End Of Season Review 2022/23

 

Amazing 10th place!

We tried to play 4312 this season and I wasnt really good.

After playing different formation, we settled on a 433 and we ended the season on a really good run.

We managed to find the right players to help us survive this season.

 

Eldor Shomurodov with 31 goals pretty much carried us alone.

Also the signing of Alvaro Fernandet was huge, so we conceded less goals.

 

Time to analyse the squad and commit fully to the 433.

Again...amazing 10th place!

Also we had a spicy cup run in the League Cup.

I would love to repeat this, 7th-10th place would be amazing.

First signing. I decided to buy Mukhtar after his loan spell.

We had a 13 mio clause, but we agreed on 6 mio.

If we look only at this, I wouldnt bought him.

But....he always played in a position, he cant really perform to his strength.

He played the first half of the season as DLF and then as left IF.

 

Once I switched to the 433 and played him in the midfield 3 as AP, he delivered.

I will ignore the Arsenal game, he got injured there.

We found one new starting CB in Italy.

We payed like 3 mio for the loan and 15 mio next! summer.

We survived the first season pretty well.

Now we can hopefully upgrade the team enough to repeat the midtable position with less headeach.

We had a preseason meeting and we agreed on that we need another right IW.

So we set a short terms focus and my scout mentioned Edwards.

Well.. thats perfect.

Looking at his partial scouted stats, the time is up for Zemura or Iago.

He looks like a slightly better version then Iago.

So we sent Iago back to Brazil in exchange.

 

Sokratis should be a decent 4th choice CB and mentor for one maybe two seasons.

Yes his workrate is pretty meh.

I dont really focus on that, but I only got 2 players in the squad with less the 11 workrate after this transfer phase.

So hopefully the other "work horses" can cover for that.

A lot of players which helps us last season to stay in the Premier League.

But we needed to do better.

Pretty happy with CBs we collected this season.

Theate and Mendez will be our main pairing here.

With Katinic we got a very nice prospect and with Sokratis a nice veteran.

The wingbacks will be our next big target next season.

Its fine for this year, but we need to upgrade Zemura and Yiadom.

So Abner and Kristensen can switch to the rotation role.

Sangare is pretty good, he even can cover the CB role.

Diawara I will let go, if an offer comes in. He is good, but if we can double our money, I take that.

Our main duo will be Hlozek and Edwards.

But Scott and Moleiro are pretty close and will pressure them.

"Only" two strikers, but every winger can cover there also.

This will also be the next position, we need to upgrade.

Shomurodov is fine for now, but we need a big boy here.

We increased the youth level to 1.

After this season Im planning to upgrade the traning facilities.

Unlucky game vs United, we probably deserve a draw here.

The draw against Crystal was pretty meh, again unlucky.

Tough month in my eyes.

Leeds is pretty strong and away to Brighton and Leicester also not easy.

And we drew City in the EFL Cup....no semi final again I guess.
