[FM22] Wrexham Wonders [Wrexham to the Top]

Wrexham, much like Newcastle, are a team that gained a heavy amount of funding. This is a save of trying to get Wrexham to the Premier League. Ryan Reynolds is the owner of the club. They're extremely ambitious (and to be fair, so am I), expecting promotion this season, which I am aiming to do. What does our tactic look like, then?

Rules/Goals

Gain promotion early on, by winning as much as possible.

Youth focus, if we can, pull in the youth into the side.

Sign young and try to sell them for a profit, repeat.

Devine is already a leading player for this league, and has the potential to be League One quality. A steal for 86k.

Gordon

Depending on how he does, we may try to sign him on permanently. But he might only be on loan, but he looks good for us.

Productive in pre-season, we struggled a little afterwards.

However only 3 points seperate us and 1st.

Well, I guess we're getting a good deal with strikers. We'll see.

October - December 2021 Results

We're definitely starting to pick up speed here, picking up points after points, but occasionally dropping them. We're a little inconsistent.

We're top of the league, but only just. Several clubs have games in hand over us and if they win them, they will leapfrog us. We could potentially drop as low as 4th, which we don't want to happen, and if it does, it cannot be a long time thing that we're 4th. Board and me want promotion.

Next Season's Transfers

These two are coming in - Eastwood's better than our current goalie, and has the potential to be League One quality. Forrester is the same, potentially league one quality, already Vanarama National Quality.

Rough few months but successful nonetheless, picking up points again and again...

It means we're currently sitting top of the league with two games in hand.

April - May 2022 Results

In a very inconsistent season, we managed to finish 2nd, but were also able to get to the Playoff Finals and then go on to win it. We're in League Two next season boys!

Palmer and Mullin are two I desperately want to keep at the club, at-least for now. Transfers will come in the next post, but we've already made a few.

Sky-high potential, he's plenty good enough. I know he's only Vanarama quality right now, but he's not a regular player for us.

His potential isn't quite as high, but he also will be capable for us in a while.

Eastwood is now our mainstay goalkeeper. He's quality, and has the potential to be good for us till league one.

Godsmark-Ford

Quality potential, someone to keep an eye on.

Haysman

Another league one potential player.

Turner

He looks fairly good, with good potential.

League one potential, and looks good too.

Keogh

Solid in defence, should be a rock for us.

Good defender.

Okay, maybe not the best of signings.

We're apparently predicted to finish second. Board is expecting midtable. Lol.

July - September 2022 Results

Decent pre-season, and we've not done too badly in the league, either. Comfortably 4 points away from relegation, we're doing fairly well. Slowly trying to adapt into playing a counter attacking style and I think we're seeing some results. Just need to be more consistent.

Hopefully you don’t end up like a lot of other Wrexham saves that end up with Reynolds selling the club a few years in.

This looks like a particularly worse intake. Huh.

October - December 2022 Results

We've been very inconsistent with many poor performances, and the board has ranged from being happy with me to not being, as if on a dime. We moved to 15th, and look like we might manage to stay roughly there.

I'm guessing I'm going to get sacked. Probably.

Youth Intake

Another golden generation, with someone looking like he's almost ready for the first team early on!

Manley

Already looking like an amazing player for us and definitely someone to look out for.

Dafydd

He's got a while to go, but he's also looking pretty good. Both of them are lacking in determination though.

Vickers

Another high potential player, although he doesn't actually fit into our system currently, which means in youth he may struggle for games even if he improves.

Tranter

Solid goalkeeping stats, he can only improve in the future and he may challenge for the number one spot later down the line. Maybe. Next season I might start him in some cup games. Not all, but some.

Connor

Player that could jump leaps and bounds. Like a lot of the lot, his determination is poor.

Mann

Not entirely impressed here. Fairly good potential but he doesn't look to have good starting attributes. Personality is poor too.

Murphy

Could be developed into a wing back option, and looks to have fairly good potential.

Tactical Change

Only a minor one but it's seen us see greater consistency. We definitely need support in right wing-back though after Kellan Gordon got recalled, and it's coming next season.

January - March 2023 Results

We've seen greater consistency and with 2 months left on the clock, we sit in 13th.

Incoming Transfers next Season

Lewis

Lewis is a great, young and versatile (if we decide to switch to a flat 4/5) Defender, with great attributes all around. He's determined and full of fight, and will be great for us. What's best? He's welsh!

Gordon

Gordon is an absolute steal for us. He's been performing really good until he got recalled for something stupid (out of position but the manager only complained this season despite it being a 2 season loan run.)

Tilley

Tilley is also young and can provide a versatile threat, being usable up at front, and down in midfield.

Linton

Coming in on a free, he is an excellent young player with bags of potential. We have been lacking a fast threat up front and we're hoping that he'll provide a good threat when he occasionally plays, getting playtime when necessary.

Undoubtedly we will sign more players on free from the Premier League's youth, but I will be more selective this time, we don't need to bring in a ton of players. Obviously this assumes I'm kept on, but the board is happy now. They shouldn't let go of me.
