Why this is awful, frustratingly bad decisions from good to world class players

Recommended Posts

Hi ive come here for help and some input on this tactic i designed i will show how its suposed to work how i want to come out and then share the tactic so you guys can tear it apart .

Its supposed to be a 4-3-3 possesion with intent football im managing world class teams in various saves to test the tactic.

How should it work?

This is how its supposed to look in attacking situations, i know already you guys are going to tell me a iwb does that better than a fb(s) but i got somewhat better results with a fb (s) with cut inside and sit narrow.

It also has some patterns that i got from this thread

This is the tactic. i hope you guys dissect it and give me tips on how to improve this. thanks

Your roles and duties look good. You really don't need that many team instructions on at one time. You're asking your players to do a lot of really contradictory things.

For contrast sake here is my possession with intent tactic. My front 5 are all instructed to close down more. And I use opposition instructions to funnel the opponent to the middle of field where we tackle hard/intercept the ball.

So if I were you I'd keep my player roles and duties and just remove most of the team instructions you've selected except for a few key ones (Like 3-5). Then go from there. Less is really more in this case especially when you play as a top team.

I noticed that you don't use many attacking duties does that help retain Possesion? Even tho they are support they seem agressive enough, I'm used to making counter attacking /gengenpressing tactics so I use a lot of them so maybe I will try some support duties instead?

I use the support duties mainly for defense because I want all of my players helping with defense. I'm also trying to open up the game for my IF-att because I believe he is my best goal scorer. Also I do sometimes add attack duties if I need to score a goal or if I have space behind the defense. Sometimes I make my WB-su a WB-att. Or I'll make my DLF a PF-at or DLF-at. It depends on who I pick to play, how we are playing, and how the other team plays . I have a previous version of this tactic which had 3 attack duties where I was trying to open up space for a central midfielder to score goals.

I really don't think you have too many attack duties though. In fact, I think your roles and duties look great and I wouldn't change them. If I were you I would keep the positive mentality, remove all of the in possession instructions except for play out of defense, shorter passing, and low crosses and remove all of your out of possession instructions except for higher defensive line, higher line of engagement, and 1 or 2 ticks up on the pressing. Less is more. You don't need all of those instructions.
