Why's the board so stingy with your contract?

Recommended Posts

Giving 4k a week for a bench player? 7k for a first team player? no problem, me? 1.3k. take it or leave it, and there's no negotiating, also why is an lower length making them offer lower wages? I don't get it, if you want a year contract prepare for about 20%-40% lower wages.

I was managing spurs and won two FA cups, league cup and champions league in 2 years. In real life they’d be putting statues of me up. I ended up leaving as the board refused to increase my £63k a week contract by even £1k. Seemed ridiculous they’d let the best manager they’ve ever had walk away over a grand.

People always argue "what does it matter what they pay you, you can't SPEND that money" (which of course I've always believed if my salary permits it, I should be able to pursue coaching badges whether or not the board thinks they can spare me.) I've always played as someone who WANTS to be fairly paid for my efforts and results and I should be worth at least as much as a squad player. And when contract time comes around, the team shouldn't "enter negotiations" and then refuse to even consider a raise or additional length of contract. And if the team demands signing players to at least a two year contract as first-teamers, but won't consider giving ME a two year contract, I think something's inherently broken in the game.

Okay, here's an example - got my created club leading the Vanarama South, life is good, in comes a couple Premier League teams offering an interview (I know I'm not going to get the jobs, but you still take the interviews, right?)  Right after, the board comes in with a new contract offer $775/week for two years, which would be a fair and equitable contract EXCEPT I was currently making $875/week. To keep me, they were offering to cut my salary $100/week. Of course I TRIED to negotiate it up to $900/week, but they cut it right back to $775 and wouldn't budge. So, walk away...(Didn't get either of the Premier League jobs, one went to a newgen with no coaching history, the other to their U-23 head coach.)

This has been a bone of contention for many years- possibly a bit better now, but still not realistic.

Indeed.

Would it be best to post about this in the 'feature request' or 'bug fixes' section?

Welp, I've left the club since my contract expired and didn't get a realistic enough deal (come tf on, 2.5K?), and after I've left they bought this guy on these wage, what in the actual f??!?

He's earning 25.2 times more then I've been offered (and the current manager is on).

I've reported the manager wages today and hope it'll be fixed some day...

Edit: seems to not just be this guy lmao, there's like 5 more mediocre players on 50k+ a week.... but they instantly stormed out when I asked for 7k...
