A lot of games in January.

We lost both games against PSG this season.

But luckily the goal differents matters first.

January 2023 Part 2 - Transfers

OUT

Only small chances.

Batola, Kouao and Prigent are youth players.

 

Bourigeuad and Wu Lei both wanted new contracts.

But both players are on their peaks, so I rather cash them out.

Benjamin is on a nice payday in China.

All players where listed and why not buy some quality.

 

 

IRL I really like Poulsen, he is very underrated in my eyes.

He was listed and why not bring in a friend for Damsgaard.

Also Leipzig is paying a lot of his wages.

 

The direct replacement of Bourigeaud.

Bruno was listed, so the choice was easy.

Once again Lyon pay half of the wages until the end of the contract.

 

The direct replacement of Wu Lei and Giroud.

Once again Atletico pays 1/3 of the wages until 2025.

We are still in all 3 competitions.

PSG and Lyon are strong this season.

Your welcome and thank you. 

At the end of this season the 2 1/2 seasons are over and Im leaving Rennes.

Then a new journey starts with a new team.

 

Im curious how Rennes will perform after my time in charge.

In my eyes, they could become a power house in France.

They got some great players now, 100+ mio in the bank and good dressing rooms.

A poor performance in Rotterdam and we are out of the EL....

But we are in the cup final again.

 

In the league is still everything possible.

Yes this was very weird.

Normally in France your play the team on the 1. game day then on the 38. game day.

But due to the WC'22 everything got mixed up.

What a final!

2:2 after the regular time.

Nice scored in the 1. half of extra time the 2:3.

We managed to score again in the 113. minute for the 3:3

And this happend in the 120+1 minute....

 

Back 2 Back Cup wins.

April 2023 Part 2

The team is working like a well oiled machine.

PSG still got the advantage and I dont see, how this can chance.

Well...we couldnt keep up with our form till the end.

But we gave everything we had, but PSG was too strong this season.

 

Last season we won the league with 87 pts.

This shows how good we are and how many pts the ACL injury of Neymar costs PSG last year.

End Of Season Review 2022/23

In the last year in charge we got a reallly good 2nd place.

Last season we won the league with 87 pts, this years where 94 pts not good enough.

But we scored 114 goals in the league!

 

We won the Coupe de France again and the Super Cup.

Sadly we went out of Europe like last season in the 2nd KO round.

 

Roughly 100 mio in the bank.

What a team.

The defense is rock solid, the midfield decent and the attack is fn brilliant.

Sadly Damsgaard had a rough year with a lot of injuries.

What a great season from this man.

39 goals and 9 assists with an avarage rating of 7,55

And this as IF on the left side.

Dembele came for 17,75 mio in January and this was a fn steal.

15 goals, 5 assists and 7,38 avr rating.

You can called it "The Resurrection Of Nicolas Pepe"

30 goals...22 assists....7,57 avr rating.

What a seaon he had, amazing.

Chelsea and Man United are knocking already.

Part I - Stade Rennes

 

Great start to this save.

I never expected to be that successful with Rennes, but they had a really great foundation.

I hope they can continue and be a top 3 team in France.

I pressed holiday until December 25th 2023 and here are the available jobs.

We got couple of options here.

Kortrijk, West Ham, Heidenheim or Groningen.

 

But there is only one option for me....

FC Groningen, the home club of the one and only...Mr. Wembley...Arjen Robben!

6th, 12th, 6th + Cup 1/2 final last season.

Sadly lost pretty early in the ECL quali against OFI Crete.

This season they are pretty inconsistent.

Still in the cup, we play Willem II.

February 2024 Part 1 - Transfers

Cleared out some of the deadwood.

Im sad to lose Abraham, he looks like a damn good player.

But 13 mio is a good boost to make some changes.

The attack needed some options.

At first we had not that much money, so Thelin and Piccoli were some budget choices.

But after the sell of Abraham we spent some.

 

 

I will try and focus on signing players from Germany, Holland and South Africa in the future.

A good draw vs Breda, but no chance against Ajax.

End Of Season Review 2023/24

We finished the season on a solid 9th place.

With the right additions in the summer, we should be a top 8 and challenge for the euro spots.

 

In the cup we got all the way into the semi final.

Sadly we drew Ajax, but we played really well against them.

 

 

Finances looking ok.

 If we can keep Stand Larsen and fix our problems, we got a decent team.

Decent start to the season.

A very good draw vs Feyenoord, but a bad result with the other Rotterdam.

A pretty decent clear out.

Players which featured last season where Eiting and Vavro.

Both with 10+ mio offer, which I couldnt refuse.

 

Then on deadline day the board accepted a bid for Strand Larsen....

I mean 20 mio is a lot of money, but yeah....

August 2024 Part 3 - Transfers

IN

In the summer break we made couple of transfers.

Thiago is a goody for me, as Bayern fan I cant say no to that.

The former wonderkid Kuki join us a free from Valladolid.

 Two player from Sheffield Utd for free. Lowe, a backup LB and Luuk de Jong makes his return to Holland.

And we reunite Zuma with two of his best friends Qwabe and Mdluli.

Then a lot of scout reports came finally in.

We spent some money we got from the Eiting and Vavro deals.

 

We need a main LB and with Lambrechts we found a real gem.

Njie will the replacement of Vavro at CB.

Lemne a really great looking midfield prospect.

Nhleko will be our 4th South African player from Sundows, but Bologna was faster. 

And on deadline day Waters came from Ireland, he is another CB option.

I think we got a great squad, maybe the another striker would be good.

A really nice month, it started with a really good draw vs AZ.

But more important a big win vs PSV after a 90min from de Jong.

 

Its looking really good.

The team is finally jamming together.

Really nice draw vs Feyenoord.

Apparently the cups round gets drawn every round.

Well Ajax lost to the tier 2 side Almere.

Only PSV and AZ are the big boys left.

Ahhhhh....I cant stop buy good regens....

They are looking so gooood and are sooo cheap.

Klein and Shongwe will not feature this season.

 

Thorbjornsen will...I MEAN LOOK AT THOSE STATS!! FOR FREE!

He brings he friend with him, the replacement of Lowe.

After 6 months Nhleko joins us and his 4 Sundows friends.

We got now 5 South Africans in our squad.

 

I knew Harroui from my Morocco save and he is a decent squad player.

 

Then we raided Gil Vicente, we took their striker duo.

Lets see if they can pressure de Jong and Zuma.

We beat Ajax!!!

And we are in the semi final of the cup again.

A complete green March.

We are playing better and better each game.

We are in the cup final and this should be a 50:50 game against AZ.

 

I mean.....We got a slight chance of even winning the league.

Ajax and PSV arent that strong this season.

What game...absolut delighted how we played.

After exactly 10 years Groningen won the Dutch Cup for the 2nd time in their history.

OK, we smashed Vitesse.

The Rotterdam battle was a football party, 9 goals and in the end Feyenoord won.

Ajax also won their game.

End Of Season Review 2024/25

Really happy with this season.

In the first half we struggled a bit, but after January the team really played well together.

We even had the chance of winning the league.

But we dry our tears with the Dutch Cup!

 

The finances are looking really healthy.

We got young, hungry and determined squad.

Almost every player is wanted by atleast 2 teams in the big 5 league.

 

I hope with the right additions, there will be another team then PSV, Ajax or Feyenoord winning the league.
