Could someone possibly explain (in idiots terms) how I would create a league that has an Eastern, Central and Western conference/division? Much like the MLS, only without a combined table.

If those are the only divisions at the level you’re wanting, make a parent competition with the name of the league and make three more called East/Central/West and group them under that level.

I think in the advanced rules you can add regional groupings, but you’ll need to set boundaries where one division starts and another finishes.

Brilliant! Thanks. Do I set league rules in the "parent" or "sub" division?

If you’re wanting them all to be the same do it in the parent competition. But say if one division starts a week later the change you make in the child competition overrides the parent date.

You don't need a parent division.

I have some sample files in this thread:

fm22-usa-various-league-structures-nfl-mlb-8x4-6x4-mls16x2-mls15x2-all-with-mls-rules-prorel

- see my MLB League structure sample: 2 leagues with 3 divisions for each league.

This is where I get confused. Basically, I am trying to create League1 Ontario Reserves which consists of 3 "divisions" of 7 teams (no pro/rel) and the teams never change leagues. I have all bar 5 teams (which I need to create) and I have created the 3 separate divisions (Eastern, Central and Western) and put the teams in their appropriate division. But then I get lost. I can't see there being anything to dictate which team goes in which league as, for example, Unionville Milliken gave their 'B' team in Eastern and their 'C' team in Central.

When you’ve got all your teams in the divisions, add those divisions to the nation rules.

And have "League1 Ontario Reserves" as the parent competition? When I view the league in-game, will it show all 3 divisions on the parent competition page, or will it show up as "Eastern"?

Correct, League1 Ontario Reserves becomes the parent competition. You don’t get to see the parent competition (unless you select it in the advanced rules), it’ll show you the first competition listed, in your case Eastern. Central and Western will be able to be viewed by when you’re going through the leagues.

How would I go about having it show all 3 divisions under the same heading (League1 Ontario Reserves)?

Add League1 Ontario Reserves to the nation rules, when it asks you what divisions you want, select your East, Central and West divisions

Basic rules, you shouldn’t need to go into advanced at all.

You’ll lose your advanced rules if you switch back to basic.

Damn! I'm expanding on a file I already have. Is there any way to do it in advanced rules?

Yes you can, add the parent competition below the last competition you’ve got in the advanced rules. You can then set the child competitions in this screen, which are your east, central and west divisions. Then if you want promotions or relegations you set it on each individual division.

So I haven't got to add all the rules in again? Awesome! I'm gonna take a look. No promotion or relegation needed, so that's one less thing to worry about.

@FCUtdWillsorry, one last question. Teams get added to the child competition, don't they?

No, you can add them to your existing rules, you don’t need to add them again.

Thats correct yes, teams get added to the child competitions, the child competitions get added to the parent competitions.
