Eddie Howe fired after only 2 months in charge

Newcastles director, Amanda Staveley announced that Eddie Howe had left his position as manager of Newcastle United, after a burst up regarding January signings. Staveley was adamant that a replacement was already lined up.

A source close to Newcastle United has told Al Jazeera that the disagreement between Howe and the Newcastle board was centered around Howes wish to bring in Steve Cook and Harry Arter to help get his ideas across to the Newcastle players, after a troublesome two months in charge. Howe was willing to walk away from the job if he did not get to sign the players he thought were the right ones.

Howes resolve did not get tested, since the Newcastle board apparently did not appreciate Howes lack of ambition and it has been reported that Mohammad bin Salam himself demanded that Howe was let go, a sign of a hands on approach from the prince himself when it comes to footballing matters.

There is little information floating around with regards to who will take charge of Newcastle, but it seems that Newcastle are keen on signing a bigger name than Eddie Howe, to be able to attract bigger name signings in January.

Will Zinedine Zidane finally move to the Premier League?

It is abundantly clear that Staveley and co. will have to get this next appointment spot on, to avoid the drop to the Championship. As it stands, Newcastle are, together with five other clubs, lurking around the relegation spots.

Howe: I had to convince King Salam bin Abdulaziz to land Newcastle job

Howes and Staveleys relationship has taken a turn for the worse and things could get ugly

Eddie Howe was fired only 18 hours ago, but has not waisted any time in revealing Newcastle United and Saudi Arabias dirty laundry. In an interview with Chronicle Live he admitted to having met King Salam bin Abdulaziz prior to him being appointed as manager of Newcastle United FC, and therefore confirming that the acquisition of Newcastle United by PIF was in fact made by Saudi Arabia.

The Premier League have previously sent out a statement where they reassured people that Saudi Arabia would not control Newcastle United, and that there were no evidence to support that Saudi Arabia were using the Newcastle United and Premier League brands to clean their name of lingering human rights issues and violations. Human rights activists have already criticized the Premier League that they allowed the takeover to take place, and this interview by Howe will most definitely set fire to those criticisms again.

The Chronicle has spoken to some Newcastle United fans and it seems to be quite a bit of unrest with regards to the clubs future. Could Newcastle United be hit with a transfer ban, until the takeover has been investigated further? That would most definitely mean relegation for the Toon Army.

The question that is on everybody's lips in Newcastle at the moment, is who would want to take over the Newcastle job when sportswashing, human rights violations and a grim relegation battle are the obstacles that await from the start.
