I cannot verify or test my file, even using xml verf removal

My head is about to explode so if anyone can prevent that from happening please feel free to intervene!

I have searched google and these forums but I still cannot get my edited file to work within the game.

I created 80s style competitions. I used import and export throughout my regular saving of my work.

Until now the only issues I have come across are the fixture and discipline rules not saving due to bug in editor.

The game will not recognise my file (screenshot 1). I have tried to bypass the verification by removing line 2 in the xml file (screenshot 2) but still no joy. I cannot test the file in the editor as I get the message in screenshot 3. Please, is there anything I can do to get my file to work?

Hi thanks for the replies. Believe it or not I did follow those instructions in your link. I deleted the section in the xml and saved. I can't have done it right. Just to clarify. When I save that xml I then save my file by exporting? Then load the new file by importing and then carry on editing? I can't have done that bit correctly.

I spent the last 3 days creating this LOL. Is the only way to get to the point I'm at now of having the file finished is by repeating everything I have done?

Did you say you deleted the <list id="verf"/> bit? You're not supposed to delete that part, you're supposed to delete the part below it, not just 1 line either the entire <record id="rule_group"> section. It probably goes down to around line 290. You can quickly see the end by minimising the section to see the line number for the next section. The end should be </record>. Delete both the start and end lines for that rule group record and everything in between.

You're doing the export/import correctly. You shouldn't need to repeat everything, just export your current file and delete that section and it should be fine. You just need to remove every reference to Serbia basically, while that's left in there you won't be able to verify continental rules.

Thanks @rusty217. Yes I had messed up at the start with the xml. I thought I had saved the changes but clearly hadn't. I have just removed the nation rules, and the xml looks correct now. :)

However...the Test Rules is greyed out so I cannot verify the file even if I convert it to fmf. So I removed the <list id="verf"/> part of the xml file, and that has by-passed the verification process, so I could use it in my game. I'll have to test my file by holidaying the save and pick up issues that way.

At least I have it working. Thankyou for your help.
