[FM22] Where it all began - The Worlds First Football Club - Sheffield F.C.

Hello and welcome to my save,

I have been thinking quite a lot about creating a save which would keep me interested. I tried to find a club with interesting history that would be worthy of creating a topic on here. I also have some unfinished business as my last topic I have finished earlier then planned and without reaching my end goal, due to FM22 coming out.  I plan to play this save until probably FM23 is going to come out. (In hopes that they are going to improve DYR) .

I was also considering doing a youth only save however, last time I tried it didn't go so well so gave up in the end  Also doing it in England would be also more difficult I suppose. Also apologies if this save has been done before  

 

The Club

The club I picked for this save is Sheffield FC which is The Worlds First Football Club. The club has been established in 1857 over 150 years ago !!! In their vast and long history, unfortunately they do not have many honors to their name worth noting and they find themselves in the 8th tier of English football. Since creation they have been going moving their grounds quite a lot and at the moment they are base in Dronfield which is around 7-10 miles away from Sheffield. The club is planning to move back to the city, building a grounds called The Home of Football, which definitely fits the case.

 

Myself at least virtually want to help bring the club glory it deserves for being the first football club. 

 

Career Objectives:

1. Reach Football League

2. Get a new stadium and facilities - preferably in Sheffield. 

3. Reach Premier League

4. Become more reputable club then other clubs from Sheffield (Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday)

5. Win whatever we can. PL preferably, maybe CL if it is possible. 

 

 

 

I have not setup the save yet, but will be doing this in coming days, when I find the right database. Hopefully you will enjoy the read.

Squad by CA 

 

According to Star ratings, both of below are already best players in the club, and both are still quite young. Hope that they will not be poached.

Justin Simon also has 5* potential.

Made few free transfers to improve depth. Loads of games to play. I haven't managed in UK since FM 2016

League

Not too bad start, We sit in 7th so far, but it is better then predicted 16th. 

 

FA Cup

I treat this as less important until we reach like 3rd round where we can hope to play away to big teams, but we are wayyy of that.

A good month, 4 wins out of 5 gets us to promotion playoff places for now.

Couple of wins, I tried to rotate for these.

 

 

Jordan Walshaw has been pretty good this month, scoring 7 goals

League

Only 2 games this month as we had plenty of cup games. we have few games in hand and can potentially advance to whooping 2nd place ! . We have drawn agains Liversedge who seem to be dominant in the legaue.

We managed to squeeze through to first round, and got Charlton from League 1 at home. I guess this will be the end. 

 

Intergro League Cup

We have signed out from this cup pretty quickly. Don't really care, we have plenty of games to play.

Good results get us through to next rounds.

November 2021 

League

Mixed results. We have drawn or lost against the teams from bottom half, however we managed to pull a result against Marske Utd.  At almost half way through the league season we are suprisingly 3rd however there is 2 point gap between 2nd and 6th. Liversedge are pulling away from the pack now.

A shocking result against Charlton gets us to play MK dons in second round. I really doubt that we can pull somehting like tis again,

League

We finish calendar year on a high with 2 wins. Tadcaster loss hurts though as they are right near us in the table.

Lost to MK Dons 2:1 . However it was very even game.

just wish we won against Bridlington, would make the month perfect. With 12 games left we are well in playoff battle. Hebburn and Shildon seem to have dropped the pace.

Despite loss against Stockton we are 13 points clear in playoffs. We are also only 7 points off top now. Can we catch them?

Youth Intake

 

Not too bad first intake. Carl Jackson is already on first team level. Will definitely give him some play time, however I doubt that he will massively improve.

A perfect month. A massive victory against Liversedge gets us only 1 point behind them. So we have 4 games left, looks like Liversedge have got the easiest fixtures as we still need to play 3rd placed team.

After the first game I thought we had no chance of getting promoted. However Liversedge slipped twice ! to allow us to overcome them to top of the table . Happy Happy Happy, just worried that will have to do full rebuild next season.

We have done really well here, we even managed to beat Charlton in first round.

Was going well, however had to rotate and as a result we got beat quite comfortably by St. Albans

Don't know what this cup is about, not important so signed out very quickly.

I think Tom Bell has been sensational. Picked him up for free and he was a crucial player for our team. Just look at his stats, comparing to other players. In 39 games he made a whooping 208 key passes. The next player has only 97. He also had most CCC's created and most assists for the team. absolute beast for our level.

22/23 Pre-Season

Friendlies went very pretty good, we'll see if we can carry this on in the league start.

 

Transfers

So we didn't manage to hold Tom Sams, who was our leading defender. Etia and Burns are just fringe players that needed to go. I brought in some players to give us quality depth, Nothing really to show as most of them can leave at any time...

 

Board Expectations

Board expects us fight against relegation, I am happy with that.

Despite the board wanting us to fight against relegation. the media expects us to finish 6th. 

 

We are in negative balance, however our wage budget great.

Amazing start to the league, we lost against Gainsborough, but had lots of card suspensions and also tried to rotate.

Thanks ! I hope that we can keep it up, however lots of my rotation players are leaving.. So most of these games I was playing very similar starting 11.  Fitness already is starting to be an issue.

League

I can understand draws agains Warrington and Marske as they are mid table, but a draw agains Bamber Bridge is dissapointing. We have also dominated in all of 3 drawn games, just couldn't convert. We dropped to 4th with 3 points gap to top and 5 points in playoffs.    

FA Cup

Wasn't happy to play extra game against Willand, as our schedule is tight already. We are off to Maidstone next in Vanarama.

League

Mixed month. The loses and the draw hurt, especially that they are against the teams in lower half. We still in 3rd place with 4 point off top and 4 points in playoffs. We are also 15 points above relegation which is what we are fighting against this season.

FA Cup

Amazing result against Maidstone who are in Vanarama, In first round we will play anther Vanarama side Southport.

League

Almost perfect month. Wins against FC United and Rylands are important, We also didn't give in to the mid/lower table teams. As a result we go top of the table, with Mickleover a game in hand they can potentially have same points as us. We are 7 points in playoffs, and fair to say we are probably safe in relegation

 

Fa Cup

Narrow win against vanarama Southport and we are away to Oxford which are in League 1. We are also playing away and they get  crowds of around 7k, so it maybe a bit of money into our account.

With win against 5th and draw against 2nd we remain 1st with 6 points gap above 2nd. ! Matlock result could have been better but I am not complaining.

Not a bad month, however Mickleover managed to chase up 2 points as a result of our draw. they are in form as well. Seems like its top3 who will be fighting for the title.

Suprisingly our rotated team got us to the Quater Finals of this not important cup.

Almost perfect month again, the draw against Stalybridge hurts as they were at the 20th at the time, however Mickleover have dropped some points, We are 7 points above second, so we have a nice cushion going into last 8 games of the season.

We have dropped points against 18th and Blyth who are 4th. We however still  have 6 points gap ahead of 2nd. With last 4 games being mainly against mid table teams, I am hoping for some good results.

We have done it ! Mickelover have crumbled under pressure in the end, they have only gained 5 points out of last 4 games. We had perfect month with only one goal conceded.

We advanced to the final of 'Not Important Cup' where we are going to face Blyth who are in the same league as us.
