Ninja hat-trick fires Sporting past Strabane

Irish Cup 4th Round - 1.12.07

Sneaky Ninja was Sporting Lisburn's hero this afternoon as he smashed a hat-trick in a 4-2 victory over non-league Strabane. Despite being 1-33 on to win the game, it was an even contest, and the heavy favourites even fell behind, before Ninja smashed home Dodgy Dave's through ball. Loic Philippens made it 2-1 with a calm finish from 8 yards out, before Ninja grabbed two more (latching onto a Philippens pass and turning to shoot from 6 yards after a long throw) sandwiching a Strabane consolation.

Lisburn seal deserved victory in game marred by PSNI red cards

Northern Irish 2nd Division - 4.12.07

Sporting Lisburn won easily 2-0 at homee to PSNI, but the game was marred by two red cards for the away team between the two goals. Sporting had done all of the game's pressing, and despite having a Kingston goal disallowed, they took the lead through sub Philippens who slotted the ball into the corner from the edge of the area. Then in the space of 2 minutes, PSNI recieved two red cards, one slightly harsh and the other fully derserved, the first for a deliberate handball on the half-way line (bit harsh for a straight red?), and the second an elbow on Sergio Marinelli. With the 2 man advantage, Lisburn added a second in stoppage time, MoM Craig Douglas firing home from close range following a wide cross.

Lisburn struggle to draw with Q.U.B.

Northern Irish 2nd Division - 12.12.07

Sporting Lisburn missed a great chance tonight to gain a larger lead at the top of the table after slipping to a 1-1 home draw, with a penalty being Q.U.B.'s only shot on target (and of course, goal) of the game. The Lions managed to get an equaliser late on through Kinky Kingston, powering home Dodgy Dave's free-kick.

Disbelief as Lisburn stunned by Moyola Park

Northern Irish 2nd Division - 15.12.07

In as shocking scenes as Leyton Orient beating Portsmouth 4-1 (:() in early 2002, Moyola Park stunned the world by beating supposedly too-good-for-this-level Sporting Lisburn 2-1. They were comfortable at 2-0 at half-time, and despite the visitors best efforts, Birdy dos Santos' goal only turned out to be a meagre consolation.

Brantwood slaughtered by the Lions of Lisburn

Northern Irish 2nd Division - 26.12.07

Lisburn continued their improvement with a crushing 4-0 home win over Brantwood. Manager Connor Murphy decided to opt for a tactic used by Jamaica to annailate the opposition, in a game where they could have had more. Loic Philippens grabbed the first just before half-time, sliding a shot past the keeper from the edge of the box, and Birdy dos Santos took the 2nd half by the horns, hitting a hat-trick and of course getting the Man of the Match reward as a result.

A deserved victory from Lisburn today, as they went to Londonderry to face Oxford Utd Stars, and they came away with 3 points and a 3-0 win. Contract News

It was a special day for James Knowles and Kinky Kingston, who've both signed professional contracts with Sporting Lisburn. Knowles, the Scottish defender, has penned a deal until 2010, while Kingston has ironed out his work permit issues and has signed on till 2011. It is great news for manager Connor Murphy, who's young stars are beginning to attract attention; "It's brilliant for James and Kinky to sign professional contracts and they'll of course get games, but better still it protects our players from being taken by bigger clubs. We've had an enquiry from a League One club for one of our players, and if we become more successful there'll only be more speculation, so we need to keep whoever we can".
