Look at that Passing. The best in the league by a country mile. Our passive defensive stance has seen us be defensively tight but busy as evidenced by our Defensive Efficiency, Goalkeeping and Defending. Our attacking however, sees us have few chances, but bury them, as we see from our Shooting, Attacking Efficiency and Scoring. Our Crossing and Aerial results are pretty poor, but it's the lower end of any stat I care about haha!

So, our 2026 academy scholars came in. Thanks to two sets of improvements, we're still at Adequate Youth Coaching and Adequate Youth Recruitment. As ever, we will sign all the youth players and work on their flaws. When it comes to professional contracts, it'll be only the DNA qualifiers that get a contract.

Having got ourselves some Youth Coaching & Recruitment updates, I was hoping for a decent intake... Early signs show it's a little disappointing, but we never know, do we?

Let's have a look for the Top 3 DNA prospects.

c14b845788ff8d5ffa5ed35b87d6cd1c.png

  • ST Jörg Eiblmayr - Work Rate: 12, Pace 8, Technique: 13 - DNA: FAILED

This was the best player we had. It doesn't bode well. The DNA was failed, but he *could* improve his pace.

3a8b88cb2b0a2b4bc41d4cc6b38b9e70.png

  • WB/MR Wojciech Bednarski - Work Rate: 12, Pace 11, Technique: 10 - DNA: FAILED

This isn't a terrible pickup. He'll be trained into a Defensive Winger and hopefully the Pace will increase to a point where we can re-up his contract.

22a2dd0564e5e45db3bf51595b79e8b6.png

  • DC/DM Nenad Joksimović - Work Rate: 8, Pace 11, Technique: 5 - DNA: FAILED

Better player, awful DNA. He'll never make it in my eyes. He'll be trained in the Half Back role, but there is precious little else I can do.

Season 5, our first season in 2.Bundesliga and I was expecting a dogfight for the relegation playoff. HA! Fat chance! We had a great run in the season, finishing in 6th in 2.Bundesliga without truly threatening the playoff spot. We also finished 6th in Goals Scored and 7th in Goals Conceded, which is really good for our first season, even when we lost our best defender in the middle of the season. We'll also lose two of our long-term players at the end of the season as they want far too much to stay and I'm not willing to pay them.

We really didn't make any changes from January and it showed in our graphs. Virtually no changes other than a slight regression in our Passing

Our fifth season at the club dawns with us trying to recapture last season's magic. Given our windfall, we've been given the brief to Avoid Relegation and to make it into the Second Round of the DFB-Pokal. we also had our wage budget skyrocket to £74k and our transfer budget exponentially grow to a whopping £2.3m

cb3589682ceba1e0c216ae46fd639cf2.png

We're very bad at keeping to DNA right now. Our first team XI features an astonishing EIGHT players who fail the DNA criteria of the current division. In our defence, however, all of them came from our 3.Bundesliga winning side, so it’s just the step up that fails them. We need to get a lot of signings in soon to get a decent handle on the team DNA plan. However, we have four academy graduates in the first team and one back in on loan

August 2026 Transfer Window

Deadline Day comes again and see what we can turn up.

Transfers IN:

f5d72be0f4e9831ca6c61e1fd0e4180e.png

  • MC/AMRLC/ST Luis Javier (£175k, SD Ejea) Work Rate: 13, Pace 16, Technique: 11 - DNA: PASSED

We've pulled down SD Ejea's pants again.First on Jose Manuel, now on this guy. He's gonna be monstrous on the wing next season for a new club record fee

17bb719cf30eed21589d6b57a879eee6.png

  • ML/AMRL/ST Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (£35k, Borussia Dortmund II) Work Rate: 12, Pace 12, Technique: 13 - DNA: PASSED

It came down to three players on Deadline Day. JBG, A Georgian international and an Italian youth international from Juventus. The best value overall came from this buy, so I'm hoping he'll shine for us on the way up

We re-signed Karl Eberhardt, Marcello Genius and Nemanja Vasiljević on loan for another season from their respective clubs and also added Eric Hollwitz on loan from Hertha Berlin SC

Transfers OUT:

D/DM/MC Leon Bartel (£450k, Eintracht Frankfurt)

Not really. I'm all about the players for the formation, rather than the formation to fit the players

So far in my save, the difference between youth levels/ratings has been significant, not as subtle as last FMs. I've had some cracking Intakes right off the bat.

It's not really made much difference to me, because my facilities/staff aren't the best. But I'm hoping another 3/4 seasons at 2.Bundesliga level will lead us to better things

January 2027

Here we go (again on my owwwwn...)

Transfers IN:

24d6b66ddbfe319f3f27eced8bce08d8.png

  • M/AMC Laurent François (£500k, Olympique Clube de Marseille) Work Rate: 12, Pace 12, Technique 14 - DNA: PASSED

We've gone spending crazy. We smashed our own transfer record three times over to land talented midfielder Laurent. He'll be big for next season, but for this season, he needs to play so he was loaned out to 3.Bundesliga side Würzburger Kickers.

57cd6c71fcd173ed690a1f99b2eac3ff.png

  • M/AMC/ST Tomáš Seman (£1m, ŠK Slovan Bratislava) Work Rate: 14, Pace 14, Technique 14 - DNA: PASSED

BOOM! We then smashed our record again, tabling a £1 MILLION bid for the young Slovak prodigy. He's a huge profit in waiting, so I have no qualms about using him next season

Transfers OUT:

M/AMRLC/ST Elias Abouchabaka (£750k, Dynamo Dresden)

M/AMC Laurent François (loan, Würzburger Kickers)

ST Andri Lucas Guðjohnsen (£750k, ADO Den Haag)

DRC/WB/MR Lukas Pinkert (loan, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen)

Well, we were raided and raided other people this window. We lost our best AMC and our main striker over the past few seasons for their release clauses and managed to offload on loan, one who was complaining and another who need the game time!

So we've regressed to the mean in this first half of the 2026/27 season. Two good stats (Passing and Defending), two bad stats (Tackling and Scoring) and everything else sitting in the middle. We do seem to give up something to the opposition on height, as referenced by our Aerial and Defensive Efficiency, but our Goalkeeping seems to be trending enough in the right direction to give us confidence to deal with such. Finally, we're again outstripping our x stats, beating our xG by .8, our xPts by 7.9 and our xPts Pos by 8 places!!

So, our 2027 academy scholars came in. Thanks to a (late) set of improvements, we're still at Good Youth Coaching and Average Youth Recruitment. but will upgrade to Excellent Youth Coaching and Adequate Youth Recruitment for next season. As ever, we will sign all the youth players and work on their flaws. When it comes to professional contracts, it'll be only the DNA qualifiers that get a contract.

Let's have a look for the Top 3 DNA prospects.

A lower-tier player, but he at least gets all the DNA markers intact.

  • MC/AML/ST Barış Karataş - Work Rate: 15, Pace 12, Technique: 8 - DNA: FAILED

He's possibly the closest to DNA thresholds right now and is a good shout to be trained as a Target Forward

Season 6, our second season in 2.Bundesliga and we didn't quite live up to the heady heights of last season, finishing in 8th in 2.Bundesliga, again without truly threatening the playoff spot. We also finished squarely midtable in Goals Scored at 9th and Goals Conceded,  in 8th, which is really good for a sophomore season. But I fear we'll lose a few players who have the talent to play higher and that have shown they can play too.

I am glad that we're consistent, but it doesn't make for a great post, tbh. All season long, we've excelled at Passing and Defending, been poor at Tackling, Scoring and Aerial and middling in the rest. We even didn't manage to outscore our x stats like we usually do.

784349848_YouthIntakeHistoricalReview2022.png.5c115cad5ab1856d0dcce55dd8871aa1.png

Here we go for something a little different, or in fact, something I haven't done for many, many saves.

Now we're 5 years into the game and this save is all about trying to get the cream of youth into the team, we'll start to look at my historical youth intakes. At the end of every season, I'll go back and look at an intake from my time here at Viktoria Berlin and see if the key prospects worked out? Or if they flamed out, never to be seen again.

So, for this first one, let's look at my first ever intake, the Class of 2022

96be92f4aeac9242c63e1b728dc4f33d.png

We'll concentrate on the Top 3 DNA prospects, unless there are any notable deviations. The key prospects in this intake were full back Sead Seferovic, wide man Niclas Kirsten and defensive midfielder Joško Čovo

Sead Seferovic

Then. 15 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Now. 20 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

We're off to a good start! Currently, Sead has made 47 appearances in all competitions, with just a lone assist to his name and averaging a match rating of 6.97 overall. Surprisingly, Sead made his debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 2026, against Israel. To date, Sead has appeared 4 times for Bosnia and Herzegovina, whilst racking up 19 appearances for their U-19 side.

Niclas Kirsten

Then. 16 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Now. 21 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Wide man Niclas is also a player still at the club, five years later. Currently Niclas has made a round 50 appearances for the club in all competitions, with 4 goals and 3 assists to his name and an average match rating of 6.73.

Joško Čovo

Then. 16 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Now. 21 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin II

Another one still at the club! Currently, Joško has made 29 appearances for the first team and 5 for our II team, scoring one goal and assisting once for the first team for an average rating of 6.95. However his DNA stats don't mesh with the current standards, so he'll be sold or released at the end of his contract

We currently have no-one else from the intake still at the club so there isn't much else to say, but a good start that all three prospects are still at the club!

Season 7. Promotion? Avoid Relegation? Somewhere inbetween? I have no idea of our true capacity. The board, however, wants us to Avoid relegation from 2.Bundesliga and to make the Second Round in the DfB-Pokal. To do so, they've given us a £2.28m warchest and a £74k wage budget!

74e9e5139ca1a5600635a4127b580ed1.png

This is our July 1 line up. We're gonna need to lose 3 players out of the lineup soon as their DNA doesn't fit, but there is still time to get to that point.

Still following our 2.Bundesliga blueprint as well

August 2027 Transfer Window

We've wobbled a little this season. Time to roll the dice.

Transfers IN:

9a9bdf077a98a9ab738f1e5590779f0b.png

  • D/WB/ML Willi Beetz (Free, Schalke 04) Work Rate: 15, Pace 16, Technique 15 - DNA: PASSED

We picked up a decent Defensive Winger in the off-season and he'll also serve as backup for Seferovic at left back.

14e524323614f8422a0884d17af72c67.png

  • MC/AMRC Luis Manuel Pérez (£195k, UE Olot) Work Rate: 14, Pace 13, Technique 13 - DNA: PASSED

The Primera División RFEF has proved a fertile scouting group for me this season and this was no exception. A great talent and will be a huge profit for us down the line.

3fedf2f28e4669b116726111c48a2671.png

  • GK Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro (£35k, AZ Alkmaar) Work Rate: 7, Pace 9 - DNA: FAILED

With the unexpected loss of Tobias Sander to his MRC, we had to get in a backup keeper and Rome-Jayden proved to be the perfect player to get in.

eaf34d512531202c9371094c0b09881a.png

  • MC Jean N'Guessan (£1.2m, OGC Nice) Work Rate: 13, Pace 12, Technique 13 - DNA: PASSED

This was an opportunist steal. He was being scouted after a recommendation and once I got the full report, I launched a bid. It cost me a lot in promises and wages, plus breaking the club transfer record again, but we were in dire need for some quality in the middle of the park.

b9f9d232f2915002e1f818e1019f7be7.png

  • GK Mikki van Sas (£35k, U.D Levante) Work Rate: 4, Pace 11 - DNA: FAILED

A player that has been on my radar since Day 1, we finally were able to pick up him up for a song, despite him costing over £3m when last season's enquiry went in

b90772bc0ec5d9d05b9ee05750e1a640.png

  • MC/AMLC/ST Ilija Stojkovski (£55k, CD Lealtad) Work Rate: 13, Pace 12, Technique 10 - DNA: PASSED

We were deprived of our main target forward on Deadline Day (and at a record price), so I had to delve into our Target Forward shortlist and the Primera División RFEF came up trumps again.

We also renewed the loan of Karl Eberhardt and also picked up defensive winger Leo Wintzheimer and welcomed back Brandon Mauragis on loan after his sale.

Transfers OUT:

AMLR/ST José Manuel (£1.5m, FC Groningen)

GK Tobias Sander (£1m, Hamburger SV)

GK Lukas Björklund (£100k, Västerås SK)

D/WB/MR/DM Alex Hadewicz (£1.5m, DSC Arminia Bielefeld)

M/AMLC André Frahn (£1.5m, DSC Arminia Bielefeld)

DR/DM/MC Brandon Mauragis (£250k, SC Paderborn 07)

ST Andrés Giménez (£2m, Rayo de Vallecano)

This was a window to forget to be honest. We lost 4 first team players that I really didn't want to and had to replace them at short notice or, in some cases, didn't replace at all

I think you’ve got in some of your best players yet, Luis Manuel Perez (that flair and vision!). Upgrades at GK, fullback and midfield too

2nd round in cup? Tick!

A DMC and Strikers? That will do nicely in this youth intake. Now yuu’ll propably get a GK and a winger :lock:

Transfers IN:

  • DM/M/AMC Rico Speksnijder (£500k, SBV Excelsior Rotterdam) Work Rate: 12, Pace 13, Technique 13 - DNA: PASSED

A ridiculous transfer window saw us scrambling like no-one's business to cover the gaping holes that were appearing in our first XI this window. First in was at attempt to cover the Segundo Volante role and a bit of a panic buy.

57d895712c8526a0dff249e7fbcf5323.png

  • DC Giannis Oikonomou (£350k, SC Freiburg) Work Rate: 15, Pace 13, Technique 10 - DNA: PASSED

We were short a decent defender and Vasiljevic had priced us out of a permanent move for him, so we were looking desperately for a competent and pacy defender.

  • DC/DM/MC Kamiel van de Perre (£550k, Watford FC) Work Rate: 12, Pace 15, Technique 12 - DNA: PASSED

Deadline day came and we came across a fabulous player that was on the transfer list in England. We swooped and picked him up as a matter of urgency. Let's hope he lasts longer than our last marquee signing....

We also signed FOUR players on loan for depth. Left-sided Niall Walsh from Newcastle for Defensive Winger depth, along with Darmstadt 98's Michael Novak for the same on the right. Then a pair from VfB Stuttgart, Günter Böhmann (DRLC) and Erich Hausdorf (D/DMC).

Transfers OUT:

DM/MC Ayman Azhil (£250k, Karlsruher SC)

MC/AMRLC/ST Luis Javier (£2.5m, Feyenoord Rotterdam)

ML/AMRL/ST Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (£1.5m, Brentford)

DM/MC Jean N'Guessan (£3m, SV Werder Bremen)

D/DM/MC Leon Müller (£10k, SV Wacker Nordhausen)

ML/AMLC Christian Maus (£80k, SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden)

Well, the N'Guessan revolution lasted six months. He wanted us to improve the midfield, we couldn't do it, he wanted out. Bye. We also lost JBG and Javier to their respective MRC's too. So that's 8 first team players lost in one season. However, we did pick up our first sell on!

This basically is the antithesis of our last two seasons in 2.Bundesliga. Our Scoring and Passing is one of the best, our Possession, Shooting and Attacking Efficiency is average to OK and our defensive stats (Tackling, Goalkeeping, Defending and Aerial) are completely poor. And we're BELOW our xG by 1.3, but above our xPts by 4.6 and 4 places above our xPts Pos of 9th place. The new update has clearly wreaked havoc on my team.

So, our 2028 academy scholars came in. Thanks to more improvements, we're at Excellent Youth Coaching and Average Youth Recruitment. As ever, we will sign all the youth players and work on their flaws. When it comes to professional contracts, it'll be only the DNA qualifiers that get a contract.

I'm not in love with this intake, I will be honest. It's probably got a good upside, but it looks like it has too far to go to get there.

Let's have a look for the Top 3 DNA prospects.

  • DM/AMC Torge Bargfrede - Work Rate: 13, Pace 12, Technique: 14 - DNA: PASSED

Torge looks good, but I am worried about whether he can develop into the kind of player we need.

  • WBR Oliver Fleßmann - Work Rate: 16, Pace 13, Technique: 12 - DNA: PASSED

Oliver isn't the best. But will be retrained as a backup for the Defensive Winger slot

  • WBL Jerry Musah - Work Rate: 14, Pace 17, Technique: 11 - DNA: PASSED

Jerry falls into the same category as Oliver above, fits the DNA, but won't actually be useful anywhere other than as backup for the Defensive Winger slot
