Supermercado99
Does anyone have a database with a competition (preferably eight teams) that has losing first round teams go into their own semi final/final bracket? I don't want to create a second competition to qualify them for, just to have them play out consolation games that don't count in the history or have them win anything. I haven't been able to get this working and was hoping somebody might have a system that I can copy.
samba23
There's an option for "next round for winning/losing team" on each round of a cup competition. Quarter finals would be round 0. Set the winners of each tie to go to round 2 and the losers of each tie to go to round 1. Have rounds 1 & 2 both be 4-team rounds. You could also do the same for the semi final (and losing teams semi final) to have 3rd/5th/7th place playoff games.

Only issue I'm finding is that teams in the loser bracket are shown as having byes in the winner side but this is cosmetic. I had been trying to do it with stages, never thought to have extra rounds. themodelcitizen
Can be done with stages as well, just a bit more unwieldy (and the rounds/tree view might be slightly different, although it sounds like you want that). With "fate actions" you can dictate which stages the winning and losing teams go to. Remember this will throw off ranking levels too, you'll have to adjust those to how you want them
Supermercado99
Another issue I've got. Not a major one, but a bit annoying for aesthetics - the teams that make the qualifying round (e.g. the bottom eight seeds) and the subsequent loser bracket minor semi/minor final don't show as playing in their team schedules. For instance, this is the qualifying round (complete with Manchester City randomly being replaced in the next round with a team that should be here, but I'm working on that). The teams from unloaded leagues don't have anything on their schedule. I tried adding the leagues under 'required teams' in the nation rules with no help. I can live with this, however Forge FC/Manchester City/Sundowns - as examples - don't show these games in their fixture list even when I have Canada and England loaded. However, Lincoln (GIB) vs Melbourne City one does show in both when I have both Gibraltar and Australia loaded, so the issue seems to be with the teams from the 'ghost' leagues. I thought adding the league to "required teams" and/or ticking "import qualified teams before competition setup" would help, but no. Note, Manchester City's game in the above list doesn't show, but their subsequent matches against FM database teams do: But none of Forge's do - and they played a league game on 04/07 at the same time they were playing the wonderfully named Star Mountain - a fixture which crashed the game when I tried to click to see the teams. Any ideas on fixing this? It's a minor thing but I hate not knowing how to solve an editor riddle. My international version of this tournament, with the exact same structure, works perfectly so I know it's to do with the non-database league teams. UPDATE - Might be something to do with the Qualifying Round. I botched the seedings and a minor team went straight to the Quarter FInal (where the top four seeds are supposed to meet the four QR winners) and they have their fixture shown properly. This time when I clicked on the competition itself I got a crash to desktop. NFI what's going on. UPDATE 2 - There was another issue with teams playing in leagues at the same time as this competition. Despite setting fixture priority as highest, teams from Canada, Singapore and Malaysia still played league games on the same day as the tournament games - and the results of those games showed in the social feed for tournament games rather than the actual results in the competition - which is a new one. I took these teams out of the team pool, restricted entrants only to leagues playing the European calendar and it works properly.
