Was Gnabry injured or just didn’t favour him to start?

Seemed a mental decision given whenever he plays against English sides he seems to go on an absolute rampage

Not injured. He didn't really play all that well in the group stage and Löw figured that the Havertz-Werner linkup play might result in a goal, which it nearly did.

It’s at £25k now, utterly bonkers. Think anyone abusing the girl is a sub-human piece of scum but this has equally infuriated me.

It’s clearly an ode to the founder’s own ego, he even raised a drink to himself to celebrate £20k :D

One of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen. And looking at the blokes timeline he actually doesn’t seem like a nice bloke.

Clearly some of the tweets were abhorrent but this whole thing just rubs me the wrong way. She's just some kid crying at her team losing, a situation most of us will have been in, and if people didn't keep drawing attention to it she would probably have no idea about a few morons on twitter ffs. And what exactly is this money even going to achieve?

The German family ought to be too embarrassed to take the money. It’s not about the kid at all, it’s about the JustGiving weirdo and him inflating his own bizarre sense of self.

Your classic left-wing sociopath. Preaches tolerance but basically defines himself by how loudly he can disapprove of others and how many internet randoms he can get to agree with him.

Fully expect a news story where the fella goes missing with the cash

Yeah it's bizarre, but hopefully the money ends up in a cyberbullying-related charity. I think the more attention this gets the more likely that is.

I'm not sure what the point is there. The Premier League has already said its donating 2,000 defibrillators to grass roots football.

yep, and in any case there *were* some defibrillator money raising campaigns following the Eriksen incident.  Seems a total straw man

Why would we have to, football in this country could pay for this tomorrow if it wanted to?

Football could give the German girl a free ticket or a scarf signed by Toni Kroos, or absolutely **** all like everybody else that was upset by the result got.

The point is clearly not that fans owe clubs defibrillators, but that of all the things people could be inspired to donate to by the Euros, giving some German kid (or some Welsh bloke who's all "they may not want to be found... but keep donating anyway") a year's salary for crying at a football match is probably the dumbest.

Of course it’s dumb, but it’s also dumb to compare the two things like the Tweet insinuated. The two incidents are completely unrelated. Just because people have thrown their money at a crying German child doesn’t mean they don’t care about some bloke dying on Hackney Marshes.

All crowd funding for stuff like this is dumb. A homeless man in a viral video will get 100s of thousands of pounds when that money could have been used to make a difference for many more people. Nobody can predict which cause the internet meme crowd is going to latch onto.

But the fact it's dumb to throw your money at something that becomes a meme, especially when similar memes are much more shocking and could more obviously be fixed by money is literally the point being made,.

Nobody's saying people want blokes on the Hackney Marshes to die, they're saying that football fans who in the past couple of weeks have watched media pick up on the shock of a player needing lifesaving treatment and the mundanity of some probably upper middle class kid crying who rush to fund the latter aren't signalling that football fans are nice, they're signalling they're ****ing idiots with no sense of perspective

Again I agree but the Tweet I replied to was quite clearly insinuating that people have actively decided to give their money to a crying child instead of towards emergency medical treatment for people that need it as if it was a choice between the two. Which is stupid and disingenuous.

Seems to me more like it's making the blindingly obvious point that of all the possible "causes" that Euro2020-inspired fan slacktivism could inspire people to fundraise for, this was the dumbest and most narcissistic rather than insinuating Twitter fandom is actually diverting funds from emergency medical budgets. Frankly have more issues with the second sentence tbh. Clearly the bloke behind it's Welsh :D

Some guy started a gofundme about the crying German girl meme. Allegedly this guy has no connections to the family and apparently has a profile on a well known porn web site (and the details there get even worse, if what I’ve worked out from people writing about it are true)

Either way as the story goes it was trending on Twitter, and the whole shebang had him deleting his Twitter account and causing him problems for his business. Apparently.

Now, I don’t know what is true but really, if people are giving money to random gofundmes then there is a problem.

Well they have gone after his partner too now till she made her Twitter account private. The only part that now looks dodgy to me now are the unsolicited photos of people. What I can't wrap my head around is starting something like this with your account linked to your business account and a photo of a package you received with your address on.
