ChampHolic Posted March 11, 2004 Author Share Posted March 11, 2004 Session started alright and ended with a sacking As the season was approaching mid way things were not looking good for wolves at all. It started off with a win in this session and then a long came all the losses and then a sacking. Manager Lee Owens knew the sacking was around the corner and the time finally came. However at least his last match at wolves didnt go too bad as he only just lost 4-3 full details of the matches played in this session below. Lee Owens now finds himself at in debt bolton who are currently sitting just above relegation in division one. Here is how Lee Owens' last games at wolves went and his first game at bolton. Wednesday 10th March Session Wolves 2-0 Fulham Scorers: Kennedy, Ribeiro A good session start for wolves which looked promising as wolves played some great football and didnt look like a team in relegation at all. This result pleased manager Lee Owens but it meant nothing. WBA 2-1 Wolves Scorers: Gray This was a game that wolves always knew they were going to lose at wba are a very hard side to beat at home. It didnt actually go as bad as i thought it would and was unlucky not to get a point. Wigan 4-1 Wolves Scorers: Kennedy A game that wolves should of won but their poor passing let them dowmn fully and bad control of the ball when they got it which wasnt much. Wolves 3-4 Crystal Palace Scorers: Lammers, Collado, Doyley Although wolves put on a great performance this was one of those games where the computer was always gonna fight back and in the end claimed a very late goal (hate them). After this match it was announced Lee Owens was sacked from wolves. However he them took on the job of bolton (unlucky for them). He knows it is going to be a real challenge with bolton but he reckons he can do good things with the club. As firsy game got underway for bolton with new manager Lee Owens they looked in fine shape but a 90 minute goal stopped them from winning 1-0 Bolton 1-1 Fulham Scorers: Pedersen First game for manager Lee Owens and it went rather good bolton dominating having 30 shots compared to their 6 but they just couldnt get more than one past fulham and were very unlucky to conceed a late one. With a few strikers and midfielders coming on loan to bolton from top premiership clubs bolton should start to improve quite a bit and hopefully finish in a decent place once the end of the season does come. Information Don't forget to post all your reports members and next session is on monday usual times so dont forget and meet in clan chatroom as usual. Hopefully all goes well this coming week and we dont waste any sessions due to game not saving or any other problem. Burnley vrs Portsmouth this was a typical last season performance from pompey, i though we had gotten over the stage of taking the lead drawing, taking the lead drawing and then the opposition getting a late winner, Obviously not, Burnley didn't deserve it at all. Burnley 3 - 2 Portsmouth (Berger, Santi Domingues) Arsenal Vrs Pompey Definetly the under-dogs but a brave performance encouraged by brilliant performances by Matty Taylor, Santi Domingues and Linvoy Primus got Pompey the 3 points. Arsenal 1 - 2 Portsmouth (Primus & Taylor) Portsmouth vs Bury Not a convincing performance but enough to book a place at Newcastle in the next round Pompey had to wait to the 98th minute for David Foley to put Pompey 1-0 up a good defencive performance bury, but Portsmouth squeezed through! Portsmouth 1 - 0 Bury (David Foley) Portsmouth vrs Charlton Some poor defending in this game from both clubs. Charlton looked the more stronger in the first up and Johnasson put them 1-0 up before half time, but that soon changed 2 super goals from Santi Domingues. Santi seems 2 be proving himself as the clear out is ominous. Portsmouth 2 - 1 Charlton Man City vrs Portsmouth. Early penalty 2 Popmey converted by Roelandts. Pompey looked in command until Sibierski equalised midway into the 2nd half, and with 10 left Vampeta made sure of the 3 points to Man City. was gutted with that performace, as was 3rd before that, slipped to 5th now, still exstatic about Pompey's league Position. Also the clan website has been started on but certain things aint working yet. Until then the one that aint updated will still be used for people to get to the chatroom from and find the rules etc. Hopefully the new clan website can be sorted out as soon as possible and it will be well worth the wait once it is up. Also dont forget reports those that aint done them you can do more than one a week like a couple of us if you want it dont have to be one. C Cain: I was approached for the vacant managers position, after the previous manager (Ruud Gullit) had left the club in a sorry state. I recieved a phone call explaining what was available at the club, which is not much, and also outlined what the club would expect from me. Reporter: Can you expand on that for us? C Cain: Basically, the Club has been run into the ground for the past decade! There is no hiding from the fact, Fat Cat players demanding huge wages to sit on the bench week in week out! I have been given the task of making the club: A) Proffitable. and: B) Successful. These two both go "Hand-in-Hand" in my opinion, and certain people have very little time to sort their futures out. These players know who they are. Reporter: So, you have taken the club over in 13th Place in the league, and a fair way from the heights of Europe. What will be the biggest challenge at the club? C Cain: Avoiding stupid questions from the media , most probably. Mr Cain is obviously looking to inject some steel into a beleagured Tottenham, and who would bet against him with the opening four games in charge? Cain's men have Picked up 7 points in the Premiership from a possible 9, beating the current Champions of England in his first game in charge!!! Mondays Session. First up was Newcastle United at W H L, this was not the game I had in mind to ease into the managerial role. But, you have to face them sometime, may as well be now. Tottenham 2 Newcastle 1 An absolute cracking game of football, White Heart Lane was not packed to the rafters for this one, but when word gets round how well they played against the Champions they will be flocking to the ground. Tottenham went behind to a great turn and volley from Braathen in the 19th min to leave the Spurs fans wondering why they bothered to leave the pub. But after that, it was all Tottenham! Mabizela was a dream to watch in the DM role, breaking up the play then feeding the front two. Mabizela got his reward in the 58th Min with a swerving shot from 25 yrds out that flew past the keeper. Six mins later, Postiga was all alone in the box, after Mabizela stung the hands of the keeper, and was gifted to an open net. A great Moral Booster for the team, and the new manager. UEFA Cup 2nd round 2nd leg Malmo FF 0 Tottenham 4 Helder Postiga and Mabizela stole the show in this one, Postiga Netting 2 while goals from Kanoute and Sang-Chul gave Spurs passage to the Third round. Burnley 1 Tottenham 1 With players tired after the Euro game, I wanted to rest some players for this game. The fact that my only keeper, with an age of over 16 at the club, was on International duty prevented me from doing this. Postiga opeed the scoring on 10 mins before Little equalised in the 45th min. And so it finished. Tottenham 1 Charlton 0 With players needing a rest, it was vital that the players that are honoured enough to were the White strip of North London, stand up and be counted. Leadley King did just that in the 28th min, rising to meet a Postiga corner from the Left, he smashed the back of the net with a thunderous header from 12 yrds. ChampHolic Posted March 16, 2004 Author Share Posted March 16, 2004 New bolton manager has a great session but could of been better As Lee Owens had only just been appointed by bolton as their new manager he had a lot of things to sort out. As bolton didnt have much funds and had a large loan to pay off bolton couldnt really afford to buy any players. So there Lee went onto the free market and picked up a nice little striker off there. He then brought in a few loan players from premiership teams and they seem to be doing the trick so far. This was by far one of the best sessions Lee Owens has had in a long time as he hadnt had much luck previously with his other clubs. As there was a couple of new members starting on this fine night the game was always going to run a little slower. It actually ran pretty well and bolton got 5 games in. Here is how all there games went in last nights session. Monday session Wigan 2-6 Bolton Scorers: Arfa (4), Holm, Bates This was an amazing start to the session and bolton were on fire. Although bates missed a penalty on the first minute bolton were dominant throughout the entire game. Wigan didnt have many chances and gave away the ball too much which allowed the bolton players all the space they needed to tuck away a couple of goals. Bates narrowly escaped punishment for missing the penalty by scoring a goal on the 90th minute. Also arfa on loan from arsenal played superbly and boosted confidence for the whole team. Man of the match and he fully deserved it. Bolton 2-0 Crystal Palace Scorers: Nolan, Arfa Its very rarely any team that manager Lee Owens manages win two games in a row but to his suprise they did. Another good display from bolton secured another 3 points although it was tight at a few stages. Chesterfield 2-2 Bolton Scorers: Arfa (2) This was one of those games where if you score the opposition always scores straight after or after sometime. After going up 1-0 in the early stages of the game chesterfield fought back and scored a well deserved goal to make it 1-1 at half time. The second half began and bolton seemed to be in control. They then grabbed what they thought would be the winner but a late goal by chesterfield annoyed manager Lee Owens. Bolton 1-1 Blackpool Scorers: Arfa Arfa again netted the goal and gave bolton another point but again they should of won this game but blackpool grabbed a late i suppose deserved equaliser as bolton wasnt playing their best. Everton 5-0 Bolton First loss under management of bolton and what a loss it is to remember. With arfa injured bolton were weak in attack and when bolton are weak in attack everything goes pear shaped. With bolton currently moving slowly up the division one table things aint looking too bad. About 15 more games until the end of the season and who knows bolton could get a playoff spot or maybe higher but i guess we will just have to see. Shagwell Posted March 17, 2004 Share Posted March 17, 2004 Toon March on towards title Despite some up and down form Newcastle have managed to keep on top of the premiership and look favourites to win the premiership this year. They havent had it all their own way though, noteably being outplayed at White Hart Lane and some stuttering performances meaning it should be a lot closer this year in the league. But the last set of results, coinciding with the return to full fitness of Morgan, Dyer, Jenas and Oskarsson is very promising and with Todorov, Oskarsson and Braathen scoring at will (todorov scoring 7 goals against Flamengo & Braathen 5 against Stockport) means we have increased the gap at the top of the table to 12 points at the moment. Although injuries blighted our early season form we now have an amazingly strong squad, having basically 2 first XI's. The squad is still in every cup competition inc the League Cup Semi's, FA Cup 4th Rd and the Champions League 2nd rd. So far this season we have won the Charity Shield, The Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup as well. Will Newcastle be able to complete a historic 7 trohpy season? tbh i doubt it but with the squad i have you never know. Bolton are finding themselves moving up division one slowly but surely. With another fairly good run of results this session they certainly pleased Lee Owens. Here is how the results went in this session. Tuesday session After the little bit of a slow start to this session Lee Owens still managed to play quite a lot of games here is how he did in these games. Bolton 4-3 Rotherham Scorers: Arfa (4) First game back for arfa and he did it all alone. Scoring 4 marvelous goals and guiding bolton to a well deserved victory but it wasnt an easy one. An action packed game which in the end turned out good for bolton. After this match manager Lee Owens declared himself extremely pleased for bolton. Bolton 4-0 Coventry Scorers: Bates, Nolan, Arfa (2) With the usual suspects scoring coventry done little to prevent them from and in the end got battered. Bolton playing near their best and seemed unstoppable in this game. QPR 0-3 Bolton Scorers: Gardner, Bates, Mendes This game seen mendes get his first goal for bolton and a great goal it was. Before the game Lee Owens had his doubts but they soon dissappeared when bolton again produced some great football and claimed another 3 points. Bolton 4-0 Leeds (FA Cup) Scorers: Arfa (3), Ze Mario Another goal came from new boy ze mario and arfa scored more to add to his great tally. This win wasnt expected as it was mighty leeds with the like of semler upfront but this seen them through to the next round of the fa cup. Bolton 4-1 Bristol City Scorers: Bates (2), Nolan, Own Goal Another win seen bolton move into 12th after this game and start to see light at the end of the tunnel. With arfa not scoring in this game which was unusual bolton still rounded off a good performance and got another 3 valuable points. Bolton 2-2 Wolves Scorers: Arfa This is definetely a game that bolton should of won if it wasnt for the crap linesman. With bolton going 1-0 up very early then wolves coming back twice and if it wasnt for 2 goals being disallowed they would of got another win which they fully deserved. Stoke 3-1 Bolton Scorers: Holm With holm the only scorer in this game bolton got beat for their first time in 6 games. A not so good performance seen bolton lose 3 points that they needed. Stoke did play well though and didnt give much away. Leeds 3-0 Bolton As bolton fell to their 2nd defeat things didnt end too well at bolton in this session. After their recent results bolton must of got too confident and thought that they would win these 2 games also but obviously they didnt. With the season brightening up for bolton its still a long way before they find themselves in a good enough position to go up to the premiership for next season. Although if they carry on to play like they did before their 2 losses in a row who knows what could happen they could be playing a higher class of football next season. Apparently the previous manager had caused some unrest within the squad, prompting the board to appoint Aidan Connolly as their new manager. As the new manager takes control, W.B.A are sitting in 7th position in division 1. The new manager had this to say "I'm very pleased to be in charge of W.B.A, my aim with this club is to push for promotion, add strength and depth to the squad, and eventually cement our position in the premiership. Success wont come straight away, and i know it will be hard work, but im commited to achieving our goals, and i hope the fans, and the board will back me all the way." Connolly takes control near the half-way mark in the season, with his first fixture at home to Nottingham Forest. Mondays Session W.B.A 1-1 Nottm Forest Scorers: Hughes A hard fought match, that ended all square. W.B.A went behind on the stroke of half time, and came out with all guns blazing in the second half. eventually the pressure forced Nottm Forest to conceeded a penalty in the 88th minute, which Lee Hughes scored from, saving Aidan Connolly his first point as the new boss. Rushden 2-4 W.B.A Scorers: Koumas, Roberts, Hulse (2) A good result for the baggies, even though they were expected to win. Connolly's first win with the team, as they start to climb the table. W.B.A 2-1 West Ham Scorers: Koumas, Hulse Another tough match, that resulted in a win for the Baggies as they continue to climb the table. Hull 1-4 W.B.A Scorers: Clement, Koumas, Roberts (2) A good result for Albion giving them 3 consecutive wins. They remain unbeaten under new manager Aidan Connolly. W.B.A 4-1 Gillingham Scorers: Koumas, Roberts (3) Again a 4-1 win for Albion, whatever Connolly is doing, its working. Albion continue to climb up the division 1 table The new boss can be delighted with the start he has made, remaining unbeaten so far. Boing Boing. royalman Posted March 18, 2004 Share Posted March 18, 2004 Brummy finally get it right, welll if you had have been a birmingham fan over the last year you will have been counting your lucky stars!!!! beaten only twice in the last 10 but still dangling in 17th place in the premiership one of the most notable wins a 3-0 win against JOey Briggs Millwall and were 3-0 up against Burnley until 3mins from time an angry Burnley fan cut off power supply to all premiership and nationwide division club in the country, don't ask me how he did this he said' It is not my place to say this but........'. After long consultations with the fan he has been relesed on bail pending further enquires! But one man who has backed Patten all the way has been Birhmingham chairman David Gold 'Well i always thought after the crippling financial state Abhi Christainsen left the club in Patten has had to work with limited finances and has turned this club around slowly, ok, we are not very well placed in the premiership but we hjave only lost 2 in our last ten and the team is looking like a team for once. Although Gold has addmited Patten will have to brnig the finances under control before he can have any real money to play with he remains supremely confident that Patten can deliver Mid table this season, and europe the next. 'Patten has done excepptionally well to bring players who never showed any real endever under Christiansen such as Rohan Rickkets who was due to be sold to crewe until crewes finances didn't allow that, he has been important to this side, but they keys n our side this season have been Lomana Lua Lua who Patten picked up on a free at the end of last season who has struck 11 times this season so far this season, and of course Omar Daley the ex-reading player has been esential who has netted 6 times this season. Guest Posted March 20, 2004 Share Posted March 20, 2004 Week Report Aston Villa vs Portsmouth a convincing performance, full strenght team out, aston villa were level on points with Pompey before this game. Pompey started brightly, 13mins in Santi Domingues put Portsmouth 1-0 up 15minutes after the break, Santi doubled his total with a powerful header, and with 2 minutes to play Stefanovic hacked down Olisadebe in the area, Olisadebe stepped up and converted the kick. FT ASTON VILLA 1 - 2 PORTSMOUTH (SANTI DOMINGUES 2) BLACKPOOL VS PORTSMOUTH FA CUP Portsmouth completely dominated this match, but no breakthrough, blackpool were holdong out well some good chances falling to Yakubu & Foley. Blackpool's keeper got MoM/ FT BLACKPOOL 0 - 0 PORTSMOUTH POMPEY VS SPURS Spurs 1 point behind behind pompey were looking to close the gap, and thats exactly watthey did, a few chances fell early 4 Portsmouth, half an hour in Davies put Spurs 1-0 up, 6 minutes later Kanoute put them 2-0 up. and 2 second half strikes from Postiga gave Spurs a 4-0 away victory at Pompey! FT PORTSMOUTH 0 - 4 SPURS DAVIES, KANOUTE, POSTIGA 2 ) Saha & Pericard left Fratton Park, and joined Lyon and Marseille respectivly. Generating 2.5m from the sale of the 2 strikers. Andrew Griffin was brought in from Tottenham for 300k. SUNERLAND VS PORTSMOUTH Probably the most unluckiest performance of the season from Pompey. A lot of possesion and shots in the first half and early in the second, it didn't look like it was going 2 be Pompeys afternoon, and when an 88th minute corner came in, Miller headed home. Currently sitting just above relegation bolton fans around the world are supporting their team 100% and hoping they can get some kind of good form and move themselves up the table. Unfourtunately this session wasnt the best one but then again only 2 games were played as it crashed on the 3rd one. Here is how those 2 games went. Wednesday session Portsmouth 3-0 Bolton (FA Cup) A poor start for bolton to the session as it seen them get knocked out of the fa cup by ant banach's much stronger side. Although bolton expected to crash out againsr high flying portsmouth in the premiership they didnt think it would be by this big margin. Not many chances came boltons way and whatever chances were created they were saved by portsmouths keeper. Sheff Utd 6-2 Bolton Scorers: Arfa, Johannesen This match was one that started off pretty well for bolton but didnt end well at all. Sheff Utd gave Lee Owens his biggest defeat so far since taking charge of bolton. A very poor performance for bolton which shattered the team morale completely. The end of the session came and bolton wasnt looking too good. Lets hope the rest of the games of the season improve for them. Thursday session report to follow..... Shagwell Posted March 22, 2004 Share Posted March 22, 2004 Up and down week for Newcastle the ends on a high Newcastle began last weeks session at the top of the premier league and in all 3 cups. I was still confident that we could do well, if not win all 4 competitions this season. But sometimes the game has other ideas..... Results of last weeks session were: Man Utd 0-1 Newcastle (League Cup Semi) Scorer : Malbranque With the squad i have the league cup was used to play fringe players, or our B team as i like to call them. They have done well so far in the cups and this was no exception. A great win here to set us up for the home leg. Newcastle 5-0 Preston Scorers : Morgan, Rungratsmee 4 The first team came back and provided a thumping win to keep the gap at the top of the premierhsip. Rungratsmee the star of the show Chelsea 3-2 Newcastle Scorers : Todorov, Oskarsson A truly great game, one of the best end to end games ive seen. After being 2-0 down we rallied and deservedly levelled the game, but chelsea hit back and got a winner 2 mins from time in an open game that enabled the chasing pack to gain ground. Arsenal 0-2 Newcastle Scorers : Oskarsson 2 This was a solid and good performance against Sprout's Arsenal. Oskarsson's clinical finishing enabled a good win. Newcastle 4-1 Man Utd Scorers : Milito, Kristiansen, Ameobi, Rungratsmee Again the B Team did the job and they did it in style. Man Utd's first team had no answer to the Toon Army and we comfortably reached the League Cup final for the first time with me in charge. Newcastle 3-0 Burnley Scorers : Morgan, Todorov, Oskarsson Back to the league and another solid performance. Nothing special but clinical finishing the difference. Assistant took charge as i took a holiday. Newcastle 2-0 Norwich Scorers : Carvalho, Braathen The toon keep winning but the performances are nothing to write home about, two well taken goals but Newcastle not on form at the mo. Assistant again took control and again we struggled. Newcastle 1-2 Boro' (FA Cup 4th Round) Scorer : Jenas One word. Disaster. Take nothing away from Boro' but a poor piece of management meant Newcastle lost their 3 year 13 game unbeaten run in the FA Cup. Having been on holiday and missing the last 2 matches i came back onto the game believing to only have missed the Burnley game. I promptly put out the B team to rest the players for the FA Cup game. To my horror we were playing Boro' and it all went tits up. The B team is good but Simon @ Boro' has a great squad and we couldnt afford to be without our top players and lost comfortably to Simon's assistant. Charlton 0-4 Newcastle Scorers : Dyer, Todorov 2, Oskarsson Back and annoyed we took it out on Charlton and thumped them easily. Although we could have easily shipped some goals as with Dawson out for 5 months we were looking particularly dodgy. Newcastle 1-1 Man City Scorer : Morgan Our lack of really good form came to a head here when only a late 85th minute goal saved us from defeat. We were outplayed even with our first team out. We are struggling at the moment and i hope we can come out of this patch soon. Newcastle 3-1 Partizan (CL 2nd Round) Scorers : Jenas, Braathen, Rungratsmee The team did bounce back once again with this result, with a mixed A and B team we beat Partizan but an away goal means the tie is far from over. Newcastle 1-0 Birmingham (League Cup final) Scorer : Guarin The league cup final against Fred's Birmingham. An early goal for Guarin and i hoped we would find our form and get back on track. I was wrong though as Birmingham dominated the rest of the game. We were lucky to win this but a win is a win and another cup for the Toon. This cup means we have won every cup we have played in the last 3 seasons. A great achievement but slightly disappointing in the way we won it. Preston 2-4 Newcastle Scorers : Dyer, Braathen, Todorov 2 This game i saw as a real turning point for us. We made some changes, resting Zonneveld, Oskarsson and Morgan but we slipped to 2-0 down after 30 mins, our defence again was ragged and we didnt create any chances. Instead of panicking i kept the side out there and hoped we could turn it around. Suddenly we started to play like the usual Toon army, at half time it was 2-2. And after the break with constant pressure were soon 4-2 and playing well. This victory was more like it and i hoped we could carry it on. Partizan 0-4 Newcastle Scorers : Braathen, Todorov 2, Rungratsmee I decided to keep the same team that beat Preston and it was a good decision. A great win to take us into the Quarter finals of the champions league with our strikeforce untouchable. Liverpool 0-7 Newcastle Scorers : Guarin, Jenas, Oskarsson 3, Todorov 2 The game to end all games. We were coming back into form whilst Liverpool manged by Wiggy were on a roll. They had scored something 20 goals in their last 5 games and conceeded only a handful. I must admit i was worried about this game and even tweaked a new tactic to use in the 2nd half if things were going badly, but i never needed it. Liverpool are probably the main contenders for the premiership title and a loss here would have cut the gap to 9pts with 10 games to go. I brought back in Zonneveld, Oskarsson and Morgan and apart from missing Dawson we had a full strength fit team. At half time we were 4-0 up and crusing, by the end of the match the score was 7-0 and we had thrashed our nearest rivals. A very pleasing result in a game that everything went well for us. When we are on form nobody can beat us and this was proved today. As it stands we have a 10pt gap over second placed Chelsea with a game in hand. We have 10 games to play and they have 9. If we continue the form we showed against Liverpool then surely Newcastle will win the Premiership for the second year. ChampHolic Posted March 22, 2004 Author Share Posted March 22, 2004 Thursday session Bolton 1-2 Cardiff Scorers: de baere A game that was previously won by bolton before the game didnt save this was but this time round cardiff were just too good for bolton. Each side having loads of chances but cardiff ended up taking theirs better which gave them the 3 points. Notts Forest 7-0 Bolton A shocking result for bolton. They played rather poorly and no players deserved a pat on the back after the game instead they all got booted up the backside. Bolton 2-2 Hull Scorers: Arfa, De baere Despite the new striker getting off to a great start there were still a lot of players in the team that wasnt scoring any. So on loan arfa had to come to the rescue and get bolton a point. But the point didnt really mean anything. Bolton 1-2 Rushden Scorers: De Baere Anoter game another loss for bolton. Thats how it seemed at the reebok stadium at the moment. Another poor performance and new striker was the only player to get any praise. West ham 0-0 Bolton A boring game with a boring scoreline. This scoreline is very rarely seen when Lee Owens is incharge of a side but there was only about 2 attempts in the whole of the game. Gillingham 3-3 Bolton Scorers: De Baere, Arfa (2) An entertaining game possibly draw of the season. A bucket load of chances either end and bolton were very unlucky to win this as gillingham grabbed a late goal to give bolton another draw. Bolton 4-2 Derby Scorers: De Baere (3), Mendes Only win of the session and it was a great win. De baere was really starting to become a fans favourite at bolton as he was really impressing. First game without arfa and they actually played better than what they did when he was in. Fulham 2-0 Bolton Last game of an action packed session seen bolton lose but it was to powerful fulham who were top at the time and still are i think. Bolton didnt expect to get any points out of this and were happy with the scoreline and were greateful that it wasnt more. With the season near an end bolton can be grateful that they aint bottom or in relegation YET.
