RobbanBecirovic
Hi isn´t this quite strange. Seen a lot of players aged between 27-34 with Current Ability of say 95, and Potential Ability of 130. If you´re 32 you shouldn´t develop that much??? Thoughts anyone
Neji
They won't. PA doesn't change so all it is doing is representing what he could have become or perhaps what he was.
rsk360
have you thought that his CA has gone down? because PA never changes. only CA does and it goes up when your young so like: CA.50 and PA.130 peak: CA.129 and PA.130 old: CA.95 and PA.
iamweesel
PA is always fixed The CA keeps on fluctuating now and then.Real players who are old start might start the game with a high PA but they never reach it,and their CA remains lesser
PhroX
PA never changes, barring serious injury. So, basically, what it's saying is that he never reached his potential, or, in the case of older players, he might've reached his potential but is declining from age. RobbanBecirovic
So the CA can never be higher than the PA or???
Neji
NO, never.
dave byrd
So the CA can never be higher than the PA or??? No! PA is the max the CA can ever be.
Sheer Class
That is correct
RobbanBecirovic
so what happens in the editor when i put CA 135 and PA 125???
RobbanBecirovic
Another question guys, but you seem to know a lot... Player X has CA 90 and PA 130 Player Y has CA 90 and PA 160 same stats are they just as good?
Neji
The think the editor would cap the CA at 125 but I'm not sure. If the players have the same PA and the same stats, they are both the same in terms of quality. If PA is higher for one, they they can go on to become a better player. cpa
A bit like Stefano Tacconi, he is 51, but has a pa of 180. Was he really good while back? on his histroy it only has his current club, however he has caps for Italy.
Naughty James
Tacconi is the only European goalkeeper in history to have won all international club competitions
RobbanBecirovic
so making a player CA 90 and PA 90 mean he doesn´t get any better than this
dave byrd
so making a player CA 90 and PA 90 mean he doesn´t get any better than this Yes, as if his Potential Ability is only 90 his Current Abililty cannot be higher than this.
PhroX
Another question guys, but you seem to know a lot...Player X has CA 90 and PA 130 Player Y has CA 90 and PA 160 same stats are they just as good? Yep. All that matter in terms of how good they are at the present is their attributes (well, and things like tactics and morale). PA, and for that matter CA, aren't used at all in calculating the match engine. On the other hand, I think that CA/PA are all scouts use for their reports, so it's perfectly possible for them to find someone with a high CA, who he recommends, but has crap attributes for his role, so isn't actually woth getting. Of course, the higher PA means that, if they're both young, then Player Y is likely to end up better.
cpa
Tacconi is the only European goalkeeper in history to have won all international club competitions Well i guess thats justifies his pa
RobbanBecirovic
Thanks guys... what are the levels then, for PA? 180-200 world class 160-80 int. class 130-160 champ L /Prem L 100-
RobbanBecirovic
and the other stuff??? Current reputation World repuation and the third one
PhroX
Thanks guys... what are the levels then, for PA?180-200 world class 160-80 int. class 130-160 champ L /Prem L 100-130 It depends on attributes. CA/PA isn't really a good measure of how good a player is. The difference between them is a good indicator of how much better a player can become, but the stats themselves aren't that reliable. Think of it this way. It's an unrealistic exaggeration, but it gets the point across. Two strikers: Striker A has: 20 finishing, 20 composure, 18 pace, 18 accleration, 18 anticipation, 18 off the ball, and the rest of his stats are ~10 Striker B has: 20 Long Throws, 20 Tackling, 20 Marking, 20 Positioning, 20 pentalty taking, 20 crossing, 20 Passing, 13 Goalkeeper rating, 12 finishing, 14 composure, 10 pace, 11 accleration, 12 anticipation, 13 off the ball and the remainder 10ish. Striker B would probably have a higher CA. But which would you say is a world class striker? and the other stuff???Current reputation World repuation and the third one Reputation is basically how well know he is. Low reputation means no-one other than the clubs most fanatical fans know of him, high reputation means people living in the jungles of Papua New Guinea own shirts with his name on. The "third one"...Home Reputation IIRC...is how well known he is in his own country, World is how well known outside his country, and Current is a weighted average of the two. Äktsjon Männ
Striker A has: 20 finishing, 20 composure, 18 pace, 18 accleration, 18 anticipation, 18 off the ball, and the rest of his stats are ~10 Striker B has: 20 Long Throws, 20 Tackling, 20 Marking, 20 Positioning, 20 pentalty taking, 20 crossing, 20 Passing, 13 Goalkeeper rating, 12 finishing, 14 composure, 10 pace, 11 accleration, 12 anticipation, 13 off the ball and the remainder 10ish. Striker B would probably have a higher CA. But which would you say is a world class striker? Actually, player A probably would have higher CA in your example. Attributes are weighted so that tackling, marking, crossing, long throws etc cost nearly nothing in terms of CA for strikers. 20 finishing and composure + 18 otb, acceleration and pace on the other hand would mean a 170-180 player at least. Sam the Seagull
I seem to remember someone from SI saying in very rare cases a player can 'break out' and exceed his original PA. Could be wrong though.

Äktsjon Männ
OK, yes, the example was poor but you get the point I was trying to make, no? I do and it is a good point as well I don't get the people that like to judge players on CA/PA.. There are many players in the game that have lowish CA but great attributes - bargain buys that can be stars for your team.
