.

I dont think Chelsea will drop points.

End Of Season Review 2023/24

Another amazing season!

I wanted a top 10 finish and we got a top 5 finish.

 

And...we won the EFL Cup!

I think we got almost the right mix of old and young players.

The decision to bring in a 33 y/o Hector Herrera or Eden Hazard elevated us to the next step.

 

Lets see if I can improve that even more in the summer.

Rodrygo was transfer listed by request for the entire season.

I thought very long about him, but in the end... why the hell not.

 

He still had a contract until 2027, so I locked in the 4 mio p/a wage contribution.

The upped the fee from 26 mio to 35 mio, but we pay 15 mio over 3 year.

 

He probably will play on the right side.

I had the option to buy him for 22-25 mio, but he wanted like 7 mio/year wages.

This would break our entire wage structure.
