Nea Salamis Famagusta FC or Nea Salamina Famagusta FC (Greek: Νέα Σαλαμίνα Αμμοχώστου) is a professional football club based in Ammochostos (also known by its romanized name, Famagusta), Cyprus. Playing in European competition for the first time in 1990, Nea Salamina was defeated in the first round by Aberdeen FC. The team played in the Intertoto Cup in 1995 and 1997. In the 2000 UEFA Intertoto Cup, the team qualified for the second round, with two victories against the Albanian KS Vllaznia Shkodër, but were eliminated in Vienna by Austria Wien, 3–0.

Well most times i won't make the change but this time i think we can achieve our new goal and our new budget  will help us in future transfers.

We made our first defeat for the league but still we are first with a good difference.Again we played a friendly tournament in international brake.Also some of our older,  key players who have 6 months left in their contracts have already spoke with other clubs and 2 of them have allready agreed for a new contract away from here,no problem though because for the first divison we are going to need a totally new and better team.

Well, we didn't wanted any player to reach our goals for this season but these too were available now and will stay here next season too.Especially from Minala i expect much for next season too,he could be our leader in midfield area.

With our promotion secured Michalis Konstantinou and his staff start building the squad for the next season.Some well almost every player we have now isn't in our planes for next season and that's why we sold some of them(the others have allready agreed with other clubs in the end of the season).Felipe departure was a bigg loss but we had to make room for Minala(squad registration  rules).

His squad react after Felipe's departure Michalis knows how to calm people.

P.S We almost complete our roster for next season with players who had 6 months left on their contracts,but that's for next season updates.

M.Konstantinou team keeps "crazying" everyone in Cyprus!Excellent and mature appereances and just 1 point behind first placed Pafos!!Again we played friendly games in international brakes,against Cypriot clubs this time.

Game against APOEL was very important.

First APOEL missed a penalty in 79th minute and...

we scored after 2 minutes witrh a beautifull goal from "crazy" Lazaros!

JANUARY/FEBRUARY-The end of regular season:keep dreaming...

EXPECTATIONS CHANGE

Even though we are far away from relegation battle ,i didn' t change our season goals.

Bouzoukis was free agent and he is a great greek talent with potential.

Anothosis manager decide to call back our left back(Ioannou) for his reasons.So...His replacement,  Leonardo is a great and experienced Greek international who could make a real difference for us.He was free agent for months now and finally he dropped his wage demands and came to our family.

LEAGUE TABLE & RESULTS(End of Regullar Season)

As @SixPointersaid our defense works amazing and we finish most games with clean sheets. In both months Michalis Konstantinou team was amazing and lost only against Olympiakos Nicosia (our players were exhausted from all these games + some cup games) and against first placed and with huge budget for Cypriot league levels, Apollon.Koutris and Bouzoukis allready took playing minutes on their legs and they are ready to help us.We finished regullar season in 2nd place,only 2 points behind Apollon Limassol.Of course we quilified for champions group.

HIGHLIGHTS

A beautifull goal from Nastos and a piece of art assist from Athanasakopoulos.

''New" league

These are the 2 "new" leagues after the split.

We played our first game for championship group just before february leaved us against Pafos.We weren't near to our standards and dropped points,it was a fair result.

We are in qrt final and now we face our opponents in two games.In first one Michalis Konstantinou used his "good" start Xi and took a very good score,in the revans game with huge rotation his players clinched qualification to semis.

Draw brought us Ethnikos Achnas who plays in second division.We MUST reach final!

Crazy Lazaros is a bench player but he scored some crucial goals and gave some very important assists for us in these two months.

MARCH/APRIL 2023-Great but not perfect...

Deeper in champions group for Michalis and his team and the resultS are very good.Another defeat from Appolon(3rd in season) and a draw against AE Limassol.We secured(of course) 2nd place and we are 2nd,4 points behind Appolon(2 games left).Also we played a friendly game in (March's) international brake.

They aren't (much) better but somehow the find the way to win us,propably their experience speaks until now.

GAME 2

Finally the win against them came in the second game (against them) for champions group.This time Michalis used more and better our opponents data hub and our analyst report for them.Most assist against them came from their left side(right for us) and they conceded most of their goals in the space of 61'-75'.

As you can see we hit them in their left side in 63rd minute(i changed our mentality to attack, order my players to play more from our right wing and gave them the order(from  shout out) to attack more after the 60th minute. This win (propably) isn't enough to give us league title but could be a driver for the future.

MAY 2023-The first one...

With 2 games left Kontantinou and his players hadn't real hopes for league title,any hopes they had finished in game against Omonoia.We were very tired and it was a deserved defeat,only one good chance to score in the end of the first half.As for the last game and this heavy defeat (in front of our fans) from AE limassol,Michalis decide to make huge rotation and give playing time to our bench players.Of course it doesn't mean that we should lose with this score,no excuses here.

This was the last game for Aloneftis and Christodoulopoulos (they will retire in the end of the season).

SEASON 2022/2023 REVIEW

CYTA CHAMPIONSHIP

Amazing first season in first division for Michalis Konstantinou and his team.We secured easily 2nd place and gave our fight for the miracle of first place(i must remind you that we were 4th favourite to relegate.So, Apollon Limassol willl play in CL,Nea Salamina,Omonoia and Pafos in ECL.Olymp.Nicosia,Aris and Othellos relegated.

COCA COLA CUP

And as you allready know we are cup winners.From tremendous game and penalty shout out win against Anorthosis to easy wins against Karmiotisa and Ethnikos Achnas.In the final we won league champions and best team in Cyprus right now,Apollon Limassol.

U19s

Another very good season for our kids.Apoel was the best team here, for another year.

THE TRANSFERS

From last summer arrivals,Mitoglou was just amazing.Katelaris was a key player too.Very good work from Andre and Athanasakopoulos too..Koutris came in late January and he is allready between our best signs.

Lendric and Golobart were key players for us in second division.

As for the loans out i expected more from Sotiriou but at least he took some playing time to Ethnikos Achnas.

STATHIS ALONEFTIS

A great player for this nation retired.He helped us both in and out of the field and  was amazing(especially in second division).He will be our new U19s manager.

LAZAROS CHRISTODOULOPOULOS

What a career!The only player who played  in 4 major clubs of Greece(Olympiakos, Panathinaikos,Aek Athens and Paok).Also he had a respective career  in Italy.Crazy Lazaros came and  played with us ffor just one season but he scored some very important goals.His demands to stay as staff member are very high for us (right now).

MANAGER

INTEREST AND INTERVIEW

After this amazing season Michalis attract interest from many clubs(most from Italy).He spoke with Monza because he really wanted to meet Silvio Berluskoni but his desire is to stay here.

21/36 in league..

4/7 for the cup.

As for european football i don't know mate,our coefficients are in zero levels so the draw will be tough.Will see.

Of course our board expectations are much higher this season.

Michalis was happy with his squad and didn't want many changes.Tsiftis and Psychas were un-happy with their playing time and loaned out.Gavriilidis is our first regen who bought us some money,as he made the next step and joined Greek club Aris fc.

IN

Koutsias came to replace Psychas and could stole start Xi place from Pontikou.

Another Cypriot international signed for us.He came to replace Aloneftis and Atanasakopoulos place is on real danger.

And another favourite player for me.He is old but has huge experienced from top level and played 22! times in Australia last season.He will be Michalis 4th option for center back area.

Since our 2nd and 3rd choice in Goalkeepers left us this summer we had to sign a back up for Panagiotou. Andreas will be him.

Propably we need something better in attack but we should give playing time to Sotiriou before we judge him.Also Konstantinou decide to give Kostis  more playing time this season too and that's why we signed Avraam.

Only 4 weeks before our first official(europe) game.In first 2 we worked on our physical attributes and the other 2 on our tactical piece.As for friendly games we had some good results against strong opponents.

EUROPEAN NIGHTS

UEFA EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE

A very difficult draw.They finished 3rd in Sweden and are 201st in european coefficients.

GAME 1

First european game(as manager) for Michalis Konstantinou!

And it was succesfull!They understimate us and paid for it.Great start!

GAME 2

As Michalis expected,nothing has finished from game one.They were much better and opened the score,we made it 1-1 with a great shot from Papoulis but we couldn't hold,game went to extra time and penalty shoot out. There their experienced spoke.Mitoglou and Pavlides lost their penalties,they lost only one and we are out.Michalis is disappointed but he knew that it was a normal result.We took 500.000 euros as total money prize and ... see you next year.

We smashed tired from european games Apollon Limassol for supercup. Also we played another friendly game(against our U19s) before our first league game.

We start very good in league with 5 wins and 1 draw away against Ael.In last two games we dropped stupidly points.In game against Doxa after our 2-0 lead i made 3-4 subs and we paid it and in last game against Ermis we couldn't put it in the net.Omonoia looks stronger this season and Apollon will drop more points between european games. Also we played some friendly games in international brakes.

A beautiful goal against Omonoia from Georgiou.

In our first 2 league games(and in our european games against Hamarby) we had big defensive problems who didn't cost us(in league).Our new central midfield duo(Minala-Bouzoukis) didn't gave us defensive security,so i turned back to our successful last season one(Minala-Natsos) and we start playing much beter(and much safer).Some times correct balance makes the difference.

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2023-Can't score?You losing ground...

LEAGUE TABLE & RESULTS

Michalis Konstantinou team had a very good November and a great start in December with a big away win against last year champions Apollon Limassol, and then.... his  players forget how to score...He tried everything but nothing changed.Three 0-0 draws and 7 points behind first placed Omonoia. This awful seri finished with a difficult win against Karmiotisa. Papoulis is injured and both  Sotiriou and Koutsias who tried to replace him failed, so we are looking for a Target man at winter's transfer window.. Also we played a friendly game in international brake and now we have christmas brake(1 week).

At least we are unbeaten and legendary Cannavaro had some good words to say.

The game firstly  postponed  because we had many players out in international duty.

And after 2 weeks we made a great appearance. With 10 men from 44th minute we scored twice and send Anothosis back home with empty hands.

A good draw for qrt final.

4th place for Cyprus.2 wins against Andorra and 3 draws against Iceland(twice) and Romania.

Kostenoglou is still in his place.

REST OF QUILIFIERS

Some shocked eliminations here. Kosovo left out Croatia! Greece left out Denmark,Scotland beat Chech Republic in second place fight and Israel left out Russia.Very good tournament for Luxembourg and some  improvement for Estonia.

JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2024-The end of regular season,2nd but far away from last season standards...

2 very strong moves to help our attack.Of course they need playing time, especially Gori who came very late.

And his is top deadline sign.

2 mixed months. From embarrassing 1-5 from Omonoia(i forget in bench our best defender Mitoglou ) to a quite good run from mid January until first weeks of Frebruary. Anyway we finished regular season in 2nd place but with 10 points less from last season. I don't want to use it as excuse but we played many games in small space and we had many injuries.

AFTER THE SPLIT

Of course M.Konstantinou doesn't have any hopes for league title. Our goals now are to secure 2nd place (and european ticket) and cup title.

Last year league champions Apollon will play in relegation  group!

With a much needed rotation we couldn't win Karmiotisa in our home.

Our "good'' XI in game 2 and we are in qrt final.

An opponent who make every game against them very difficult for us for the semis .

MARCH/APRIL 2024-Good but not enough...

With a great seri Michalis Konstantinou boys secured 2nd place and ECL.

Omonoia crowned champions.They were the best and the most stable team this year.
