Good luck!!! Will follow this with close attention. I did a youth only challenge with Viktoria Berlin in FM21, in the famous Challenge section on this forum. I managed them for 10 seasons, but I didn’t had enough time to complete the challenge because of FM22. I reached the Qtr Finals of the Champions League in my 10th and last season with them. It was great, great fun managing this club. Falcao was the most important original player for us, who even scored some Bundesliga and European goals for us, before leaving the club in 2030.

Anyhow, good luck and have fun! I really like your method!

When it comes to selling players, we will add a 50% sell on clause to every transfer out of the club, also, accepting any offers for players over the threshold of the following:

  • 3.Bundesliga - £5m
  • 2.Bundesliga - £10m
  • 1.Bundesliga - £15m or 100% over their value if over £15m

Beware a bit of this, I tried something like this once and it became quite annoying after a while tbh. It can be a pain when you're trying to build a team, and someone comes with a bid for your good player at the worst possible time and he's undervalued by the game and you don't really get much money for him.

But knowing you, you often quite happily move on players so perhaps this won't be a problem for you and you'll enjoy the challenge.

Squad Overview

727.jpg.07befb9b653b5f3d14fd2d15e7d4f5b3.jpg

Goalkeepers

68858e098dd70399e7024a9226044ae7.png

Julian Krahl is undoubtedly #1 right now, but he'll need a new contract soonest, even with our meagre resources. Philip Sprint is a competent backup, but he isn't worth re-upping.

Defenders

c647a82927efa67252f15a18d4804b78.png

Our first team defence, when healthy will be Lukas Pinckert on the right, Tobias Gunte and Alexander Hahn in the middle and Deji Beyreuther on the left. We lose virtually our entire defence at the end of the season so I'll have to look
real hard at who to renew their contracts. Jakob Lewald is at the head of that list, along with Patrick Wolfgang Kapp. Pinckert will also be high up too. Bernd Nehrig is the aging start in the team and if he plays well through the season (and takes
a paycut!!!) I'm open to bringing him back. Players who wont come back under any circumstances, are Berkim Yilmaz, Shiji Yamada and Yannis Becker.

Midfielders

3fa980967bb1253ace5e90e3c484f414.png

The midfield is in the same way as the defence in that they're almost all playing for a new contract. At the moment; Björn Jopek, Enes Küc and Till Muschkowski aren't getting a new contract at the end unless they improve and the rest of them, it's up
to them to prove it throughout the season.

Ick. There isn't anyone here who meets our DNA and unless they get a move on, they won't have much of a future here..

I'd take Champions League Quarter-Finals. I don't think I'll make the 1.Bundesliga in 10 years tbh...

My first recruitment meeting at the club. This is where we lay down the foundations of what we're trying to achieve. Let's see what everyone thinks.

acfd81f45da581d329f91bd5b13a3941.png

Right back and basically our entire forward line. Well, this shows what faith they have in us, eh?

  • Right Full Back

We were offered the usual amount of players who a) did not meet age requirements (were also not able to be loaned to the club) and b) did not fit club DNA requirements, however Steffen Lang did.

  e6d5a652871faab6f12d24eaca6fbc15.png

So we offered the man a trial to see how he shakes out.

  • Target Forward

Much the same as the last, we were given a pretty low-rent selection of people. However, Ousman Manneh, stood out!

365efdd8cbba31b7c5adb560727f624e.png

Let's give him a try! We even spoke to his agent who said...

dae6576597bdd3e9fe8ab480d8f8df2e.jpg

We also saw an old FM21 friend of mine for loan, Kai Brünker, at 1.FC Magdeburg

bb83dcd8db47f2a0a09b7fae0f1566be.png

Now, whilst his age profile is out, we aren't signing him permanently, so it's a good thing.

  • Inside Forward - Left

Again, only one player in this list fitted both search profiles and that was.... Turkish winger Zeki Erkilinç

f984023f61b8c72c6983837943798650.png

  • Inside Forward - Right

The one player in this list who fitted both search profiles was Ghanian winger Joselpho Barnes

66636b81a62767956119620360235cd6.png

Sadly, it wasn't to be for Lang, who chose Energie Cottbus and nor for Manneh, who chose Go Ahead Eagles. Both players asserting that the other club was bigger than ours. Crap.

August 2021 Transfer Window

Our first season and we had no transfer budget and almost no wage budget.

94020ed658137a28d3534f435ceb1f9b.png

So it was stay up or die. I can go with that.

Transfers IN:

594e063cf5077b5191a544dc325a174e.png

  • GK Marian Prinz (free agent): Work Rate 10, Pace 8 - DNA: FAILED

Marian was on trial at the club early on and his stats sit at a point where he can improve well behind Krehl.

053de08dfa3d8a5e76af82e4ad7a4f0d.png

DRC/WBR Kilian Senkbeil (free agent): Work Rate: 11, Pace: 13 - DNA: PASSED

Kilian was also a trialist at the club and once we looked at his skills, we knew we'd have a gem on our hands.

During this window, we also picked up three loanees; Kai Brünker from 1.FC Magdeburg and two from our parent club 1.Union Berlin in the shape of midfielder Fabio Schneider and striker Malick Sanogo

Let's break it down -

Goalkeepers: 1 (Rating: E)

Full Backs: (Rating: B)

Wing Backs: 0 (Rating: -)

Centre Backs: 3 (Rating: C)

Defensive Midfielders: 0  (Rating: -)

Wide Midfielders: 2 (Rating: A)

Central Midfielders: 2 (Rating: F)

Attacking Midfielders: 1 (Rating: E)

Wingers: 3 (Rating: G)

Strikers: 2 (Rating: F)

So, our two areas of strength in this intake, full back and wide midfielders, are seriously needed and they'll probably be fast-tracked as soon as they're old enough. I'm also happy with the amount of DC's coming into the club,
but I'm also aware that we're a year out of getting any use out of our players. Let's hope they're worth waiting for..

Now we're halfway through the season, let us see how we stack up against the rest of the 3.Bundesliga using the new Data Hub...

ec29a5aae2d6d6a55771d6af8397abcd.png

Errr... not well.

Our Defensive Efficiency is on the OK side, but if our Passing was a dog, it would have been put to sleep...My God. Our Goalkeeping and Tackling is also poor, however, we're on the positive side for Crossing, Shooting and Scoring, saying that we're taking our (few) chances. An interesting outlier is that we're one of the league leaders in Defending (blocks and clearances), which is exactly what I want from my defence. Bend, don't break. Our xG Table also has us three points and two places higher, which is again, indicative of our clinical play in front of goal.

Going forward, we need to maybe work on our fitness as we've lost a few points with late goals (85min+) and training on tackling.

January 2022 Transfer Window

Transfers IN:

None

Transfers OUT:

None

Huh. Well, it wasn't for a lack of scouting or research. Sadly, we're -£1.15k over our wage budget and -£750k in our bank balance, so we were never signing anyone for actual money this window, also most of our players were leaving at the end of the
season so I couldn't very well flog them for some extra cash. Loans-wise, we couldn't afford anyone who wanted to come and those who the parent clubs decided they didn't want money for, we didn't want them.. Gonna be a fun run to the end of
the season!

Enjoying the look of this save. I’m not going quite so hard and fast with my cutoffs but I’m going to have a similar screening process in terms of players retained in my Portsmouth save. Interested in seeing how it works out with your method!

Maybe you mentioned it, but how are you doing in the league? From the stats, I’d imagine you’re doing decent but not top.

So, our 2022 academy scholars came in. We're now at Average Youth Coaching and Fairly Basic Youth Recruitment. As ever, we will sign all the youth players and work on their flaws. When it comes to professional contracts, it'll be only the DNA qualifiers that get a contract.

Let's check out my Top 3 Prospects.

7d1e86e6fa3a98eeb673251a412fad1d.png

  • DRL Sead Seferovic - Work Rate: 11, Pace 14 - DNA: Passed

Sead will hopefully anchor our full back role for a few years if his development continues on the trajectory that it looks like it could be.

fca8e7ea19fc998098e2f6c96428afad.png

  • ML  Niclas Kirstein - Work Rate: 11, Pace 13 - DNA: Passed

Niclas will be invaluable next season, playing the ML position in my away formation. I need him to work on his Dribbling however.

ebae9302b8b7b2bbf6622d2e1330ba6b.png

  • DM/MC  Joško Čovo - Work Rate: 17, Pace 11 - DNA: Passed

Joško looks to be the perfect replacement for Bernd Nehrig and will get gametime as soon as he's able.

So, we finished our first season in charge in a credible 15th position in 3.Bundesliga, three points clear from the drop. I can't say that we performed particularly well this season, but we did stay up and that will be the goal for next season as we're losing
a large part of the squad, including our two best players in Nehrig and Krahl. However, now I've managed to get our scouts into full time roles, we will be scouring the released lists for players

Player Stats
Commercial Summary

Loanee Kai Brünker was the only player in double figures for us this season and it took until the final game of the season for one of our strikers for next season to score. Great...

Interesting mix of results this season. We got better at Tackling a little, but got less clinical in finishing our chances with our Shooting and Scoring. However, our Defensive Efficiency got better, whilst our Passing and Goalkeeping stayed the same (poor!).
We underperformed our XG by 4.9 goals, our xPts by 2.9 points and our xPts Position by 3 places. All in all, we underperformed. I'll be looking for an improvement, next season!

Still, congrats on staying up.

Echoing the words of the others here. Again, not the best season but the aim as a newly-promoted side in most cases is to simply survive and go from there. That objective has been met, so let's see where next season takes you.

Last season was close as we survived on the second to last gameday. This season, we've had our expectations kept at the same level. Attempt to Survive Relegation from 3.Bundesliga. We've been given a transfer budget for once, of £26k and a wage budget of £45k, which cannot be increased until we get back in the black. Bugger.

The first team currently looks like this on July 1

We've been lucky to fit the DNA principles in already for season 2. But there is frighteningly little depth behind the first team

August 2022 Transfer Window

It was a huge off-season for us as we lost a ton of players due to their contracts ending and our wage budget and general financial health being rubbish. This meant we had to get in players

Transfers IN:

d69bf1edb43da1d07f63f3722864eb77.png

  • D/WBR/DM Alex Hadewicz (free agent) Work Rate: 12, Pace 15 - DNA: PASSED

Alex was a good pickup for the future, as we need some backup for when our players inevitably leave because of our budget restraints

a5da3e1b7c5327b1702670ea4c431aef.png

  • DM/MC Bastian Kummer (free, Fortuna Düsseldorf) Work Rate: 12, Pace 12 - DNA: PASSED

Bastian was a perfect midfield replacement for the departed Bernd Nehrig, as six times less the salary.

49472029c77c4efd7e4e42eb4f401996.png

  • M/AMRC/ST Karl Eberhardt (Free Agent) Work Rate: 12, Pace 13 - DNA: PASSED

Sweet 16 and on his way to being our midfield mainstay. I'm very excited for Karl's progess.

59267b3818e93818c32b659b131b24e0.png

  • GK Tobias Sander (Free Agent) Work Rate: 7, Pace 11 - DNA: FAILED

Tobias does fail the DNA, but as a keeper, this isn't so bad and Tobias is an excellent prospect for so young.

 47bd1ec1b9a0c97d56630f970de7020f.png

  • ML/AMRLC MIchael Senger (£4.3k, FC Ingolstadt 04) Work Rate: 12, Pace 14 - DNA: PASSED

Michael looks to be a great prospect for on the right wing and, for the meagre cost, should provide some profit for us if we sell on.

10c50b7cadda37b0039af32f667e6661.png

  • DRC/DM Patrick Ort (Free, ATSV Erlangen) Work Rate: 10, Pace 12 - DNA: PASSED

We can't have enough centre-back cover at this level and Patrick fits the bill brilliantly.

9802a9d5ca3da17145d36a46e699deeb.png

  • DR/DM/MC Markus Pöllner (free agent) Work Rate: 12, Pace 13 - DNA: PASSED

Older and more expensive than what we've aimed for so far, but I do think we can make a profit on him with a good season.

e43f66d191f08a2c02bd8269f0c13f5a.png

  • D/WBR Lenny Borges (free agent) Work Rate: 12, Pace 14 - DNA: PASSED

Ex-FC Bayern München and AC Milan full back Lenny comes here with a point to prove, I feel. And a profit to make for us.

2cfa9bfb868f6498f1340eabd11e4159.png

  • D/WB/M/AMR Konrad Faber (Free, SSV Jahn Regensburg) Work Rate: 13, Pace 12 - DNA: PASSED

A solid choice on the right wing and will be starting regularly there in various guises.

We also picked up our loans from last season from our parent club 1.FC Union Berlin, Fabio Schneider and Malick Sanogo

Transfers OUT:

MLC Christopher Theisen (free, 1. FC Kaiserslautern)
D/WB/ML Fırat Suçsuz (free, Gençlerbirliği S.K)

Along with the 13 released players.

I really like theDNA thing, but also appreciate that you’re flexible a bit to a point. That 15yo keeper might just up the workrate in time if you set up the club culture right. Plus…is a keeper so it’s less crucial anyway.

So, we're at the 2022/23 half-season break, so it's time to check up on our stats compared to the rest of the 3.Bundesliga!

de0548c9bf3261d1270a15f22edc76d5.png

So, we're not wildly out of anything, it seems. We're underperforming our xG, xPts and xPts Position quite badly (all those free headers at the keeper). Our Passing and Tackling again is ridiculously off the charts bad, but our Goalkeeping is only just on the wrong side of OK.
We're wasting a ton of opportunities, as our Crossing and Shooting shows, but we're also not that terrible when given an open chance it seems, according to our Scoring. Defending is a good metric of our tactic and again, the blocks and clearances is what I want.

Until we get the better players for the league, there is no point in fine-tuning the formation. I'm happy with scrapping right now.
