THE YELLOW WALL

PRE-SEASON 2021/22

THE SQUAD

Goalkeepers

spacer.png

There is not much difference between those three Swiss keepers, but I will go with Kobel as he is the youngest with the most potential of the bunch. One of them will have to leave after this season.

Defense

spacer.png

We could definitely need some improvement here. Hummels is getting older and there is not much coming through after him. Ok, Guerreiro is a good left back when played there. Zagadou could develop well but we will have to see about that. Some of those players will have to leave after the season as well, such as Schulz, Wolf & Passlack

Midfield

spacer.png

This is where we have to most potential. A lot of young talents who could develop into real good players in the future. Reus (listed below under "Attack") is our best man here. Witsel brings experience for the youngsters to learn from. A good mentor for them for sure. Tigges though looks he is not quite up the standard of the others but he will get a chance to prove me wrong.

Attack

spacer.png

Haaland is our star man of course but Malen ain´t too bad either. Reus will mostly play on the wings, not in attack.

Star Player

spacer.png

Who else could it be? Let´s just hope we can hold on to him for a long time.

TACTICS

spacer.png

Using THIS download tactic this time.

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES

spacer.png

We started with a cringeworthy draw against lowly Lotte but then things got better every game and in the end we were even able to trash the once so great Barcelona team 3-0!

Let´s get the season started!

THE YELLOW WALL

SEASON 2021/22

BUNDESLIGA

spacer.png

spacer.png

We go the league season unbeaten, mostly thanks to our attack power, namely Erling Haaland, who broke Lewandowskis Bundesliga season goal record by one goal. Bayern kept our pace until february, then they eventually dropped back. The draws were against Bayern (a), Stuttgart (a), M´Gladbach (h), Hoffenheim (a) and relegated Bielefeld (a). Hertha survived and stayed in the top tier after defeating Hamburg.

League results:

Spoiler

spacer.png

spacer.png

DFB POKAL

spacer.png

It was quite a surprise to go out that early against the underdogs Koln, who went on to win the damn cup against Frankfurt.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

spacer.png

spacer.png

We topped a rather easy group, with Malmo surprising everyone by finishing 2nd. They even beat us 4-3. Their run was ended in the 1st knockout round though when Inter trashed them 9-0 at home. We managed to do a bit better and reached the semi finals, beating big Liverpool FC on the way, thanks to a world class performance by our goalkeeper Kobel. I think I have never seen a keeper get a 10.0 rating. Then, in the semi finals, Inter who were too strong for Malmo were also too strong for us. They went on to lose the final to Manchester United though.

spacer.png

YOUTH

spacer.png

Our Dortmund II reserve team managed to finish 3rd in the 3. Liga, but rules say that reserve teams will not get promoted so they stay in tier 3.

spacer.png

spacer.png

Our Dortmund U19 team won the Western Conference title and qualified for the playoffs, where they went on to reach the final and lose to Werder Bremen U19.

spacer.png

The youth intake looked ok this season. But I am sure we can still do much better in that regard.

SEASON STATS

spacer.png

Zagadou being better than Hummels was a pleasant surprise. 22 assists by Guerreiro is no small feat either. if you just look at the figures, Jude Bellingham & Marco Reus must also be mentioned. Donyell Malen actually did a great job when playing in attack, scoring 15 goals. And there is of course our best player Erling Haaland.

THE YELLOW WALL

PRE-SEASON 2022/23

TRANSFERS

spacer.png

Akanji left but we had Zagadou so we gladly took the money. Tigges was never good enough to be near a first team place, same as Wolf. Passlack actually wasn´t that bad but in the end he wanted to leave and started complaining about getting too few playing time so we shipped him. Moukoko & Collins got some hopefully progressive loan deals at Bundesliga 2 teams.

spacer.png

Timber will be our new right back, a great talent. Sosa is incredible when it comes to crossing although he might lack a bit in the LB traits but he will get his chances anyway. Umtiti was available, he is a nice backup for central defense, as are Johnstone in goal and Diawara & Loftus-Cheek in midfield. Ali Reynah was recommended by our scouts and the 17 year old Syrian international looks a great talent. Speaking of talents... We have to face reality and that is that Haaland will leave when his contract runs out in 2024. So we had to look for a successor and found the obvious one: Karim Adeyemi. He comes at a cheap price and provides us with safety for the future in our attack as he can also play on the wings.

THE SQUAD

Goalkeepers

spacer.png

Kobel had a great first season for us and he deserves the number one spot. Johnstone will rival Hitz for the place on the bench.

Defense

spacer.png

Experience is key here with Hummels, Umtiti & Can providing tons of it. Timber & Sosa can grow as full backs with the guidance of them. Same goes for Zagadou.

Midfield

spacer.png

Lots of talent here again. But also lots of backup players. I wonder how we will cope with an injury crisis of key players here.

Attack

spacer.png

I wonder how the pair Haaland-Adeyemi will work out.

Star Player

spacer.png

2 seasons left at our club.

TACTICS

THE YELLOW WALL

SEASON 2022/23

BUNDESLIGA

spacer.png

spacer.png

We are not invincible anymore. 4 defeats in the league, but still managed to win it by a good margin. RB Leipzig finished ahead of Bayern, resulting in the sacking of Julian Nagelsmann. Erling Haaland lead the scoring charts again and improved his own league record. Reus & Guerreiro lead the assist charts.

League results:

Spoiler

spacer.png

spacer.png

DFB POKAL

spacer.png

We just seem to dislike this competiton. Again an early exit.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

spacer.png

spacer.png

We don´t complain: We finished our group ahead of Manchester City and made it to the semi finals where we had no chance against a strong Liverpool who went on to defeat Bayern in the final.

YOUTH

spacer.png

Our U19 team wins the German Youth Championship!

spacer.png

Tomala looks a fair prospect but all in all a rather weak intake this year.

SEASON STATS

spacer.png

Of the new signings Timber & Adeyemi showed good, consistent performances. Sosa, Umtiti, RLC & Diawara did what we signed them for as good backups. Academy product Knauff got some games too. In the end it was again Haaland who ran the show, with Reus, Adeyemi & Reyna assisting him. Hazard & Brandt will have to do more next season.

WORLD CUP 2022

spacer.png

England defeat surprise team Senegal in the final. A disappointing world cup again for Germany.

Haaland is a beast. Next year the Champions League could be yours, if you can keep Haaland.

And what a beast he is :) Next year will be his last year at Dortmund, so we gotta do it by then!

THE YELLOW WALL

PRE-SEASON 2023/24

TRANSFERS

spacer.png

Bayern came for our 2nd best player Guerreiro and snapped him up on a free as his contract ran out. Hitz & Morey had to go too but that does not hurt us. The rest are loans for the youngsters.

spacer.png

Demir is our most important signing for this season. He will be our new playmaker as Reus will play his last season for us. Barco is a great LB talent but will be loaned out this season. Guendouzi & Martial join from EPL clubs and I have high hopes for them. Casilla will be our 3rd keeper.

THE SQUAD

Goalkeepers

spacer.png

Nothing new here. Kobel established himself as our number one. Johnstone will be his  backup and Casilla will be his backup.

Defense

spacer.png

This will be Hummels´ last season, but Zagadou already showed he can walk in his footsteps. Timber is developing great too.

Midfield

spacer.png

Demir will have to step up and take the vital role of playmaker. Guendouzi should be able to contribute as well alongside Bellingham. Hazard & RLC will have to deliver otherwise they will be out.

Attack

spacer.png

Martial is a big name but he will have to step back behind Haaland. Adeyemi had a fantastic first season for us.

Star Player

spacer.png

His last season for us.

TACTICS

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES

spacer.png

Trashing Bayern 5-1 in the Supercup is no small feat. Let´s start the season!

NEWS

spacer.png

Look who is back at Bayern! Nagelsmann left for Tottenham so big ol´Pep thought he´d make a comeback in the Bundesliga.

THE YELLOW WALL

SEASON 2023/24

BUNDESLIGA

spacer.png

spacer.png

5 defeats in a season, a new record for us. At least our main striker is still the same. But he will be gone next season. Also Reus leads the assist charts once more before he retires.

League results:

Spoiler

spacer.png

spacer.png

DFB POKAL

spacer.png

Finally! Finally we won the domestic cup! And we did it in style by beating our old rivals. After penalties. And even RLC scored.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

spacer.png

spacer.png

We didn´t look like qualifying after the 1st 2 games. But then we took it more seriously and made it to the knockout stages. Sadly, we met PSG there and went out.

YOUTH

spacer.png

Our Dortmund II team finishes fourth in the 3. Liga.

spacer.png

Our U19 team wins the Western Conference again...

spacer.png

...only to lose the Championship final again, this time against Bayer Leverkusen U19.

spacer.png

Goralski looks a fair prospect but all in all not the best intake this year.

SEASON STATS

spacer.png

It was Erling Haaland´s last season for us and he gave it all once more. 73 goals speak volumes. It´s gonna be exciting who will succeed him at Dortmund. Mats Hummels & Marco Reus will also retire after this season, they were also great servants of the club. They will all be greatly missed. The team will look quite differently next year.

EURO 2024

spacer.png

England reach the final and lose to Portugal. Germany go out in the second round. Sounds familiar.

THE YELLOW WALL

PRE-SEASON 2023/24

TRANSFERS

spacer.png

spacer.png

Erling Haaland has left the building. And of course its PSG who snap him up! Quite some names among the departures here. I was reluctant to let David Raum go, but there wasnt much to do against Inter´s bid. Diawara, Martial & Sosa all already left in the January transfer window. Especially Martial was a big disappointment, not even scoring one goal for us.

spacer.png

We spent a record 106M on new central defender Pau Torres from Valencia, but we had to make up for Hummels´retirement. We also splash out a massive 52M for left back talent Luca Netz from MGladbach. Winger Tsygankov will provide more options on our wings. Guindo is another central defender, while Halstenberg, Acuna & Florenzi are experienced backups for our LBs and RBs. Sensi comes in to cover the central midfield. Kapino will be our 3rd keeper. The rest are young talents who need to develop first.

THE SQUAD

Goalkeepers

spacer.png

Same old story here. Kobel stays our number one. Johnstone will be his  backup and Kapino will be his backup.

Defense

spacer.png

Good to see the young players step up. We have a new leader here in Pau Torres but youngsters like Timber, Netz & Collins will take over now.

Midfield

spacer.png

No big changes here. Demir controls our midfield with Reyna & Adeyemi on his wings backed by Bellingham and either Sensi, Guendouzi or Dahoud.

Attack

spacer.png

The big man is gone. Moukoko should be his designated successor.

Star Player

spacer.png

The poster boy of a new Borussia Dortmund generation. Hopefully.

TACTICS

Such a shame Haaland left the building with a free transfer.

Indeed. But there was never a chance of retaining him at all, he made it clear from the start that when his contract runs out he will be leaving for a bigger club :(

Probably needed to win the Champions League a few times to see if he’d sign a new contract.

Hopefully someone else steps up with the crazy goal numbers :D

We are a long way still from winning the CL :) I hope Moukoko can do that...

Never thought to cash in on him?

Never. His goals proved too precious.
