Blauwe vogel
as title sais, i've had a lot of potential staff being excellent physio's, only to refuse offers because no matter what they must be a sports scientist. Posted example isn't that bad, but I had a guy with sport science 4 and physio 15 yet still he thought '' yeah f u bro I want a carreer change. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it certainly isn't an anomaly since i've encountered it multiple times.

Prepper_Jack
Yep. I suppose people sometimes want to do what they're not best at. Sometimes you can use this to your advantage. For example, I often pick up general managers with 20 negotiating skill who want to be physios, and no interest in being a general manager. Have one right now with 17 negotiating, 7 JPA, and 6 JPP, for $5.75k a year, full-time. A "real" GM with 10 stats in each stat would cost twice as much as the club is willing to pay, and probably wouldn't be as useful. Have also gotten some great budget Head of Youth Developments through such means, often by sifting through available scouts. They do have a tendency to leave once their contract is through, however, though not always.
HUNT3R
Your screenshots don't show whether (or how much) the staff member is interested in a Sports Scientist job. It only shows that they're very interested in being a Physio, so it seems strange that they wouldn't negotiate.
Blauwe vogel
To clarify, both screenshots were taken when negotiations went bust, and what usually happens is : I open negotiations, see that they want to be a sportsscientist, I change that to Physio and suggest it, and then they lock out on sportsscientist. Besides, they have just as much interest ( if the green bubbles are indiciations of interest) in being a sports scientist as seen behind the pop up, but it is a bad screen shot on my part. It is an indication of their interest in the role (hover your mouse and a tooltip will appear to indicate this) so something is off there.

Parmie
So essentially it's a bug, but not necessarily with your negotiations, your guy with 3 sports science and 15 physiotherapy refusing a physio role is more because he's currently a head of sport science from the look of it, that's the underlying reason, so the bug is more why the AI appoints someone that bad. The other example is more obtuse but I assume something similar where his self-perception is that he's a sports science. I do find staff more willing to accept a 2nd choice role if you bump up the wages.

Ideally, report it and upload a copy of your save so that the situation can be easily reproduced. SI can then look into it under the hood to see what's going on. du Garbandier
You can lock the role you're offering before you make the offer. Don't know if that helps. Also, if you're going through Staff search, add 'preferred role' to the conditions.
