I think only Xaw and me are doing it with youth only, it is a suicide mission with or without youth only. You can do what you like.

First seasons are idd a nightmare because you don't have a lot of homegrown players . you have to wait till you get some youth in and they are only homegrown after one or two seasons (make sure you create a homegrown view in your squad so you can monitor everything.

As you might know, I'm not doing it as youth-only, and I've still enjoyed myself immensely. But yeah, being able to bring players in made those first seasons much easier.

As for the 5th tier thing, my preference, on any version of FM, is to use the 'out of the box' leagues but I'm really not too bothered. If you start in a created league and put the effort to make Cape Verde a world force I don't think that invalidates the achievement at all!

Preview

Again a very good intake with a good goalkeeper prospect , a good DL and again a very good DC. and don't know how we will use him but also a good AMC. Second best average wise but the best intake Determination wise.

 

  
 

Varela 36G is a very good DC prospect and our best CA player from this class. Monteiro 36F is a very good GK prospect. Gonçalves 36D our future DL and Barbosa 36C a very good AMC prospect, i'll try to put him in the B2B role.

Africanos Bragança - Portugal - Season 14 (2035/2036) Review - 1st tier - Liga Portugal BWIN

Squad| Youth Intake 36 | Transfers | Finances| Fixtures 1 | Fixtures 2

Liga Portugal BWIN:  What a season ! After finishing 6th and 5th in last two seasons, we finish in the top 3 and above Portugese giants Porto . Nascimento 33M had a great season and became for the second time topscorer of the BWIN.  Monteiro 33N gave the most asssits in the league.

 

We have to advance in two qualifying round, if we lose in one of them, we have Europa League group stage !

Taça de Portugal: We lost in the fourth round this time.

Taça De Liga - Allianz Cup: We lost in the third phase.

Europe: We did a very good job winning our ECL group above Kobenhavn. In the second knockout we beated Reid from Austria . In the Quarter Final, Leicester City was to strong.

U23:  Finished last but no relegation.

U19: Our U19 finished 2nd in the 1st tier and won the championship playoffs for the first time.

Some new faces in this list: Nascimento 33M is our best forward , Sanches 35A our new defensive star and Lopes 30F had again a great season but he'll get competition next season from a new young GK.

Miscellaneous & Finances

Finances improved again after getting a lot of money from the Conference League but we used most of it for Training and Youth facilities upgrades.

Nascimento 33m and Lopes 32i were again number one and two in the new wonderkid list ! But they still don't have the wonderkid tag . Monteiro 33N is the first wonderkid in our squad !

Aim for next season

Next season I would like to finish in the top 5 again, the season after that I want to take a step towards top 2. I expect another quality injection by promoting a young GK , DL and AMC (from last intake). I can still keep any talent for now, although there is now serious interest from teams in Italy and England.

Start of 2028/29 Season

Not had much time to play but my interest in this save remains very much alive. Well, the leap in difficulty was definitely significant and we've been given quite a few hidings from the established Primeira Liga big boys. All in all though we're holding our own at this level as there are some very weak teams here also. It's going to be incredibly tight and another big injury or two could make a difference in a tight league, but I'm more hopeful than not that relegation can be avoided.

The cup curse continues, we didn't even play badly but still somehow conceded three and dropped out after an incredibly protracted shootout. In better news, we still love a late goal.

Not too many drastic changes to the squad this summer, and so Miguel remains our key goal threat. He's keeping us in it at the moment. Try as I might, the youth products are still pretty wretched when given an opportunity to play.

2029 Youth Intake

It seems ages since I posted one of these (mostly because it is), but the story remains the same. Are some of these players better than my existing youth products? Sure. Are they anywhere near good enough to play top-flight Portuguese football? I really don't think they are. Oh, for a chairman who wouldn't tell me to 'not waste our time with matters such as this' whenever I tried to protest another refused upgrade.

That said, if I combined Neves and Reis I'd have a pretty decent striker:

One year I'll get some decent fullbacks. 2029 is not that year. Our better players tend to prefer being in the middle.

In terms of the current season,

How are your facilities at the moment? I produced one wonderkid at the moment and 8 of my first eleven are selected for the Africa cup in 2037. All of them are from intakes in 32, 35 , 36..

Still only basic. About a million in debt as well although finances starting to improve each month. Maybe this summer, who knows...

That will be the key. Once you start improving that and your reputation will go up.. you'll get some (semi) wonderkids

A good intake personality / determination wise. Average wise it is a good one with a few hot prospects. 

 

   

Gonçalves 37A has a lot of PA and a good personality. Lopes 37H could be a future MC option.

Liga Portugal BWIN:  After finishing 6th, 5th and 3rd , I expected to finish in the top three again but we dit more.. much more !

 

Really proud of this and now we finished the first part of this challenge. We did it in a season were we had 8 first eleven players playing the africa cup in January and missing 5 games.

Champions League: We finished second in our group with Ajax, Real Madrid and Leipzig.

In the first knockout PSG was much better. 

Taça de Portugal: We lost in the sixth round this time against Benfica

Sanches 35A is our best defender and will be our next wonderkid. Nascimento 33M is our best striker and he keeps scoring and improving . Cardoso 34i provided 25 assits and is a new wonderkid.

 

Miscellaneous & Finances

Finances improved again after getting a lot of money from the Champions League and we used most of it for Training and Youth facilities upgrades.

Nascimento 33m and Cordoso 34i were number one and two in the new wonderkid list ! 

So we are going to expand the stadium we are renting from Bragança ? very strange.

We added a new affiliated , Wellington Phoenix from Australia

Aim for next season

I would be happy if we finish again in a Champions League spot because this is our only (but biggest) challenge left. I should be able to keep our best players for two,three more years (but a lot of big teams are trying to get our two,three best players, Monteiro 33N was almost gone to Man Utd for 7M.. our board accepted the offer but i was able to extend his contract (option triggered).  So i would like to challenge for the CL in the coming years. I think i need 4 or 5 more seasons to have a chance of reaching the final ore more.

This season took me an age to complete, but that did not mean we avoided relegation fairly comfortably, even if we did take the odd thrashing. The squad did not undergo any significant changes in the summer, even so we comfortably better than the weakest sides in the division. That said, most of the players who were with us back in the third tier will be leaving us after this campaign. 

The youth players, when brought in...did not do well. It's all just a waiting game at the moment, bringing in 2 or 3 quality players in the summer but holding back on big spending in the hopes our finances can improve to boost those facilities. 

Taça de Portugal, Taca de Liga:

Académico de Viseu and Braga both knock us out at the earliest stage possible. My god I hate the cups.

Standout Performers:

A player who just refuses to reach his ceiling, the defender has now made well over 100 league appearances for the club and continues to excel.

I love a good but underrated anchor man, and the Bissau-Guinean was certainly required to mop up at the back this season.

Best Youth Prospect:

Far better in the middle of the park than on the right wing, Silva is the best of our limited youth prospects. He'll never be a star player but he's starting to improve a little bit. Would love to see him score one day!

I’ve just started this save this morning. They are in the 5th tier now. Managed to bring a couple of wingers who were in Cape Verde under 23’s without clubs along with a striker. Brought in a Dutch centre back too as he was out of a club. Just done pre season but I’m ready for the challenge. I’ve been reading that there is HG issues. That must just be in 4th tier as where I am there doesn’t seem to be an issue. I’ve got that to look to forward to then if I am able to get promoted. I’m gonna bring in a few players mainly Portuguese each season to bolster squad but will rely heavily on the youth system or what ever we have right now haha. Should be a fun and challenging save.

but i actually feel my youth intake is broken  ive not had anything better then "poor" intake even though i just win Portuguese top league and on course for another.

think my best player was one who has just shown up in most recent intake and at best he is 3 star player.

 

also with £40m+ now in the club due to champions league the board still just refuses to invest they are constantly refusing to improve my youth facilities any further

So you are in the top league but they never allow you to upgrade the junior coaching and youth recruitment ? The biggest reason why you are getting poor intakes is that you only got a basic and adequate coaching/recruitment.

yeah only past season have they considered and its been after trying 3-4 times with constant "begging" for them to do it.

at one point i had to risk my job and leak to press to get them to go from poor youth facilities to adequate

 

i guess i just hit a bad boardroom in my save but bit annoying when i would like to really now push the youth intakes

Not the best intake personality wise but we got some very promising central defenders and a defensive mid.

   

 

Moreira 38F & Duarte 38B are good future options for the DC positions. with Pires 38E we get a potential DMC first team player .

Liga Portugal BWIN:  Back to back championships, very happy with that in a very busy European season. 

Champions League: We finished first in our group.

Afterwards we had a great run and beated Roma, Liverpool and Man City to reach the CL Final !

Arsenal is the current number one in the premier league.

Arsenal had the better chances in the first half.

But Nascimento 33M scored the 0-1 after a corner.

We did it ! This means Youth challenge completed and i'm very proud i did it with this team/challenge. I think this is the first team in the HoF - Youth only challenge with foreign regens only ! Love you Cape Verde !

Finances improved again after getting that far in the Champions League gained a lot of money.

Sanches 35A and Cordoso 34i were number one and two in the new wonderkid list ! 

Cardoso 34i won the Kopa Trophy & the European Golden boy Trophy !

 

Aim for next season

I will continue with Africanos, trying to win the European Super Cup and the World Cup for teams, and I still want to achieve certain goals as the national coach of Cape Verde. I will post more about this in my own topic in the career updates section.

Congrats on your champions league!  I just saw this challenge and it interests me alot! 

So I take it you just didn't start as cape verde manager and haven't been able to get the job the whole time?  Or just only interested in the pro team for now?

I did something similar with a 4th tier Scottish team Brora Rangers in another challenge.  I didn't win the champions league before I burned out on it.  Got to the knockouts a couple times.

Hey guys, im thinking of doing this challenge also .. but i want too do it in FM23 , do any of you know, if it still would be possible too do it in fm23 with africanos? 

Im allready planing my next big adventure in Football manager, and long term save, but i will not start it in fm22, because i want too use the save for my main save . :)
