The birth date of Luke Matheson from Hamilton is wrong. It must be 02.10.2002 instead of 03.10.2002  Please see following reference for it: https://www.transfermarkt.de/luke-matheson/profil/spieler/614084

The Wolves Twitter, the Hamilton twitter, the Rochdale twitter & his own twitter, have birthday messages on the 3rd of October. But more importantly, his SFA registration reads Luke Alexander Matheson 3/10/2002, so it's what we're going with.

As Stuart said in the other thread, Transfermarkt isn't a reliable source for DoBs. It is the soccerbase of our times.

Not sure if anyone has posted, but Rangers staff since Van Bronckhorst not updated properly. Roy Makaay was appointed as a coach as soon as the management change happened, also Dave Vos joined as assistant from Ajax a week or so later and these changes weren't in recent update. Also Zeb Jacobs highly rated Belgian youth coach was appointed as head of coaching in the academy replacing Graeme Murty who also seems to still be there

For the undernoted, I know some will be game generated. Just an opinion but having had time to work through Celtic my own observations for consideration are:

Mikey Johnston – Dribbling should be 15 plus; it is his main attribute and players from club are on record as saying he is incredible one v one in training etc., best at club. It is his main quality and is excellent. Rest seems accurate for him.  Wouldn't expect a PA change or anything but if Ralston can hit 17 for some stats, Johnston's dribbling is better than 13.

Josip Juranovic – Probably taken everyone by surprise by being penalty taker, and only a small sample size from when with Celtic, but as penalty taker maybe needs slight increase from 13? Two crackers so far. Appreciate subjective but may make sense given he is first choice penalty taker now . At 13 you might not be inclined to go for him in game, but in real life it looks a bit better than that. Composure looks a bit low too. Not many Croatian first 11 players with composure of 8 and very few, if any, penalty takers lack composure to the extent that it is an obvious weakness.

Callum McGregor – Think he has been hard done by in many areas. Yes, quiet season last year, but guy has been very consistent for a long, long time, playing more games than almost all professionals in past seven or so years to a consistently high level SPL wise. Case of familiarity blinding his stats a bit? His dribbling is 10, might depend on definition, but he is a better dribbler than that, and rarely loses ball when he does dribble. First touch of 13 is very low, one of his strengths is close control in tight spaces and he happily takes ball anywhere on pitch due to strength of his first touch and body shape. Passing and Technique of 13 are also a bit low. Again, areas of real strength. Both feet, high passing stats year after year in terms of accuracy. Composure also very low against the way the guy plays every week, and his pace is underestimated. For composure, when you watch him play he takes the ball off Joe Hart facing his own goal with a man on constantly. Of all his stats, composure should arguably be his best. Same with Scotland, he takes the ball and moves it all the time under pressure which requires a high level of composure.

I know that reads like a love letter to McGregor but he is a technician, and many of the technical attributes seem to consistently lean at lower end of 13-16 scale for a guy that is excellent on the ball and technically. I get that it has to fit with his wider profile, but he seems to be our Aribo against the feedback from Rangers fans on Aribo.  Anthony Ralston has come out with three figures 17+ and McGregor only has one at 16 across his entire stats? Compare him to the in-game stats for Rogic or Turnbull and it sticks out. McGregor is a far better footballer across most technical facets than Rogic and Turnbull yet they both have a good few stats at 15+. Almost as if the stand out attributes they have are acknowledged as excellent, but McGregor is kept as above average only because across board he is better than they are. He has been dumbed down too much against his real life qualities and is maybe an unfair victim of the correction for SPL players across the board.  Genuine case for saying he should stand out in Celtic squad (arguably the league) as best technician/player but profile doesn't reflect that. I know someone else mentioned McGregor's stats v Ryan Jack. It might be an interesting comparison for the team to look at and reflect on.

James Forrest – Seems to be down on last year and take on board earlier comments about SPL In general needing a dunt down, get injuries play a part for him too. First touch of 12 is harsh and 11 for balance kind of goes against type of player he is, he is constantly changing direction when running at men which requires better balance than 11.

Leigh Griffiths – 14 for finishing is a bit low, get he has dipped but that would be one thing that hasn’t gone, he is a natural finisher.

Bosun Lawal – Having watched B team, he is a very strong player, strength looks low

Adam Montgomery – His potential is likely high, but his profile as it stands looks nowhere near first team. He maybe needs looked at in terms of first team readiness in game given first team role this season. I understand it might come as game unfolds.

Rocco Vata – Think he is best prospect at the club, but appreciate it might show as game develops.

Thanks for considering.

Mikey Johnston should not have 15 dribbling, he has been terrible for a couple of seasons now, his decisoion making is also terrible. He seems to have lost belief in himself.

Mcgregor is not more of a technical footballer than Rogic, cmon now.. Yes mcgregor is a good technician, but Rogic is just a class act with the ball, Rogic is also very strong and rarely gets pushed off the ball as well as holding off players very well.

Has Kyogo had an upgrade in terms of technique/first touch and finishing as these were quite low compared to other players. He has one of the best first touches around, For proof of this watch his first touch for his first goal in the league cup final and also his first touch for his goal at home to ferencvaros, both out of the top drawer in any league. He is also one of the hardest working players about.

Montgomery hasnt done anything this season to say he is ready to make a step up any time soon imo.

I posted this in the league specific issues but there's been no response

I'm not sure the loan rules in Scotland reflect reality. "There is a limit of 4 domestic loan transfers per season" is the rule in question, which means a total of 4 loans over the entire season, not just at 1 time. Because of loans cut short or ending in January, Elgin have had 7 different loan players at the club this season (an addition 1 has been signed since my original post). Hoping for some clarification on why the rule is set as it is in game.

Is there a chance Ben Doak (Celtic, squad no. 84) will make the February update, or was he too young at the point of cut off earlier in the season?

Alex Lowry has now got first-team football at Rangers.  He's featured in 2 games and his match reports have been very good indeed.  Also, Micheal Beale, now at Aston Villa, has commented that Lowry is a very talented player.  His stats need a boost in order that he now because a viable squad player.  I also think his potential ability needs to be raised.

He was born 11/11/05, so unfortunately, can't be included this year. Missed out by 72 days.

Jonathan Afolabi of Celtic was recalled from his loan to Ayr United and then immediately loaned out to Airdrie until the end of the season.

Justin Devenny of Kilmarnock also joined Airdrie on loan over the weekend.

Daizen Maeda missing from Celtic in January Transfer update.

Japanese league players aren't licensed in FM and as his full contract is with his parent club despite joining Celtic on loan, we're unable to include him at this time. It is something we're investigating with the aim of adding him in as soon as possible.

Since the update im no longer able to start a new save.

Edit: I may have posted this in the wrong thread.

It's due to the custom skin. Would say disable it via the preferences and see if you have the same issue. If you do, contact our support team here - https://fm22.info/SupportTicket

Is there any particular reason why Reo Hatate has so many attributes not set? Started a new save & he's been given 11 work rate, so I checked the editor and noticed it's set at 0.

He was a late edition to the Scottish DB. Unfortunately won't see our rating of him until '23

Why is Martin Boyle's transfer from Hibernian to Al Faisaly not showing in game, click on all transfers and you will see Hallberg, Gullan etc all there but no sign of Boyle and the £3m transfer? Am I missing something somewhere.

It's not in my save, only 3 undisclosed and that's Yates, Gullan and James, Boyle's name not even in the list. I checked the pre editor and it's in his profile with correct dates etc, not a clue what happening. Also not able to change profile pic to one of my own now, always wee problems when we get an update.

there appears to be no Rory Wilson at Rangers, wonderkid banging in the goals at youth level - 40 so far - linked with many top clubs.

Think it will be the same as Ben Doak at Celtic, his date of birth will mean he isn't eligible until FM23. There is a cut off and if they are not 16 by a certain date they go in next year.

I also raised this under the transfer forum in case it sits better there but it is an SPL data issue of sorts . Kieran Tierney's transfer to Arsenal shows in this season's outgoing for Celtic and appears in the Transfer Window news feed. It was 2019 he left, so think the date in the database is out. His actual profile is fine in terms of history though, which is a bit odd. Screenshots attached. There's been a lot of comments about Joe Aribo being underrated. He's not; the problem was that other players (Davis and Kamara) had too high ratings for AMC when they shouldn't have and because they literally have 1 or 2 CA points more than Aribo, it's pushing him out of the running in the beta.

As another general point about Rangers and Celtic...

As a research team, we agreed to slightly reduce the CAs of some Rangers and Celtic players for this release compared to last time.

This has been done for two reasons...

When we research teams, every team in the database has a guideline for how First Team and Star Players should be rated in terms of Current Ability. What we began to find was that both Rangers and Celtic had too many 'stars' and a lot of first team players at the top end of the first team range. This then made is difficult for any player who was squad player pushing to start for either club (Anthony Ralston for example) to get even one game for the club in testing.

The other reason was that it meant these reserves/squad players on the periphery of the first team at either club were being rated as Star Players for even the likes of Hibs and Aberdeen.

And I'm sure you'll all agree that a player like Scott Bain wouldn't be a star for many clubs in the SPFL Premiership when there are a lot of very good goalkeepers at other clubs.

So basically if you load the game up and see a player who was rated at 135 last year having a rating of 131 or whatever, it's been done for the Scottish database to be a more accurate reflection of real life.

Ive tagged this post as to be honest since i read it all the way back when written its kind of bugged me but i thought id wait till the end of the season and try gather evidence to open a discussion with.

While i accept the Ralston point the CA reduction to old firm seriously worries me and im aware has effected a number of saves. In past years getting deep in europa league with old firm was viable this year it hasnt been without alot of luck and good transfer business. Avoiding spurs in the playoff was the only real requirement last year for example. This CA hit hurts hard when it comes to european football and then achieving the fees these players should command in game. The fact i can buy a 250k cb from league one and have him challenging the rangers squad for me is worrying. This is of course a side now who has achieved a major european final - and i think given celtics domestic form having them on a similar CA wouldnt be unrealistic,

The arguement in regards to SPFL premiership teams and the old firm is a little more interesting. Theres a 19 point gap from Rangers to hearts, and a further 17 points to Dundee United in third at time of posting. 5th place ross county have less than half the points of celtic and only a point more than half of Rangers. That shows a major difference in quality. In saves ive seen in just a couple of years the AI winning the league with hibs (full AI scottish premier league) - something we didnt typically see in FM and havent seen for close to 40 years IRL. Now i dont dispute this could happen irl and fm is a simulation of what can happen. With my input it took me 2 years to win league with Dundee United, typically it takes me 4-5 years to bridge gap and compete. Again it could happen but it shows a major shift from previous editions.

In terms of players - Craig Gordon was deemed surplus at Celtic - probably wrongly admittedly but regardless he went to Hearts and is now player of season, evidence that celtics surplus is a key player in third best team. Glenn Middleton is nowhere near the Rangers team but according to wiki has managed 23 games for an allbe it poor St Johnstone team this season. I wont go into players like Bassey because i dont think anyone could have predicted his rise, but someone like Jack who is an esstential player at Rangers and while i agree has injury proneness is completely unusable in game - as others have previously mentioned.

I'd personally suggest in terms of this i understand the CA reduction but instead of limiting the amount of "stars" / "first team players"  at the old firm into limited guideline maybe - and maybe rangers european success aids this, that guideline is raised. Going back to a quote im sure one of the researchers mentioned last year the old firm would have been two of the strongest teams in the championship in england or words to that effect. Is this the level we're fighting on? Are we saying Alfredo Morelos who tore dortmund apart couldnt play in the premier league? I know he can get moves to the lower end when saying this, but hes a strong example. Kent ive seen get big moves but again ive never seen him shine. Tavernier is top scorer in the europa league, okay with a few pens, but still an achievement. Connor Goldson is the highest rated defender stat wise in the europa league website with most balls recovered by a distance and most clearances again by a large distance. On the other end of the city i fully believe Callum McGregor would flourish down south, im sure many other celtic players would too but i dont see enough to comment on this fully. We've seen Rangers back up right back move to the premier league and although thus far its not worked out surely that suggests many members of the first team would cope at that level. Of all sims ive seen ran both sides regularly get relegated from english prem without much of a fight. Are Rangers and Celtic worse than the Old firm?

If we look across the league theres also strong evidence that players not playing for old firm are getting games for other clubs. David Bates made 25 stars for Aberdeen this season, we know rangers have improved rapidly in defence since he left so can assume hed be a back up at best now. Ross McCrorie direct from Rangers has made 35 starts for Aberdeen this season, was no where near Rangers first team at point he left. Andy Halliday 24 appearances for hearts, Barrie McKay 29 starts. That would suggest to me that the fringes of these old firm sides are fairly close to starters in most SPFL sides.

For me i Dont think it would be unfair that the old firms best players - morelos, kyogo, kent, mcgregor, jack etc all have a much higher rating relative to league which would allow a patterson for example - to remember quote had more stats than ca allowed to actually have that ca (this is huge in game ive tried in 4/5 saves and spoke to others and nobody i know has been actually able to develop patterson, even with 38 premier league starts, in 22 altho i know this will be with everton researcher next year to fix). Id open same suggestion to key players at other sides if theres a legit chance those players could do that level.

Billy Gilmour's preferred club should be Rangers. He's a Rangers fan. that's where he learned to play football.  Sometimes I see him playing for Celtic in the game and it's very jarring because I don't think he'd end up there in real life.  His mother refused to touch the green part of a Norwich scarf such was her dislike for Celtic.  I try to sign Gilmour for Rangers and he has no desire to join which I don't believe reflects reality either.  I just read this article:

Transfer insider Pete O’Rourke has hinted at the possibility of a former Rangers player returning to Glasgow to booster the Gers’ squad for the 2022/23 campaign.

The player in question is Scotland international Billy Gilmour.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think a move to Rangers might be something that will be on his mind.

“I think he’s a boyhood Rangers fan as well, so if Rangers were able to pull off that deal, it would give them a huge boost going into next season.”

Firstly, Gilmour thinking about a switch to Ibrox and being a supporter of the club suggests that they have a realistic chance of landing him this summer.

His love for the Glasgow giants could give them the edge ahead of any other teams competing for his signature, with the prospect of playing at senior level for his boyhood club potentially being too hard to turn down.

I'd also like to add that with Rangers reaching a major European final I hope their entire squad recieve a significant buff for next years game.  All of Scottish football should be getting a buff given the rise in coefficents anyway.,

FM researchers taken more than just European performances into account when rating teams and players, I hope everyone can remind themselves of that.

And I doubt Rangers doing well in Europe will lead to Hibs or Aberdeen players receiving CA increases.

Pretty sure his mum is a big Rangers fan and his Dad is a Celtic fan, think it was quoted a fair bit when we he was younger coming through. You would imagine he would be willing to play for both, albeit having been at Rangers makes it more likely he would choose Rangers over Celtic
