Please post any data issues related to Wales here.

As much of the data is subjective we’d ask that you respect everyone’s opinion and accept that the final decision is that of our club researchers and our heads of research.

We also request you please adhere to the following three point plan when posting in the data topics:

·        State what you think is specifically wrong with a particular piece of data.

·        State what you think the data should be.

·        State reasons/proof for your suggested corrections/improvements.

Please note that any non-data issues specific to Wales should be reported in a new thread on the Bug Tracker (at that link). This would include issues such as league scheduling, league table sorting rules and match rules.

If we go beyond the top tiers, the lower tiers haven't been updated to match the changes of recent seasons.

For example;

Some teams are still marked as being in their respective local leagues: Dafen Welfare, Evans and Williams are marked as Carmarthenshire Premier, and Morriston Town is Swansea Division 2.

In reality, those three, plus others are now in the Tier 4 league, the West Wales Premier League, which goes above the Carmarthen and Swansea local leagues and directly promote to Tier 3. Might not be critical issues right now, but if expanding upon the division in the future it may well be useful to have them in the right places.

It also doesn't look like the new FAW Reserve League has been implemented into the game. That league was formed this season (I think), the data of which is available here;

https://www.faw.cymru/en/news/faw-reserve-league-composition-confirmed/

Given it has clubs from Tiers 1-3 within the competing structure and it adds reserves to the clubs, I think it should be included going forward.

Also, if I read it right, the FAW Premier Development League rules is wrong; It states a "Match squad cannot have any players over the age of 19" but this is wrong, the Development League rule 6 permits up to 5 designated over age players in a match squad, with 3 permitted on the field at one time. https://www.faw.cymru/files/3416/2800/0518/Cymru_Premier_Development_League_Rules_202122.pdf

Some positional problems:

Aberystwyth:

Harry Franklin - should be CM and AM

Matthew Jones - should be LB as well as CM

Jack Thorn - isn't an LB

Barry:

Rhys Kavanagh - should be RW

Marcus Day - should be LW

Caernarfon:

Ryan Williams - primarily CM but can also play anywhere in defence

Aaron Simpson - can play CM

Flint:

Danny Harrison - should be CM who can also play DM and CB

Telor Williams - LB

Haverfordwest:

Dylan Rees - can play LB

Ricky Watts - can play CB

Ashley Richards - can play CM

Kyle Patten -  CB

Newtown:

Naim Arsan - LB

The New Saints:

Danny Redmond -  should primarily be a CM as well as LB

Louis Robles - should be stronger as RW

Prestatyn Town:

Dominic Elsey-McHugh - should be LB, not ST

Emmanuel Agyemang from Cefn Druids.
Has a jumping reach of only 3, he is 191cm tall, so his jumping reach should be at least 13. Iam guessing, there is missing or wrong data.

Minor point but Rhys Kavanagh (Barry) is missing some playing history.

17/18 - 9 appearances 0 goals for Gloucester City on loan from Bristol Rovers, joined 26/01/18: https://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2018/january/rhyskavanaghgloucesterloan/

18/19 - 15 appearances 4 goals for Hungerford Town on loan from Bristol Rovers, joined 29/11/18 until 06/04/2019: https://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2018/november/29.11.18-dev-loans/

I don't know exactly how useful this might be, but, I have compiled a spreadsheet of the geographical co-ordinates of the stadiums in Wales (I started compiling it for an FM 2020 save, thinking it might fix the North clubs being promoted to the South, and vice versa. It didn't, but I ended up using it as the basis of a Google Earth file).

I have tried to get it as accurate and up-to-date as possible, using data from the Comet app and Football Ground Map. I've gone as far down the system as I can with what information I can find (it's spotty between Steps 6-9), and there will be gaps.

It's probably a massive waste of time, but, thought I would share it, just in case it might be useful.

Barry's  Robbie Patten could probably have his brother Keenan Patten (29193812) added to his liked people.

He is missing his appearance data for Chippenham in 17/18, was 14 games 0 goals, https://int.soccerway.com/players/robbie-patten/390063/

Haverfordwest's Kyle Patten could probably have his brothers Keenan Patten (29193812) and Robbie Patten (28097195) added to his liked people.

https://clwbpeldroed.org/2020/01/30/barry-merthyr-kyle-patten/

Barry's Theo Wharton could probably have his dad Sean Wharton (5102740) added to his liked people and it could be added the other way round too: https://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/sport/14926949.cardiff-city-youngster-theo-wharton-pledges-international-future-to-st-kitts-nevis/

Sean Wharton was appointed Abergavenny Town manager last summer: https://clwbpeldroed.org/2021/07/20/sean-wharton-manager-abergavenny-town/

Ben Bannon left Abergavenny 21/11/19: https://clwbpeldroed.org/2019/11/21/abergavennytown-welshleague-benbannon/

Nick Harrhy joined Monmouth 31/07/2020:https://twitter.com/MonmouthTownFC/status/1294017087279702023

Also Harrhy made 10 appearances scoring 2 goals for Westfields in 16/17, joined 13/10/16: https://www.herefordtimes.com/sport/14801208.nick-harrhy-joins-westfields-from-monmouth-town/

Currently, the FAW Youth Cup in game only selects from u19 sides in the Welsh pyramid. However, the u18 sides of Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, Wrexham and Merthyr all enter most years, and is traditionally dominated by them (especially by Swansea in the last decade): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAW_Welsh_Youth_Cup

Wrexham and Newport have both taken part in this season's tournament: https://www.faw.cymru/en/news/faw-youth-cup-round-2-draw3

Swansea, Cardiff and Merthyr did not enter this year for various temporary Covid-related issues (Swansea had a significant Covid outbreak in their academy early in the season that put them behind on their normal fixtures, Merthyr have struggled to rebuild their squad after deferring a season, and I'm not sure on what happened with Cardiff).

The stadium selection for the Welsh national side is incorrect.

While the national stadium in the database is correctly set as the Cardiff City Stadium, the Principality Stadium is set to host major matches for the national team:image.thumb.png.98eeb4d1e9297631d3cdc238cc43c042.png

The result of this is that, due to the attendance demand and larger venue size, the Principality Stadium ends up hosting most of Wales' competitive fixtures at home.

This is inaccurate, as Wales have only played a single friendly at the stadium since 2011, a venue choice that proved to be very unpopular with many fans. As such, the FAW have let expire an agreement to have access to the stadium as of 2021: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/wales-havent-played-football-principality-15241137

A more accurate set of stadiums made available for the senior side would be for Cardiff City Stadium to host all major matches, with Liberty Stadium (which incidentally should be renamed to Swansea.com Stadium), Parc Y Scarlets and The Racecourse Ground being available as options for medium and minor matches.

Hi - I know that this is probably too late for the winter update but one to bear in mind:

Jake Howells [4000639] signed for Kings Langley [8325153] on 20/7/2021

I'd suggest amending his resident nation to England - he has always lived there and qualifies for Wales via a grandparent

I've been looking into the team 'Cwm Ni' (74014671) and as far as I can tell they haven't been active in around ten years - safe to be marked as extinct I'd think!

Penyrheol AFC (58616) also doesn't seem to be active, while I'm certain that Winch Wen (58458) aren't either.

However, a number of clubs across the three divisions of the Swansea Senior Football League are missing from the database, which is notable as the leagues themselves are listed in the game. The leagues can be viewed here: http://www.swanseaseniorfootballleague.co.uk/club-info?division_id=61172

The missing clubs are:
Division 1: Blaen-y-maes FC (this might be the incorrectly named 'Blaenymaes' 74039780 on the current database), Sandfields FCWaunarlwydd Galaxy FC
Division 2: Birchgrove Colts FC, Clase Social FC, Kingsbridge Colts AFC, Landore FC
Division 3: CRC Olympic, Cwm Albion FC, Pennard Athletic FC, SA1 Dragons Seniors, St Thomas Stars FC, Union Rangers FC, Wern FC

A lot of the transfers that I mentioned back when the game was first released still haven't been updated, as well as a few other January ones that haven't gone through

Joseph Saunders - Aberystwyth to Lampeter

Harry Franklin - should be an Attacking Mid/Left Winger, definitely not a right-back

Josh Tibbets - Caernarfon to unattached

Joe Faux - only on loan at Caernarfon from Cefn Druids, not permanent

Calum Huxley - Caernarfon to Eccleshall

Ashton Ajibola-Gleed - Cardiff Met to Chepstow

Chris Craven - Defender instead of CM

Derrick Amankwaah - Cefn Druids to Unattached

Ioan Evans - Pontardawe Town to Cefn Druids (currently down as a loan, should be permanent)

Jose Ferreira - Cefn Druids to Kajaanin Haka

Jake Hampson - Cefn Druids to Unattached

Taylor Thain - Unattached to Cefn Druids

Sam Hanley - Unattached to Cefn Druids

Sameron Dool - Connah's Quay to Unattached

Thank you Aled. I'll ask the Welsh research team to take a look at that for the final update.

Note: We'd usually prefer a more reliable source than Transfermrkt, if possible, such as the club themselves, or a local press article.

@AledJames Thanks for posting all this. I'm going to look into this as some of these changes, I'm convinced I had done - especially Wayne Jones leaving Havefordwest.

This was actioned (and thank you for that) but unfortunately it's created another problem. Now the Welsh third tiers are higher rep than the second tier, as seen here on a day 1 save:

A member of SI staff has already responded to this, but wanted to add it here just in case a) from your point of view you think it could make the Final Winter Update, or b) so that you're aware of it ahead of the next game.

Welsh teams will be in the SPFL Trust Trophy in the 22/23 season, influenced by this season's European playoff (as there isn't a spare European place). Sources included in this thread:

Just to clarify that I did submit this information last summer along with other changes to competition structures.

I will lodge it again but as explained in the other thread, it won't be in the next data update.

Callum Huxley is actually a Nantwich Town player primarily and has been involved in a couple of games already (I'm club secretary there so I did the signing and the bloody ITC) however he has been dual registered with Eccleshall from ourselves. So up to you where you want to put him in the next update.

The Millennium Stadium is still hosting Wales senior matches in-game. I think it should be removed until it's confirmed that we'll play there again.

Eliot Evans (Cardiff Met) should be Welsh, not English. He's represented Wales 'C' a few times and his Twitter profile confirms it.

Both of these issues are still present in the latest DB.

Millennium Stadium will be sorted in next update, as for Eliot Evans (I know he has Welsh flag) but I was told his first nationality in English.

I will double check this again.
