My Expectations

Sky Bet League One -  I hope we can finish around mid table. 

FA Cup - We are long overdue an away game at one of big 6. 

Carabao Cup - Less important

Papa John's Trophy - not important

We are expected rock bottom, We are punching above our grade all the time.

Clauses

I decided to sell one of our clauses to help the club running.

Due to selling clause our balance looks a lot better now. 

 

Season Ticket numbers are really encouraging

 

The league started but I am still yet to make few transfer moves I hope. Transfer update after windows ends.

Transfer Window

We have released few players who didn't feature much last season, with the likes of David Agbonthoma who has over 100 caps for us and Warren James 55 caps and 25 goals. We have also cashed in on Andy Peters 150K. We got him for free from Chelsea on youth release day so I think it is decent piece of business.

I am quite happy with this window. Most of these are going straight into 1st team.

League One 

A great start to the season! was not expecting that at all. These however are teams expected to finish in lower half of the table.

A quick exit from the cup against Burton,

A draw against Carlisle and then pens ? which we win and then get awarded 2 points?  I guess I don't know the rules well enough.

Only league this month. After great result against Birmingham, we have tumbled down. A month to forget. We dropped to 9th.

A good month in the league. Except Salford we managed to win the rest of the games and pulled up to 5th. 

FA Cup

First round draws us against Cheltenham, We played them last season and our records against them is not encouraging. 

Papa Johns Trophy

With narrow win over Scunthorpe we have qualified for next stages, this is still not important comp to me so I am rotating as much as possible

League One

After not so great start, we managed to win 3 in a row and we are back in playoff place. Really happy with Plymouth result as they are above us. 

FA CUP

Was expecting easier game against Cheltenham, but we managed to squeeze through. Leyton Orient next and head to head looks encouraging. 

Papa John's Trophy

A good result against Everton U23 to win the group, to then lose against Leeds and we are out of the cup.

Finances are still plummeting  although we made a little profit this month.

Really mixed month, with 4 wins out of 8 games we are still narrowly in promotion playoff place, however we played a lot of games against team from top, eg Barnsley and Salford.

We welcome Swansea next, we need a miracle to go through.

Wow, firstly we managed to get to the replay and then win :D:D We are away either to Arsenal or Brighton!

January Transfer Window

Romario Lawrence 

We have got him for free from Tottenham on youth release day, He was decent for Vanarama National and League Two but since then he featured a lot less, he also failed to develop as expected. Suprised that Nottm Forest who are in Championship were willing to pay 400K for him.

 

Emmanuel Longelo - He was sensational for us in lower leagues, but as Romario above was featuring a lot less this season, made tiny tiny profit on the sale.

Except the loans I decided to splash the cash for center mid, since Romario left. 

Tom Fearon, only 23 but already 240 caps for Gillingham, his mentality and physicallity is amazing, a bit weak in technicals but overall I think he is better player then Romario

Almost perfect month, with smashing Burton who are above us 6 to nothing. Having high hopes for the end of the season.

After amazing results agains Swansea we are playign Arsenal away. Bring me the cash.

Lost to Arsenal 4:2 in front of 48k crowds and we only got £100k for it  don't know what happened there with gate income sharing.

Almost perfect month, A win against Sheff Wed I am particularly happy about. We closed the gap to 3 points behind second. Barsnley are running away with it.

No much chances to win there. Just not happy that I didn't get the money that I expected from away game.

Didn't expect the youth facilities are going to cost 650K, despite that our balance is still positive.

A mixed month, We have lost too many points, if not our tripups we would have been 2nd now. With 4 games left we still only 3 points behind, however Plymouth seem to have the easiest calendar going ahead.

Looks like stretching the wage budget to push for promotion has paid off.  I think the toughest part now ahead of us, It will be quite difficult to break through to Premier League.

Season 2028/2029 Review

 

League One 

What a season that was, especially last month! We have benefited massively on the Plymouths trip ups. Not expected the turnout of this season as we have overachieved massively. 

 

FA Cup

We have done exceptionally, we have beat Swansea on the road. A bit disappointment on the away gate money against Arsenal.  

 

Carabao Cup

Was not important to me, but narrow loss against Burton who finished below us hurts.

Sheffield Clubs Watch 

Sheffield Wednesday are staying in League One and Sheffield United have lost the playoffs to the PL so this means that we will will be playing against Sheffield United next season! 

We are catching up with our reputation but the rest of tracked things we are still hugely behind.

Friendlies were ok, maybe except Bristol Rovers game who are in League Two ! 

The odds say that we shouldn't be here. 

Luckly the board doesn't have high expectations. I am hoping that we can safely avoid relegation. 

 

Finances are looking pretty good so far.

Oh wow!, we are on the flyer start of the season ! A result against Luton is so shocking ! Lets keep it up !

We squeezed through two first rounds, was expecting a bit easier games, but we overcame Sheffield Wednesday AGAIN!

We are still on positive in bank.

Championship Wages, you can now see how small we are and how high we are punching up !

Put that into context that, Milwall who are 23rd in the table spend almost 4x more than us on wages.

Fulham who are 1st in the table spend 34x more than us on wages !

Outs 

Not many cash sales. and loans mainly for academy players who are never going to make the first team. 

 

Liam Gibbs - Has been really important player for us in Vanarama National and L2, but last season became a little less important. 75 caps for us is decent. 0 profit.

 

Charlie Caton - He was never really first choice for us, only 29 caps in 2 seasons. signed for free and sold for 95k. 

 

Josh Feeney - Had to cash in on him as he didn't want to sign new contract and was kicking up a fuss. Have been integral part of our defense last season, but he decided he still wants to play in L1  We gave his career a lifeline where before he joined us he didn't have a single senior match.

After good start, we have dropped off form. First 3 games we have lost or drawn narrowly. We then got smashed by Nottm Forest. Hopefully we can turn this around next month! .

I have rotated the team for this game, so result was expected.

Another tough month, again all loses are narrow by 1 goal. A good win against Swansea keeps us middle of the table. We are 6 points above relegation spots, I am aiming at sort of 47-50 point mark that should make us safe this season. I am hoping that we are going to pick up form.

We have turned form around and managed to win 3 in the row. I think the starting 11 is crystallising now. Although Curtis Norman has finished the season with broken leg. He was first choice ST, but highly underperforming this season, without scoring a goal in Championship.

5 point out of 21, ouch. We have managed to draw against Sheffield Utd! We are currently sitting 14th. We are 11 points above relegation places and 9 points below playoffs. We still need about 20 points to avoid relegation.

Finances are slowly deplating, we are before transfer window, I am not planning to sell, but any offer can potentially upset a player.

Championship

Very tough month for us. 4 points out of 15. We are 17th with 34 points and 11 points above relegation. We still probably need another 15-16 points in the last games to survive this season. I think that this is very doable. 

FA CUP

A narrow win against Rotherham gets us up to 4th round, where we will play West Ham away. I suspect that we will drop out after this round.

Finances are still positive. hopefully we can finish the season with some money to spare.

Championship

This month is even worse then the last. biggest worry is that we haven't scored a single goal in last 4 games. I have been playing around with tactics however to try and get the best out of players. Also we have been decimated by suspensions and injuries. 

We are still 17th and we are still 11 points ahead of relegation spots with 12 games left to play.

Expectedly we didn't have a chance. We did get a nice paycheck from gates though.
